woke up to a flat tire before heading into work. after a bit of effort, i was unable to change it myself and figured i either needed assistance from someone with experience or a tow to a tire place. called Action Towing, they were available to have a guy come out within about an hour. it was a Saturday, so they only had one driver working and he happened to be out on another call when i requested his service. the man i spoke with on the phone was very courteous and informed me that the driver would attempt to change my tire first. if he wasn't able to change my tire, then he would tow my car to a place of my choosing. the tire change itself was going to run $55 and the tow would be $80 + $4/mile. i left my name and number for the guy to call me back when the driver was available. although it took about an hour and 45 mins before i received a phone call, the guy at the shop was very helpful and let me know the driver would be on his way shortly. the driver got to my apartment within 15 minutes. he wasn't able to change my tire, since my spare wasn't in great shape. the driver didn't feel comfortable having me drive on a tire that wasn't in perfect condition. he towed my car across town. he was able to hook up my car and get me to my the tire place relatively quickly, which was a plus! especially since i still needed to get to work. once we got to the tire place, he informed me that he was going to give me a discount on the tow! i was so grateful, since i didn't have a lot of money in my bank account at the time. unexpected car repairs are never easy on your funds. i'll definitely use this tow service again if i need it. i'll also recommend their service to anyone in the area. very professional and courteous people! read more

I was notified they didn't know were my keys were when I went to pick up my car and wouldn't admit they lost it, very horrible service. Payed for nothing just not to get my car back. they tried to be cheap out on the key by only replacing with the key not the key fob they lost. read more

My car hit road debris on 355NB in south Downers Grove, tearing off a loose piece of the undercarriage and rendering it undrivable. It was Saturday and I was 1 1/2 hrs from home. I was very upset because I knew that having it towed to a nearby repair shop would put me out of work for at least a day. I called Action Towing, they told me they would be there within 30-45 minutes. 15 minutes later their truck shows up! The driver was able to use his flatbed to jack up the front of my car and, with effort, remove the damaged undercarriage piece so I could drive my car! Not only was my Saturday afternoon saved, but I was spared a hefty repair bill and the inconvenience of being without a car. Price was extremely reasonable and driver was super polite and friendly. I hope I never have to use this company again, but I would definitely recommend to anyone in need! read more

I have waited a long time for a tow. But not with Action Towing, they were very quick to respond to my request. The driver was very nice, he explained everything he was doing. Once he had the vehicle on the flatbed, it was off to the mechanic. The best part was the price, I thought it was very reasonable. Less then what I expected to pay. Mid-January I was in a traffic accident on I-90 in Chicago. I have never been in this situation before since I'd not been in an accident. I panicked! I knew I didn't want Chicago IDOT to get ahold of my car, so while we waited for the police to arrive and make a report, I checked Yelp for tow trucks in my area. Action Towing was in DG and had a decent review. I had seen their truck around town and knew they took care of their vehicles, so I called them. I had NO IDEA what I was doing, but the gentleman I spoke with, Bruce, talked me through what he needed from me and told me to sit tight. IDOT came along and wanted to move our cars north, to the accident report area on Division, so I again called AT to give them an update. The dispatcher told me that Bruce had left shortly after talking with me, so this dispatcher was going to call Bruce and update him on my new location. Everyone I spoke with at AT was very kind and patient, even though I am sure I was not the typical "knows how this works" client. Bruce arrived promptly. The police officer finished his report. My car was loaded up and we headed back to DG. 25 miles one way/50 miles round trip; flatbeded not towed for $180. I'd call them again if I needed a tow..hopefully I won't need them. read more

Towed my 1958 Porsche from my house to a storage facility. The car is my pride and joy, so it is always a bit unnerving when allowing others to handle it. I called ATB Automotive Repair in Woodridge (they do all of my mechanical work) and asked who they advise to tow it, they highly recommended Action Towing. We had a devastating storm on 4/18/13, and my car was disabled on the way to work. I was luckily on dry ground, and I know others were in worse situations than I was. I waited patiently for 8 hours for a tow from another place, only to be told that I was dropped from the cue and it would be another 4 hours. I called Action Towing - who I probably should have called first!! They were there within a half hour to tow me to my mechanic. I am a dispatch supervisor for a courier company in Lisle, IL. We had a driver stuck in a ditch and needed a tow out. The corporate office for my company is in GA, they handle all the payment and any fleet issues. The gentleman on the phone had no idea what was going on. I asked him if he would be able to help me, he said "uh, I think we can get out there today" after I verified he would be able to contact Corporate he then said "uh wait, what are you calling about." I have no patience for somebody that does listen, especially after I ran through the information twice. I would never recommend this company for anybody. read more
