But Jeff with Action Towing came to the rescue remarkably quickly - especially considering the pre-holiday traffic on Hwy 1 in Half Moon Bay. Jeff saved the day today when he helped me unlock the car after I stupidly tossed my keys in the trunk and closed it. He told me there was a risk of breaking the window but none of the other options would have worked so we chanced it and it all went well. He even crawled into the trunk from the back to retrieve the keys. Very polite very helpful and he saved my dog and me from a ruined day. Like Cathy C., I also had a great experience with Action Towing, via AAA. My car was hit by a flying bumper (lucky me). I was able to get it home but it was pretty messed up. It took over an hour for Terry to arrive, because it had been a crazy busy morning in our little community. He apologized, though I wasn't upset for waiting. I needed to calm down after the accident, anyway. Terry was able to get my car in working condition, so I didn't need a tow after all. He followed me to the repair shop just in case anything went wrong. Whether you have AAA or not, if you live on the Coastside, I highly recommend calling Action Towing. The perfect example of dishonest people who tries to make extra money by taking advantage of a situation. I was in a motorcycle accident and was picked up by the ambulance. Everyone around me was wonderful and really made me feel that there is still a lot of good in the world. People just stopped by to help and stayed with me until I was safely picked up by the ambulance. The CHP officer on site asked me what to do with the bike, I told him my insurance would pay for a two. After that I was pretty much out of it until I got to the hospital. After being in the hospital for 2 days, I called around to figure what happened to my bike. The county of San Mateo admin office told me that it was picked by Action Towing. I called them to arrange for a two to the shop that will repair the bike, they told me that my bill is over $1100. Of course my mouth dropped and I though I'm still sedated by the medication they are giving me at the hospital so I asked again and the man confirmed in a contemptuous way that what I heard was right. He then went on about saying this includes storage fees....bla....bla...bla Wow, I said. Then I added, who would authorize this? I didn't . I was thinking to my self, no one in a normal state of mind would accept this much of a charge. The maximum I paid to two a car was $135 for a longer distance. So I asked the guy, is that fair? He said, well take it with CHP but you will not get anywhere. Then he went on and said, the insurance will pay for it so why do you care? What a dishonest person I said to myself. Of course I care because excessive charges like this caused our insurance premium to go up and everybody is impacted by it. Simply, Action Towing took advantage of the situation. They knew that CHP will not help, the insurance will pay, and you can't do anything about it. So they over charged. In addition, although I'm sure they had my information, they didn't try to call me so they can charge extra for storage. I know I can't do much about it except writing this review. But deep inside my heart I feel cheated, disrespected and I'm certainly not in peace with there Action. Therefore, I don't believe this money they got from me will enrich them but will sure make them poorer (or so I pray). I'm sure you my get stuck in a situation and call them for help. Just be aware of the type of people you are dealing with. read more

I have never been in a situation where I absolutely needed a tow. I was driving along the PCH with my buddy and my car all of a sudden shut off in the middle of the road. When I pulled over, it would not start back up. Unfortunately, I was over 20 miles from the nearest city and no other tow company would pick up the request I sent through my Statefarm Roadside assistance. Luckily, I was contacted by Jeff from Action Towing who made the whole process extremely smooth. After waiting over 5 hours for a tow truck to come (which falls on Statefarm and their 3rd party company, not Action Towing), I was grumpy, tired, and upset. However, My mood got better after meeting Jeff who was super charismatic and did everything in his power to get my car back started up. Since that didn't work, he towed me to the nearest reputable auto shop who took very good care of me as well. If I ever get into another situation where I need a tow on the PCH, I might just request Action Towing to get me directly. I've been helped by both Redwood City and San Francisco. In my first experience, they were the only company in San Mateo area that could get out to where I was near Half Moon Bay, it only costed about $95 for the tow and some really high number like 30 miles which meant $0 for how many miles I needed to get. The second was helping me with a parking problem I had with a local auto body shop which I parked in their lot by mistake. The guy helped me inflate my tires and even know a guy next door who had the tool to replace my pins. Great service and very fast for sure, great price.
