Cowboy towing. Yeehaw. The ruthless potholes of the 880 claimed my car's top motor mount bolts and dropped the engine 6 inches on the left side. This made it a nightmare to load up to tow as my oil pan was in danger of breaking itself upon the tow booms. Cowboy went above and beyond to get my shitbox rigged properly for transport. We own an auto repair shop. Robbie is our go to tow company. He is a man of his word.

My car has been sitting in my driveway dead for the past two weeks. I finally decided to get off my butt and get the car towed to the shop. My insurance company referred me to Cowboy and another place for towing service. The first place I called wanted $85 per half hour. I called Cowboy and he quoted me only $35 for a local tow. I actually wasn't sure if I heard right as I imagined towing service to cost at least $50. It's also pretty sweet that they offer tows from 880/A Street (Hayward) all the way to 880/Mission Blvd (Fremont). Most place would probably do the VERY local area (for the lowest rates). More complicated tows (extra labor, usage of dollies) are $10 more. The tow truck came pretty quick after I called - within 20 minutes - but maybe longer or shorter depending on where you're located and how busy they are. The driver - can't recall his name - was very courteous (and he did come dressed as a cowboy!). He asked me what was wrong with the car and tested it out. Keep in mind that two people, in addition to myself, were NOT able to shift the car into drive. Of course, once he tests it out, the car miraculously shifts just fine. I feel pretty stupid, and not sure what to do since I made him drive all the way over here for nothing. I do think Cowboy Towing is a one man show - not sure if there are other drivers involved. I'm definitely keeping their number handy in my car for future breakdowns. They're cheap, they cover a large area between Hayward/Union City/Fremont, and they're courteous. They have my thumbs up even though my car didn't get towed....sigh. read more

I called Cowboy towing early this morning expecting an answering machine, but I got a sleepy but but nice professional guy that dispatched the tow truck for me. It took less than 30 mins for tow truck guy to get to me. The tow guy "Tim" was unloaded the car with a smile, and courteous and friendly to myself and the repair shop mechanic (this is the 3rd sho mind you), and it was cheaper than a few other places I called. read more

This review is a long time coming. Four months ago the front tire on my 1986 Toyota Dolphin RV exploded on Rte 880 North heading toward Oakland. I fishtailed through 6 lanes of traffic finally coming to rest on the narrow shoulder of a bridge. I called a towing place that didn't operate at 10:30pm, but they directed me to Cowboy. After a brief conversation, he said he'd arrive within 40 minutes. And yet 20 minutes later, he pulled up behind us. Very courteous, very cordial, helped us navigate getting out of the RV safely and into his truck. He towed us to Oakland for $300. He saved our butts, was kind, and the type of person that I want to do business with in my life. I would highly recommend him when you need towing. Damn tire flew off due to a shot wheel bearing passenger side. Anyway all of these other tow companies suddenly dropped their balls because you needed a wheel lift to get the truck back up. I saunter out and see a cowboy in the driveway where my car died. Cue western music. Big shiny star buckle, hat and all- super easy and friendly. Got me a receipt for my insurance and my car was on its way. I was concerned because the driveway had a dip into the street, and I heard my car scrape when I drove in and out, but when the cowboy took it, no scraping when his truck lifted and rolled my vehicle off to my mechanic. Husband's car broke down on the way to the airport at 4 am this morning, just at the end of the San Mateo bridge. Turns out at certain places CalTrans has to tow cars away and then meet another tow truck. Husband was on the phone with AAA who told him he could leave, Caltrans would pick up the car, and then I could coordinate with AAA in the AM. So he leaves in a vain attempt to make his flight. Fast forward 3 hours later. I'm on the phone with AAA, then Caltrans, then AAA. Nope, AAA won't pick the car up without me there. And because I have the cheap package, the cost of the tow is going to be crazy expensive. So I yelped and found Cowboy Towing. They were GREAT!!! I coordinated with Caltrans who was going to tow the car to the Toll parking lot and Cowboy would sign for the car there. Except when they got there, no car. Now I would bet at this point some tow companies would have just left. But Cowboy drove around looking for our car, and found it exactly where the hub had left it hours ago. The only thing anyone had done was turn the car on and put on hazards so our battery was dead. Cowboy loaded up the car and drove it to Dublin where our repair guy is located. They were nice, friendly, and super dedicated. Seriously they could have raged about the fact that the car wasn't anywhere near where I was told it would be or charged me more for the tow but they stuck to the original estimate. Never thought I'd be writing a good review on a Towing company. From my experience they are all pricks...well except for this one! I called a few towing companies and he had a really fair price! I remember I had to get a car towed literally 2 blocks away and costs well over $100. But Cowboy towing had to tow my car across down for a fraction of that! Crazy isn't it? Don't forget that it's quoted by the distance so it's not an apples to apple comparison to your situation. The engine in my Porsche blew up on my way to work (hate it when that happens!). I called around and decided to go with Robby @ Cowboy Towing. Chose him because he was genuinely nice and accommodating of my schedule. Didn't get the slick salesman like some of the other outfits. We arranged for a tow back to my house the next day. Actually saw him loading up my car on my way to work that morning and found my car expertly delivered and parked at my house when I got home from work. No damages or difficulties despite Porsche saving a few pounds by not providing convenient tie-down loops like most cars. They were able to do it without any troubles at all. I looked up towing on Yelp. I saw the review. I called. It was as great as it was supposed to be. $35 for a local tow (which was from Hayward to Union City in my case.) I called the guy the night before, and he called me back in the morning when I wanted to have my car towed! I didn't ask him to, I told him I would call in the morning. He tows 24/7. He really is a cowboy from Kentucky, and he's good at his job. If I could give it an extra star I would. And that's not just because my dog's name is CowBoy, too. I all ready put his number in my cell phone. If you live in the area and drive a car, keep this number with you! I have AAA, but this was so cheap I saved one of my AAA tows for a longer trip and used Cowboy Tow! Good deal. read more
