I had the rather unfortunate luck of getting some of my wires in my car chewed through by a small animal.... And so my car couldn't run properly. I called around a few places to get quotes and timing to tow my car to my mechanic. Everywhere else quoted 200+ and a 2ish or so hour wait time to tow my car from Mountain View to SJ. I saw Advanced towing had a bunch of good reviews and so I gave them a call. The owner quoted me a flat 165 without any fees. I was shocked and asked twice to make sure I wasn't getting bamboozled and that they weren't going to charge me hidden fees. The owner said it was a flat rate and I felt the price was reasonable. The driver came by in around 45 mins, which was quicker than everyone else. We got my car over to the mechanic and a had a good time talking with the driver, Mohammed. He was really a nice guy. They charged me 165 and not a penny over, which again, I felt was reasonable. If I ever am in some sort of need for a tow, I'd call these guys again. They're fast, reasonabley priced, and nice. I am quite particular about how everything would go, and the owner exceeded my expectations with how careful he was with my car. He used straps, not chains to tie down my car (wonderful), wood planks, and did everything to ensure my car would not scrape or be damaged even in the slightest fashion. The tow truck driver claims that you must text him in order to park in the regulated "guest parking" spots, but there are no signs indicating you must do that. If you are parked in a "guest parking" spot and the driver states that you did not text him, he will attempt to tow your car. I was parked in a guest parking spot and he attempted to tow my vehicle. I went outside to see what was going on and he did not have my vehicle hooked up to his truck yet. He continued to block my vehicle and demanded me to pay $100 for him to leave, saying "rules are rules" and if I wanted him gone I had to pay him. The vehicle was still on private property. Upon further research, California has consumer rights laws against predatory towing. Under Vehicle Code 22658, if a vehicle owner encounters a tower removing their vehicle but the truck is not on the public road, the owner may demand immediate release of the vehicle. Called them after several other Tow companies did not want to take on the task of getting my car out of underground parking garage due to very low clearance of car and garage itself. To compound the challenge, there is a steep angle to get into garage. Advanced Towing to the rescue.
