We needed our battery replaced on our Chevy suburban, we called AAA and they sent out Emilio from ProStar towing. Emilio was fast and efficient. He showed up within 20 minutes of us calling AAA. I think that was record time on roadside assistance requested with AAA. Emilio was courteous and very helpful. He got the battery replaced quickly. I'm not completely sure what breakdown was between the battery and the install, but it came in at just a little over $200. I recently had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Pro Star Towing, and I feel compelled to share my experience to warn others. Our car was impounded on new year day because it was parked where it wasn't supposed to. My dad was able to catch the cop who called for the tow request and the Tow Truck driver, and asked for further instructions on how to retrieve the car. The tow truck driver told my father to come to the address plastered on the tow truck NOW and he will be able to pay there to get the car back. My dad takes a photo of the address on the tow truck, comes home to pick me up and we head to the tow yard. Once we get to the tow yard, we see that the tow truck driver + my car has arrived. We go to the driver and ask him, where do we go from here. The entire area seems to be gated and we don't know where we're supposed to go. He says wait let me talk to dispatch. He steps away and comes back to tell us to go ahead and wait inside and someone will be there to help us. He ask for the car keys from us so that we can take the car down and we give it to him. We then start to walk along the gate to look for the entrance of the building. We BARELY make it to the back of the building when we are met with the most emotionally unstable man who seemed incapable of maintaining even a modicum of professionalism. He's yelling aggressively and asked us why we were there and barked at us that we couldn't be in that area. No problem. We tried to explain our situation, but he constantly interrupted us, shouting questions and instructions--barely allowing us the chance to finish a single thought. Now I understand he might've been surprised to see us there, but he acted as if we stormed into the place. We try to explain how we even ended up there and we are constantly cut off while he is shouting questions and instructions. Instead of clear communication, we were bombarded with incomplete instructions, shouted at in a manner that was not only unhelpful but also quite alarming. We tried to remain calm, but it didn't last long when we noticed that he wasn't calming down. We've never had a car impounded before and were unaware that we needed a release form from the police department. We had no problem doing that. But at the time we were simply following the instructions that we were given. We had no issues if he did not want to take accountability for his staff and what they told us. But all he had to do was explain the proper procedures in a professional manner. There were 2 of his staff present and the way that they stood idle to the side while the whole yelling match took place, makes me think this is a common occurrence there. He also claimed that he had received word that someone was following his tow truck to the yard. We were TOLD to do so by his worker?? We didn't get his name but constantly called himself the Boss to indicate that his word goes above his worker. Why his worker doesn't know what seems to be basic tow protocol beats me --he wasn't even aware that the company was closed that day. Bossman was aggressive from the very beginning to the end. I suggest anger management course truly. Honestly ridiculous how they handle this. Update: David, you make it seem like your manager calmly spoke to us when he was heated from the jump. When trying to answer his questions we were cut off multiple times. Our "arguing" was simply trying to answer his questions. WE had difficulties getting a word. I tried to apologies for walking into the secure area, stating it was an honest mistake and if we weren't told to enter the building by the TowTruck driver (who spoke to dispatch in front of us), we wouldn't have gone there. We don't know what the facilities look like when they are opened. You said you checked the footage, check it again. I NEVER gave your manager the middle finger, it was a thumbs up. I did it when he stated that we should complain to the police for giving us wrong information and I said perfect, got it, will do. read more

Prostar Towing was a real lifesaver as we had locked ourselves out of our rental minivan on a road trip with our new puppy inside. We had stepped out to throw the trash away after eating a burger, In-N-Out. The car was running, but the AC on, but the door locked. Had accidentally pressed the button for automatic sliding closed doors that locked for some reason with our keys inside. Luckily, we had our cell phone, and called AAA, the amazing part was within 60 seconds of getting off the phone with AAA, technician "Jesus" from Pro star towing pulled up, and within 45 seconds of arrival he had the door unlocked. They are amazing human beings. I managed to lock my car keys in the trunk of my car and my roadside assistance assigned ProStar to help me. Initially I was quoted a 2 hour wait time. I was not feeling well so I called ProStar directly to ask if there was any way for someone to come sooner. The young lady I spoke with was so helpful. She explained the limitations due to the number of drivers available but said she would see what she could do. 20 minutes later John arrived to save the day. He was extremely kind. My car doors gave him difficulty with opening so he got the trunk open. Initially I could not find my keys so he literally crawled into the car from my trunk to open one of the back doors so I could sit down and put down my purse. He was so considerate. Didn't know you guys checked inside cars before Towing them? Don't understand how you would know if my car was rummaged through or just messy if that's the case. One door doesnt lock, yes unless manually but how would you know that since it's your job to just tow? If it was on a flat bed then my front bumper wouldn't be bent up in the middle since it's pulled slowly at an angle with straps only. That's not the case tho when I picked it up. I can show blink videos of my car before it got towed and how it got towed. My car wasn't in the best condition I understand but my front bumper was. Filing a report with the police department doesnt take away from what you guys did and what you guys do lol. My stolen vehicle was recovered and brought here during the week while I was out of town. I was a little bewildered because of some of the reviews on here but I actually had a great experience. I called Thursday and spoke to a very helpful woman who let me know what would be needed when I was back in town. I went in today to release the car to my insurance and Jay was very helpful and let me take my time and inspect and document the damage to the car while I looked for my personal belongings. I don't recall the name of the guy that helped me but he was awesome and took care of my car (ensuring the car didn't get damaged while he was loading it onto the flatbed, helping to check out damages, etc.) Plus he was a Niners fan. ;) He put me at ease, was extremely courteous and got the car to the shop without any problems. This review is to express my complete dissatisfaction with the service I received on July 27, 2024, from Prostar Towing company. After I called AAA, a driver named Joseph (Call Number: 13117224) came between 8:25 PM and 8:45 PM for a battery replacement, as the battery in my vehicle was severely corroded and had also affected the connectors, which now need replacement. The battery was less than 3 years, so still under warranty. I had my car checked at Fremont Toyota in the same day, and their diagnostic results indicated the following (in red): 1. Battery cables and Connections: Leaks or sweats acid 2. Perform Battery check with MedTronics GR8: Battery fails performance test 3. Perform battery cleaning service 4. Remove/Install battery I presented this report to the prostar driver. He immediately dismissed the Toyota dealership's findings as scam, shouting "Listen, Toyota is a scam." This is before he even saw the battery. I said "ok let's take a look." When he inspected the battery, he observed the corrosion, took a picture, but made no further comments. He then tested the battery and informed me that it was completely dead. In his own words, "your battery is completely dead." I said "Then Toyota was right." He went silent for a moment then added: "Wait, but if it's dead, how come your key works and you are able to start the car?" He later changed his assessment, telling me that the battery had some life in it and, therefore, couldn't accept a warranty claim. Since I didn't want to make a scene, and due to my work commitments in Sacramento (all the way from Fremont), I agreed to pay for a new battery on the spot to avoid being stranded on the highway. I am extremely disappointed by the following: 1. The driver's unfounded claim that Fremont Toyota was a scam. 2. The failure to honor the battery warranty despite a written report of its failure and being unusable. 3. The apparent low quality of the battery that was originally installed, leading to significant corrosion. 4. The lack of proper cleaning equipment; as a result, acid residue is still present in my engine. (Driver told me he should have had some spray but instead he'd just use a brush). I have emailed AAA regarding this issue but wanted to express my disappointment directly, hoping this feedback helps improve prostar's service in the future. UPDATE: I sent an email with the same complaint to Prostar, and today (07/29/2024), a person named David responded, doubling down on his driver's handling of my request. His defense was that the driver was just following AAA policies, that Toyota's test results were inaccurate because they didn't clean the corrosion before testing, and that his driver's test results confirmed I didn't need a new battery. I am not convinced by this one iota, having seen with my own eyes the amount of acid that had leaked out, and the fact that the driver screamed at me that Toyota results were a scam even before seeing the battery. I certainly do not want to wait until I am stranded on a highway to accept a new battery. My final decision: Prostar will NEVER service my car or the cars of any member of my family, regardless of how many times they double down on their way to avoid a warranty. Final word: Steer clear. RESPONSE: The emails were a waste of time. You simply doubled down on your driver's failure to honor the 3-year warranty, knowing that a sufficient amount of acid had leaked out, which corroded the terminals and caused the battery to fail Toyota's tests. Toyota is a certified dealership and an independent party to this issue, so I trust their test results, which showed that the battery needed immediate replacement. You continue to ignore the fact that your driver changed his assessment, as the initial test showed the battery was dead. You also ignore that he was already predisposed to deny the warranty, claiming Toyota's tests were fraudulent even before examining the battery. Additionally, you overlook the complete corrosion of the battery. While there might have been a small amount of life left in it, only a fool would advocate keeping a battery that is corroded and likely to fail on the road. I was never told that a new battery was unnecessary. I was informed that there was some life in it because the car could start and the key worked. I was not shown the test results until later by email. I do not need advice on how to file a complaint; I have already done so even though AAA has nothing to do with this. This is YOUR service, so it's YOUR issue. You spend your time chasing every one-star review, which only highlights your poor service. Over 30% of the reviews are one star. You can sugarcoat it, but your drivers will never be allowed near my car again. read more

This company was sent by AAA. My wife's car buttery had died. Twice AAA sent this company, but the incompetent technician couldn't figure out how to open the door with a dead battery, and the attempted to pry open the hood to get to the battery, with a metal instrument like a crowbar. This caused damage to the latch, which cost us $450 to repair We called the company for reimbursement and they told us to call AAA. AAA said the companies they recommend are independent contractors and they should cover the damage Pro Star has many one star reviews, and I suggest you review them. Before writing this, I asked the manager ( David) to call me regarding this issue multiple times, but he did not. AAA also failed us by not submitting our damage report, which was filed the same day as the occurrence, for months to an adjuster. David responded to this post but would not talk with me. There was no pre- existing damage to the latch. Something bigger than a screw driver was used. AAA never looked at the latch as it was replaced before the report was filed with an adjuster. Photos before replacement don't show rust as the ptoblem- their technician just couldn't figure out how to open the latch. David's statements are untrue. Again, review all the one star reviews on this company. We had no problem with the hood prior to their intervention. The car was always service at Ford.
