This is my son's Jr. Black Belt journey story: First, karate is fun and the instructors are very helpful. I started Action Karate when I was just over 5 years old. I stopped for a while. But then I asked my mom and dad if I could go back. Since being back I haven't quit. With each belt promotion, I took another step on my journey to be a Jr. Black Belt. At times during my journey, karate, baseball, basketball, soccer, school and other activities conflicted with my goal of becoming a Jr. Black Belt. But I always remembered what the Creed says about quitters never winning and winners never quitting. That helped me stay motivated to keep going. Seeing the words self-control, self-confidence, respect, self-discipline on the wall of our Dojo also, helped keep me focused too. I learned 3 universal katas; they are called Universal Respect, Universal Perseverance, and Universal Intensity. My favorite is Perseverance. Did I mention it's FUN? The best part is once you get to the advanced belts, you get to learn weapon katas. I learned the Arnis, Kama, Sword and Bow Staff! My favorite weapon kata is Bow Staff. Martial Arts improved my life by teaching me to healthy habits like, exercising to stay fit and to try to make healthy food choices as much as possible. It also helped me at home with doing chores and at school with studying and homework. I have put in a lot of hard work to reach this point. It's been over 3 years and I am finally getting close to reaching my goal of becoming a Jr. Black Belt. I had great teachers to keep me going like; Mr. M, Mr. McCreery, Mr. K, Ms. Sue, Ms. Pam, Ms. Shelley, Ms. Deb, to name a few. What makes me really happy is that I feel great inside because I will be promoted to a Jr. Black Belt. I will always remember and use what I learned during my 3 year journey! read more

My Karate Story By: Isabelle C. Almost three years ago, when I was in 3rd grade, I started karate. I started out as a white belt and there were challenges but challenges make you better at something. Now, three years later, I have met those challenges and improved at home, in school, and myself. At home, I am more focused. When my Mom is talking, I listen and hear what she has to say, and usually it's something positive! Also, I have improved on self discipline at home. I make my bed in the morning, pick up clothes and do homework without being asked. At school, I try my absolute best every day and even if I don't get an A, I am still proud of myself because I tried my best. Also, it has helped me stay focused. I am always paying attention to my teacher when she is talking. And last but not least, I think I have improved myself. I feel that I am more aware of my surroundings, and I feel that I am trying harder to do my best. I feel more confident that I can do things. I feel proud of my self. To conclude, I think my training at Action Karate has helped me so much at school, home, and myself. I would have to say one of my biggest challenges at karate is getting all the way down on those push-ups, but I have gotten lower! I now think they are truly black belt push-ups!!! read more

I started karate at age 5 after I saw how much fun my twin brother was having in the class. He wanted to take karate for his birthday and I wanted to take dance. I ended up taking both! I have been practicing for over 4 years and am finally ready to take my junior black belt test. I am excited and nervous since I know the test will be hard. Karate has helped me learn how to focus in school and is really fun to be a part of and helps me learn control. It is fun and has taught me how to reach my goals. I started action karate when I was 7 years old, I was kind of nervous because I thought I wasn't going to be as good as the other kids. But I made a lot of great friendships and learned about many things like self confidence, self discipline, self control, Grit and Perseverance. Thanks to my amazing Instructors Mr. McCreery, Miss Pam, Miss Jess, Miss Shelly, and Miss Sam. They helped me so much with their encouragement and confidence in me through getting my jr. black belt. Titan L. started his black belt journey three years ago when he attended a birthday party. He was hooked the minute he came in and they had him doing a couple moves and even breaking a board. I signed up for right away after that and several months later, November 20 22, he was receiving his first belt, which was his white belt. He was so excited. The journey has not always been easy. There have been times where he wanted to quit, but he persevered through and here we are with him working so hard for his black belt . When I started at Action Karate 9 years ago I would never have seen the outstanding benefits of being an Action Karate student. I seriously injured my knee, recently, slipping on ice. My recovery has been excellent, and my ability to both deal with it mentally and my physical strength to be able to move. Balance, strength, flexibility, and good attitiude have allowed me to advance in my recovery. Thank you Mr. McCreery for helping me 9 years ago get started and be were I am today. It all started when there was an open house at PSC-Highpont and Mr. McCreery ran it. I really loved it and when I started kicking the target, I did it with lots of power. So I began doing karate. Karate has helped me get stronger and better at other sports too. Sometimes when I am tired I may not want to go but when I do, I am so glad I did and wish the class wouldn't end. Karate has taught me how to behave too. It has taught me about discipline, confidence, hard work and how to defend myself. I firmly believe that you will not find a better staff than the instructors at Action Karate Chalfont. They offer a very flexible schedule and the ratio is reasonable for the kids (their ability to adapt when the classes get large is amazing). Safety and positive child-management skills are stellar. My child has special needs and often needs re-direction and more motivation, but the instructors are so patient and skilled at bringing out the best in all of the kids - I am in awe of them! I started karate when I was 2 years old, because my brother was doing it. I have been doing karate at Action for 6 years. When I started with a camouflage belt in the sharks class, I was a little nervous. I knew a little bit about karate from watching my brother. Action Karate Chalfont has a very family friendly environment and wonderful instructors who are willing to go the extra mile to help. We first started going to Action Karate about 6 years ago when my oldest son was 5 years old to help him with his focus. When I started karate I was really excited to begin. Over time I've learned how to defined myself from anything with harm like a knife stab, or batting club swinging from behind, and straight right punch.
