So I started my free 6 weeks at Karate, over the time I started to return and like it even more. Once I finish up my free six weeks, I was asked if I wanted to continue and I said yes lets do it. Over the last 8 years its been a long and rough ride, with dating someone and then having to let that person go because of my actions, and then growing to become taller than my instructor, I still get told I'm to tall to this day by that same instructor. I have been through the covid era which was rough in itself. Over the time I have worked on myself and now Im going for my first degree black belt. Time to finish everything and get my black belt.

The Instructors know names within moments of new students on the mat. They want to have an Action Karate family and they do a great job achieving that. Beyond the physical element of martial arts, the mental element is just as important. The life lessons that are discussed and the way to navigate age appropriate issues are second to none. We really have felt lucky to have martial arts in our lives and plan to continue with this studio and journey.

Our lessons are clearly applicable to real-life situations. Access to Gracie University online videos make it easy to go over the details in between classes. The women in this group range in age, size and experience, but everyone is supportive and encouraging - we have a lot of fun! I am grateful to share this experience with my teenage daughter - she enjoys it as much as I do and we both feel more capable of defending ourselves effectively should the need arise. For my now 9-year-old, the anti-bullying techniques are very helpful. Her pitching coach has even commented on how her focus has improved since last summer. I was so impressed that I also started classes and the adult team is just as welcoming as the kids' team. It had been a long time since I did any regular exercise, but they work with you at your level. Being on the mat with all skill levels really drives you to push yourself. My energy and cardio levels are really improved, I've lost weight and am eating better too. The instructors are awesome and truly encourage everyone to reach their full potential. I am from the Bay Area in California and was in the Hatfield area for about a week. While there, I…read morewas hoping to train a little and found that Renzo Gracie PA was just a few blocks away from where I was staying. Figured I had to check this place out, as my gym in CA is run by Renzo's older brother Charles! Before I left, I reached out by email during the day, and then was surprised to get a call from Professor Rich Latta later that evening. He was super welcoming, said I could come to class as much as I wanted and gave me the option of bringing my own Gi or borrowing one of theirs. I ended up borrowing one. All i had to do was commit to a reasonable deposit that would only be charged if the Gi not returned, and wash it upon return as well. Note: I returned it and they did not charge me :) This gym has a nice blend of Gi and No-Gi classes, and open mat day is no-gi based. When i showed up on open mat day without a rash guard (yes im a dirty Yes-Gi person), Rich was super accommodating and even offered boxing if i didnt want to roll in their Gi pants and my t-shirt. I ended up attending a class with Professor Padilla and learned some super cool moves I have already successfully crushed some of my home gym members with. Everyone in class was cool. Its a safe and welcoming environment. No meatheads or anything, and everyone was helpful. The gym itself is immaculate and they literally sanitize the mats after each class. I also really liked the mat floor, as it was a little bouncy (unlike the foam based stuff alot of other places have). Thanks Professor Latta and Professor Padilla for a great experience. Next time I am in the area, I will definitely make it a point to attend classes here again!

He and the staff were determined to have him participate in the general classes. With the support of the Action Karate North Wales staff, he has been successful. He has gained physical strength. He has learned how to set priorities, as he often had to put off something he wanted to do in order to get in his 2 classes/week. During the COVID shutdown, he never missed a virtual class. Now, he is training for his black belt. He practices and does his best every day. Movement is not easy for him and he has surpassed all of our expectations.
