To Whom It may Concern, including Brett, Mgr of Action Auto CYPRESS, Late Afternoon Friday, Feb 11, 2022, I left my car, a 1997 Cadillac Eldorado Touring Coupe (ETC) to Mgr Brett in hopes of fixing an overheating leaking car up to 239 deg. I suspected a water pump and thermostat. The heater core was bypassed previously b4 coming in. I was right! My previously bought water pump, thermostat, belt tensioner, 2gal dex-cool coolant,  hoses, gaskets were replaced and $1000 CASH for labor was invested. I even tipped $50 to Service Advisor Oliver and mechanic John to share in the tip. The job was done right I can say now after using the car for past few days before writing this.... But this is what happened when I went to pick up the car Wednesday, Feb 16th FIVE DAYS LATER after turning in the car. I came in contact with Oliver Monday afternoon 02/14 about the car. We talked about a drop (or two) of transmission oil fell on the mech John, and I didn't like that because I had no trans fluid on my clean driveway while car was starting to heat up after a couple of short trips. Oliver was going to look into where the leak was from and get back to me with estimate. Tuesday I happen to be in area with my companion driving and I stopped by to drop off 2nd gallon of dex-cool and belt tensioner to Brett & see how's the car and get an estimate, only to find out Oliver ORDERED transmissions hoses that go in and out the radiator, which I DID NOT APPROVE pending on cost estimate. We talked, and he said about under $300 for the trans lines, discounting labor cost. He also was looking into fuel line hoses with at least 1 needed to be replaced. I DID APPROVE THE FUEL LINES because he gave me an estimate and I saw on his computer what he might order about $221 for in and out braided fuel lines plus labor. I went ahead and approve the trans lines at this time. Installation on these hose lines planned depending on shipment delivery next week. Soooo, time to pick up car on Wednesday 2/16 and pay $1000 plus $50 tip. I was out the the driveway and the car had too rough an idle with no throttle, almost about to die driving 50 ft from ACTION AUTO parking driveway. I managed to back up and drove back into lot. Mechanic John tested battery after car could no longer start, just click, click ,click. Battery almost dead. Oliver and I talked about batteries and I was thinking of going back to AGM type. Left car there overnight to charge battery. Thursday early morning 2/17 Oliver called me and said it is the alternator that died, not charging. He suggested GM alternator, cost to install over $600. I said the alternator I have is lifetime warranty replaced 2 yrs ago. But he said Action Auto will warranty 3yrs with labor. He was with customer and said to call him back after I decide what to do with alternator. I called and said I will tow the car away, and I did with A & E towing. It's a shame, all things happen at the the same time at Action Auto but I barely afforded the $1000 let alone alternator, trans lines, fuel lines in the next week for over $1600 MORE.  That's why I towed it away. Bottom line finally, I personally myself R & R the lifetime warrantee alternator, as of Saturday afternoon 2/19, and by the way,  car is running fine, NO TRANS FLUID AND NO FUEL LINE LEAKS of which I almost about to pay for service/parts I didn't need to work on. Also, fyi, a local tow truck driver said in past he unbelievably TOWED more cars OUT of Action Auto than to it. Time to find a new repair shop if I can no longer work on cars at 70 years old.  SAVED ME OVER $1600 ! Scammers big time! I am reporting this business to AAA corporate today & to the BBB & now have to file fraud on my card with the bank. PLEASE READ TO THE END & SEE UPLOADED PICS BEFORE YOU GO HERE. I brought my car in to be checked. They told me it was the fuel pump and quoted me around $695 dollars. Everyone I spoke to (family & friends that know more about cars than I) said that was too high a cost for the problem they claimed to be fixing. So I coordinated to have my car towed else where. (At that time they tried to lower the price by $100 but I didnt trust them). Plus when I questioned the price originally and asked for a explanation... I was given attitude & Oliver told me "I could call my dad" if I needed help understanding. 1. I know I look good, but Im a 33 year old woman. Dont tell me to call my father. 2. It is your job to explain to people the car issues & your billing policies. I could not believe the man spoke to me like that. I stayed quiet cause Im not arguing with sexist men. He knew he messed up when I stayed silent on the phone. So, trying to cover his tracks says "or you can call anyone. You know whoever". HOW ABOUT SAYING "SORRY". THE COMMENT YOU MADE WAS INAPPROPRIATE. I asked them to email me the quote/diagnostic. The report showed no official codes fir the fuel pumo, only typed in info, and then that info changed on the 2nd quote they emailed (with the $100 lower rate). So even thier diagnostic reports were inconsistent. (Posting pics for your reference). So I knew then & there I would not use them, but thats based on customer service. WHATS NEXT IS THE REAL SCAM...BE AWARE!!! THEY CHARGED ME $130 TO DIAGNOSE MY CAR. OKAY i pay and leave. I want to be done with them. The tow driver picks me up to go to another auto shop. The tow company that picked me up said backkk in the day this shop use to be the only good one in the area. BUT THAT IN RECENT YEARS THEY WOULDNT PAY THIER TOP MECHANICS FAIRLY. SO THE BEST WORKERS ALL LEFT, AND WORK IN OTHER SHOPS IN THE AREA. The tow company then gave me some flyers for other local shops in the area. Right away 2 other local shops quoted me $200 less than this scammer shop. Without knowing what my original quote from them even was I might add. HERE IS THE REAL KICKER... REMEMBER THE $130 THEY CHARGE FOR THE DIAGNOSIS????? At the next shop they diagnosed my car for FREE & gave me a full printed report with codes and all. THE FUEL PUMP THIS SHOP SAID WASNT WORKING & NEEDED REPLACEMENT DIDNT SHOW UP ON THE DIAGNOSTIC REPORT AT ALL. At. Friggin. All. WHICH DIAGNOSTICS IS DONE BY MACHINE THAT SHOWS CODES THESE DAYS. SO THE NEW SHOP SIMPLY SHOWED ME THE CODES AS THEY POPPED UP ON THE MACHINE. THEN PRINTED THE SAME REPORT SO I COULD READ IN DEPTH WHAT WAS WRONG. I THEN ASKED THE NEW SHOP OWNER WHY THIS SHOP IM REVIEWING THOUGHT IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP...AND THEY BLUNTLY SAID: "PROBABLY BECAUSE THEY WERE GOING TO GET THE CAR TURNING ON FOR YOU, BUT YOUD HAVE ISSUES WITHIN A WEEK AND NEED TO BRING IT BACK IN FOR MORE WORK". Again...the fuel pump that this shop Im reviewing said needed replacement is 100% fine in my car. I asked the master mechanic working on my car today if he was sure of that. Cause I was going to call out this shop for unethical & ultimately dangerous business practices. The current mechanic looked me dead in my eyes and said "Ive been working on dodges over 20 years. Your fuel pump is not the issue. Im 100% sure of it." I pick my car up later today with all the final paper work. I will be uploading pictures of both diagnostic reports & quotes from both shops. So you all can see the difference for the same car. TOTAL SCAM SHOP & WE NEED TO END SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES LIKE THESE IN OUR COMMUNITY. Really shady business. I bought my truck from a private party.. The guy I purchased it from informed me the catalytic converters had been stolen. He took the truck to Action Auto to get it fixed and install a skid plate to prevent them from being stolen again.. long story short, when action auto installed the skid plate, they drilled through the catalytic converter that they just put on ‍ I found that out when I had a mechanic look at my truck... Anyways this work was done in August of 2022 it is now April 2023. The paperwork from Action Auto said there is a 36 month warranty or up to 12000 miles so I called them up... Action Auto told me the warranty is void because I'm not the original owner who brought the truck in.. The paperwork states they replaced 4 catalytic converters and 2 02 sensors.... The bill was $8,465.40.... Since they were stolen off the truck, this gave them an opportunity to bill the insurance company. Find another mechanic... read more

I left the shop after spending over $1000. On repairs,and found that my window problem was still there. Oliver told me to bring it right back, but I had plans and couldn't. They had my car for 24 hours, they had my car sitting there and didn't call me when it was done. I had this experience over a week ago, and they never reached out to me about the dissatisfaction of the auto repairs. All they want is yur money. I filled out the survey they sent me online, And still have not heard a word about my experience. I will not recommend this place. read more

I brought my car in to get a misfire fixed. Charged 150 for diagnosing the issue. Fine. Assumption of misfiring was correct and a cylinder was infact misfiring. When they called me over the phone to explain to me the issue they claimed that they recommended changing all the coil packs and spark plugs. Sound reasonable. Quote was $875 for labor and parts. What the hell?? How? We had no choice so we accepted and left the car that day so they can order parts and have them the next morning. They told me they would drive the car for 20-30 mins to make sure the car was running well after the repair. They also quoted other issues with the car and wanted to charge over 600 more to fix such as a cracked intake boot, air filter, and an additional service for the fuel. I denied those as the air filter and boot i can fix myself easily enough. I could have done the plugs and coils myself but time was an issue and i didnt have the tools on hand for that. Cut to the next day after parts were ordered and at about 9:30 am i get a text the car is ready. My wife goes to pick up the car, pays and heads home. When i get home to look at the invoice I get a closer look at the damage. $300 for 2 hours of labor and a small note stating how they did the diagnostic. Seems like a simple test. Code read cylinder 2 misfire and a few o2 and cat sensors going off (expected for a misfire). They proceeded to swap coil packs with cylinder 1 and the misfire jumped to cylinder 1. Bad coil pack confirmed. Now i understand that maybe you should replace the spark plugs too but if they didnt note any issue with spark plugs i imagine they didnt look bad. So i could have saved roughly 100 bucks in parts and $225 in labor costs. WHY THE HELL IT TAKES 1 AND A HALF HOURS TO CHANGE SPARK PLUGS IS BEYOND ME. Then we get to the good stuff. Total 2 hours of labor. But they open at 8am. Txt the car is ready at 9:30. Thats a half hour discrepancy and thats being generous that it didnt take less because again, why the hell does it take an hour and a half to change spark plugs!! Then there is the 20-30 minute test, dont forget about that. Odometer check in vs check out is 1 mile difference. Even if they wanted to include the drive time into the labor costs, it still doesn't add up. I could have saved roughly $300 bucks had these thieves just had been honest to me. Maybe its not the best thing to deny certain services but thats my choice to make and would have if they had not witheld information about the test from me. I will never be having any vehicles serviced here again and I recommend others have their vehicles serviced elsewhere as well. They will lie and gaslight you to make a quick buck. read more

I initially came here for a smog check, because my usual place down the street had closed down recently. Action Auto went above and beyond a simple smog check though and gave my car a once over. They identified some areas both short term and long term that they felt could use some service. I appreciate the fact that the staff were very courteous and kind to myself and others customers. 1. Overcharged for alignment 2. No printout of alignment specs 3. Rear alignment was off 4. Alignment should never have been done because the front left suspension was bottomed out. The Action Auto nightmare started when I needed an alignment for my 1995 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 after hitting a large pothole. The car pulled to the left and I was worried something was damaged. I called Action Auto and got a quote from the manager Brett for $130 to do a 4 wheel steering alignment on my lowered vehicle. I explained over the phone that the rear steering rack needs to be disconnected and adjusted in order to do this alignment. He said "Sure we do a lot of these cars we know how to do it". This turned out not to be true. They don't take appointments so I had to go in early and wait about a half hour before they put the car on the rack. I told Brett I hit a pothole and feared something was damaged. They checked The suspension over and said everything looked "ok." However, they missed one crucial issue, the driver's side front coilover locking ring had come loose and the coilover was bottomed out! That means the left front wheel was an inch and a half lower than the rest of the car! Half way through the alignment, Brett comes out and says he needs to charge me an extra $60 because he had to disconnect the rear arms. This was already discussed over the phone and the price was quoted $130. This is a red flag when half way through the alignment, after your car is already on the alignment rack, the manager increases the price! There was no mention there might be an extra charge BEFORE the alignment. Also they didn't know the location of the front camber adjustments. This was red flag number two. At the end Brett prints me a bill for $195, yes $5 more than he told me. When I asked for a printout of the before and after alignment machine specs, he said "the printer was broken." I drove the car home and checked the camber adjustments in the front. One side was completely maxed out, and the other was in the middle. I then stepped back and realized the car was leaning to the left! I called Brett right away and he said to bring the car back in. When I did, that's when I checked the front coilover and found the issue. It was completely bottomed out!!! The rear was out of alignment as well which is why Brett didn't want to give me a printout. They disconnect the rear arms and redid the rear alignment a second time. I watched the tech do it this time and it took him only 10 minutes to perform this extra step which I was charged over $100 for! I feel I was taken advantage of by Brett and overcharged for an alignment that never should have been done. They should found out right away that the left side of the car was over one and a half inches lower than the right side. I ended up having to completely redo the alignment again at another shop. Andy's Alignment did an excellent job and was almost $100 cheaper! read more

I just got done with an oil change on my Hyundai and it took about an hour and a half, which was fantastic! During my stay everyone at this shop was really nice and approachable. I was a little nervous at first since driving up it looked like a manly man's place, but everyone here were gentlemanly. I was also nervous that they'll say everything is wrong with your car, but they didn't! They did a complimentary inspection of your car which I was blown away and even talked me about what needs to be serviced soon and what to look out for. Superb fresh popcorn while you wait and they have a cute little cappuccino machine too! The couches were super comfy and clean and the whole area look really clean! It seemed like they were super busy, but they didn't make you feel like they were rushing you. I definitely will come back for their services. If you feel a bit nervous, I completely recommend doing their yelp deal. I did! Tl;dr Just a bunch of guys that you can see yourself hanging out and drinking beers with that likes to work on cars.
