I brought in my old and new computers and after about two weeks received them back. The old computer would not boot so it turns out then when best buy worked on the drives they failed to put back the Sata cables so the disk drives weren't seen. Prior to that The USB ports were inoperable, so I had to remove the button battery and reinstall it. This cleared up the USB ports so I could use the mouse and keyboard again, but the Sata drives were still inoperable. I then tried to attach Dropbox to the new computer and it failed. After spending hours trying to get dropbox fixed, the Geek Squad gave up and told me to contact Dropbox support. So I called Best Buy and told them I wanted a refund on the $199 I paid for the protection plan. They told me my refund would be $23 because they actually worked hard to mess up my computers. Be wary of using the Geek Squad because their policies are not user friendly.

I recently purchased a Paradigm powered subwoofer from them, and it has made a dramatic improvement to the sound quality. I should have done this years ago but I didn't know that passive subwoofers simply drain power from the receiver and yet don't give good sound. They operate strictly as order takers and plug and play installers not designers, not system thinkers, and not problem solvers. There was no meaningful effort to understand how the system would actually be used, no optimization of what was being sold, and no evidence of technical mastery beyond basic installation. What was ultimately delivered was poorly specified, incorrectly configured, and difficult (if not impossible) to properly service or program. Even more concerning, there appeared to be little understanding of the equipment they were installing or how it should function in a real world environment. The result: a significant amount of money spent on systems that were either unnecessary, inappropriate, or never fully operational, and ongoing frustration trying to make them work. If you are looking for a partner who can thoughtfully design, program, and support an integrated system, look elsewhere. This was a costly mistake, and I strongly recommend others avoid repeating it.
