Had been looking at popcorn ceilings for years. Finally decided to upgrade some areas of the house and started there. Called Acoustical Drywall and Mike was able to come out for an estimate that day. He knows his stuff as based on some initial questions over the phone he basically hit the project size on the head. The estimate also ended up being the most reasonable, but the real selling point was the ability to get the job done within 2-3 days. Others quoted a week or more. Positives: The ceilings themselves do look really good. They were responsive, easy to schedule, and good at communication. They were fast. The Negatives: Some of our brand new ceiling HVAC vents now need new duct taping and sealing. They left a crazy amount of mess on our lawn and sidewalk, even with wasting a LOT of water power washing their mess away into the street gutters, which in itself was inappropriate. There is no way it's ok to just wash that stuff into our water systems. They gouged the corners of knee walls that now need patching. We can repair our house. But the water waste and contamination was not acceptable. read more

Oooooh man. I love these guys. Mike and Greg and the crew are amazing. We bought this house that had all these crazy ceiling tiles that were super glued with 70s era asbestos goo in 4 bedrooms and it all had to go. Synergy (who I also recommend for abatement) had to use an air chisel to remove this stuff and the aftermath was a war zone. Acoustical Drywall Services came in and performed some kind of drywall repair miracle. Our ceilings look amazing. I still don't know how they were able to make it look perfect. Mike and his crew of two did a popcorn removal, retexture, and repaint job on about 1700 sf of our 2400 sf home. They did a excellent job and were in and out in less than three days. It's a very messy job while in progress and you wonder if it will really turn out. There is lots of cleanup at the end which was done pretty thoroughly. Overspray was almost nonexistent and detail around ceiling fixtures and corners was great. I did have to pull out quite a few staples high on the walls where plastic sheeting was attached, but no big deal as I was up there edge painting the top of the walls anyway; just paint the holes and they disappear. If you are researching about having your popcorn ceilings removed then STOP right here and call Acoustical Drywall. I dealt with Mike and he knows his stuff inside and out. He came in and first tested for Asbestos. It takes about a day or two for the Independent Lab to come back with the results. It ended up that we did, in fact, have Asbestos in our popcorn ceiling. Mike has this down to a science. He explained the process of the removal and that it is done "By The Book", and it was. He provided a detailed quote and stuck to it. No hidden costs or surprises. I followed his instructions to the letter and the job went so smoothly. My ceilings are now Asbestos free, painted and beautiful. Excellent, excellent job! After the job was complete Mike sent me all the disposal documentation so I know that the Asbestos was disposed of properly and not dumped in our landfills. So I leave you with these two things for you to consider. #1) Don't mess around with your popcorn ceiling removal yourself. It may contain Asbestos and that is nothing you want to mess around with. I recommend you read up on it as this stuff is really bad. #2) Call Acoustical Drywall Services and have it tested. We did an extensive remodel in Gold River and had Mike and Team redo the ceilings (take the old acoustic off and re-texture) and paint the inside of the house. They did a good job on everything and worked in a timely manner with our contractor. They are professional and careful to hang plastic and cover areas that they are not working on. We recently bought a home and wanted to make some changes.
