The carts at this store are HORRIBLE!!! It takes many tries to find one that doesn't have a bad wheel that makes loud noise during your shopping. Trader Joe's is one of those places that changes what they carry often. So if there is something you like, stock up. This is a smaller location but they pack a lot into the small location. I don't know but this is what I had to pick out of the ham before I cooked it for quiche. Also, in the past I used to buy the Prochuitto there but at some point they started getting lazy and started cutting it thick! Something to do with subtleties in the demographics of shoppers here. A segment little uppity, little HENRY. Of note, Vanguard HQ is close by. I personally prefer Fidelity. Those who know will understand. Anyhoo, reason for this update, Wegman's now features Korean Kim Bap ! Options I saw were vegan (what a shame since I personally like egg) and shrimp. The shrimp is there but small and unobstrusive but yet it works. This is the bomb for supermarket sushi, and now the best Wegman's have. To me, Wegman's sushi has always been meh, a reluctant buy for the occasional lunch, for its convenience. But the Kim Bap is different. It is pretty good. Tastes like the real thing imo. Nice bit of sesame oil and sesame seeds. Spinach, korean radish, the proper seaweed. My new go-to. Feels weird it still comes with the little fake wasabi packet and the pickled ginger. Totally unnecessary. Little pricey of course, compared to what you would buy in a Korean supermarket like Hmart or Assi. For this price, you would typically get double the amount. But this is worth it. And the Kim Bap at Korean supermarkets have gone downhill anyway. I suspect they are prepared by Mexicans that are often employed there.

On a recent visit to the store to purchase 3 items, I got behind another customer in the only check…read moreout line that was open. The cashier rung up the gentlemen's order but could not scan his coupon with the scanning gun. He called for the manager who came over about a minute later and also could not get the gun to work. After about another 2 minutes of trying to figure out why the gun wasn't working, the manager suspended the transaction and took the gentleman to another register to finish his transaction. Meanwhile, my cashier could not use his register without the manager re-opening it. At this point, there are about 8 other customers in line behind me. After finishing the other transaction, the manager spends about 1 minute talking to another employee before coming back to my check out line. Magically, 2 more check out lines open up. With nowhere to go since my items were already on the belt, the other customers flock to the newly opened lines. I have now been standing here quietly for 10 minutes and in that time neither the cashier nor, and most especially, the manager never once acknowledged me or apologized for the inconvenience. Upon her arrival at the check out line, the manager took out the cash drawer and for the first time (and without apology) said anything to me. She informed me that: "You have to go get in another line." Upon telling her that I should not have to go to the back of a line and that she should ring up my order, she responded by saying: "No, you have to go to another line", I told her once again that she should ring up my order and she once again responded: "NO." Needless to say, I left the store without purchasing my 3 items, and I will never be back. I have seen some people that should not be considered "management" in my day but this one was the worst. No acknowledgement, no apology for my inconvenience and just expecting me to pick up my stuff and wait in the back of another line after I had already wasted 10 minutes of my time just because she didn't feel like ringing up my 3 items. PATHETIC!!!

Live from your friendly neighborhood Stage 5 Grocery Stalker: The new Lidl in Exton is open, and…read moreit's beautiful! Like a weirdo, I've been driving by the storefront every time I've been in Exton recently to check if it was open yet. I wish I could blame this excitement on being cooped up due to COVID, but in reality guys...I just love new grocery stores. Opening details have been suspiciously limited online so I've had to rely on good ol' fashioned drive-by's. Shoutout to my local plant swap group where I finally learned that - yes! - they're open at last. The store itself is very big for its category - I believe larger than the other Lidl's in the area and definitely bigger than the nearby Exton Aldi. It's super bright and welcoming. Even full of many other excited opening-week shoppers tonight, there was room to maneuver around and find what I was looking for. One thing I love about Lidl is their fresh bakery. In non-COVID times everything is available by the piece: one pretzel roll, one croissant, etc. Right now for disease prevention everything is bundled into packages so you can't pick & mix as easily, but the prices are great so even buying multiple of one product is still a good deal. My usual go-to is either the pretzels or pretzel buns, but this time I picked up some tasty quark donut holes which were soft and fresh. I didn't really come in with a list today, so more just wondered around the aisles and got a lay of the land. For some reason I was amused by the mini door freezers above the usual fish/meat sliding freezers. They make the store look more...organized? Futuristic? I don't know, but they're fun. Also fun: if you're used to other Lidl stores or shopping at Aldi, this won't be a surprise to you, but they have a decent rotating stock of home goods and clothing in the middle of the store as well. If you are usually more of a Giant/Acme kinda gal, you may be surprised to find small kitchen appliances, women's leggings, and men's boat shoes next to your salmon. It's always fun to see what random things pop up that you usually don't need but will be tempted by anyway. All employees were super friendly and welcoming, and everyone was wearing a mask. Of course the store is brand new but still worth mentioning that it looked sparkling clean. No quarters required for carts, and they have the smaller "half carts" which I appreciate because they're much easier to maneuver around the store. Overall a great first impression from this new Lidl and I'm definitely looking forward to shopping here more!
