This Acme has a great selection, is convenient and has quick checkout. As of December 2024 there's a store renovation in progress, so aisles are changing. You may see some items in the discount section by the pharmacy on the far right side of the store. The far right entrance is temporarily closed but the central entrance is close by. Hopefully sushi will make a comeback once everything is sorted. I like their selection of that, sandwiches and prepared foods. They have a huge selection of hummus and salsa by the deli. Was just at the ACME on Naaman's Rd in Wilmington. They refused to honor an Acme coupon, saying it can only be honored by the Baltimore pike Acme that issued it. In more than 60 years of shopping at Acme, I have never experienced an Acme market not honoring a coupon that says coupon is only good in store at Acme. read more

It's still bad. Service is so slow. Prices are better at Giant. Better meats at Acme though - but the produce is pricey and "meh". I shop at Giant in Aston, Trader Joe's, Whole Paycheck and Gentile's for Produce. Acme is a last resort and everytime I shop here it's out of desparation (Acme is the closest grocery store to my house.) That said, when my kid was little they let her girl scout troop sell cookies here and Giant wouldn't. They employ great people with diabilities but my inner-Manhattanite can't handle the slow, slow pace. Not a fan of Acme. read more

This Acme is near a lot of shopping and the old Granite Run Mall. There's been construction nearby for a while. The store itself is huge with a great selection. They have plenty of larger, bulky items (compared to other Acmes). Like what? Giant bags of tater tots. YUM! But I digress. The store is easily navigable, from finding what's on your shopping list to the physical meanderings through very spacious aisles. They have a ton of check out lanes, which is always a plus. The parking lot wraps around 2 sides of the store, so there is ample room to park. read more

The lady at self checkout needs to work on her people's skill. She stared me down as I returned and exchanged water bottles then stared me down again as I walked back to self checkout to pay for it. Then she started speaking to me in a condescending way about not placing empty water bottles on the same rack as the new bottles. I've been to a few other ACME locations and was told to place the empty bottles on the same rack as the new ones, so how would I know where the empty bottles would go at this location? To be clear, I do not have a problem with what she said, but it's how she said it, and it was not friendly. read more

The only reason I go to this Acme is because it's convenient. There's a lot of problems you'll find when shopping here. *very slow check-out lines *constant construction in the parking lot *inexperienced employees who lack customer service and constantly call for managers. (Causing slow check out) *Hard to see parking spot lines so people just park wherever. *a bit expensive I do have to say it's always very clean inside. It's also a larger store which is nice and less stressful. I like the self checkout option but so does everyone else so you might always find yourself in a line. It's a fine acme. Not the best. There's over 10 ACME locations throughout Delaware County, and this one is hands down the best. This store has plenty of space to shop, so you're not bumping into other shopping carts, and the aisles are bright and clean, always fully stocked. ACME has fresh fish and meat, along with fresh and colorful produce, including organic choices, fresh cheese, bread, and baked goods - like donuts, muffins, cakes, cookies, etc. They have fresh sushi made every day. The Frosted Mug is the best place in Media to buy beer and wine; no one can beat ACME's prices in that area. There's also a pharmacy and floral shop. There are ways to save during the week on selected items, all at great prices. I'm sure there are cheaper places to buy groceries, but you receive quality from this store; you get what you pay for. Never really have a bad experience shopping here in person BUT the focus of this review is for the home delivery service. I've tried Peapod and now ACME. ACME is far superior to the former. The shopper is actually the person who delivers your food and they also text you as they shop if they have any questions. Yesterday around 3pm I had the most horrible experience in the self check out line of this Acme. An employee named Bill entered my personal space repeatedly despite my repeated requests to stay six feet back. In hindsight my glasses were fogging up due to wearing a mask and the scanner was finicky and not registering my items even when I scanned them. This is how the incident started: One of my items did not ring up properly and I did not notice and set it in the grocery bag. Instead of simply verbally asking me to re ring the item Bill entered my space and grabbed the item and placed it back on the right side of the register. I told him please do not touch my items due to Covid and he began to accuse me of attempting to steal food. I told him I was happy to re ring the item and proceeded. A second item didn't scan properly and again instead of prompting me to re ring Bill again entered my personal space grabbed the item only this time he began to directly accuse me of stealing. I stood my ground and repeatedly asked him to give me six feet of space and to please stop touching my grocery items. Bizarrely, my difficulties with fogging glasses and the finicky scanner led to this employee repeatedly entering my personal space picking up my grocery items peering at the register screen raising his voice and being within one foot of me. He then began verbally complaining about me to anyone within hearing raising his voice and then laughing about how he has to deal with customers stealing. He then complained out loud that this is what he has to deal with as a "front line worker." I asked him why he would presume a customer may not also possibly be a front line worker? I work with adults with disabilities and all I do everyday is provide support to the vulnerable in my community. I could not believe how this situation was unfolding and I became so anxious my mask was fogging up more and I made more mistakes. I put my card into pay, at this point Bill was insisting on standing one foot from me and I was so uncomfortable I forgot to hit the pay button. I was leaving with my groceries and he demanded I pay for my groceries. Bills behavior throughout this ordeal assumed the worst intentions on my part, he treated me as a thief instead of a customer with fogged up glasses dealing with a scanner that wasn't responding. After I left the store I called the manager Chris and his response was that it was simply a miscommunication. I am a respectable member of my community and a licensed clinical social worker. I have never stolen groceries in my life. After I left I continued to feel distressed thinking about how this employee who wrongly believes himself to be some kind of front line hero may be treating vulnerable customers like an elderly person with dementia or a person with special needs. This is no way to treat a customer ever. If this Acme cannot prevent grocery theft without violating six feet of personal space and not touching a customers grocery items then in my opinion they cannot maintain safe Covid protocols and are putting many customers in the self checkout line at risk to prevent stealing from a small number of bad apples. This employee Bill needs retraining and possibly an assessment of some kind because as a woman his behavior felt verbally and physically aggressive towards me. I do not say this lightly, I am a licensed social worker and a licensed behavior therapist in Pennsylvania. If anyone else has been mistreated by this employee I strongly encourage you to make a complaint, none of us deserve to be intimidated and harassed by a grocery store employee when we are simply going about our day. read more

I just had the most amazing customer service experience at the Acme in Media (NOT the granite run acme - the one by the starbucks). I had ordered the Acme Grocery Delivery Service (also has been great) and the driver forgot to leave one bag. He communicated with me immediately and I told him it was no problem, I'd just go get items the next day. I can't recall the gentleman's name in customer service who was so sweet and helpful, but Anthony D., the manager, went above and beyond to make sure they wouldnt lose my business. They are very understaffed in these tough times and both had a great attitude despite the chaotic nature of a grocery store. My family thinks I'm crazy for shopping at such a small location but this is exactly why I'll never switch. ACME FOREVER! read more

It started to get busy at the checkout counters and their staff rushed to get more help to the checkout lines. I appreciate that they noticed and valued their customers' shopping experience. I did not shop at their meat counter or bakery... I didn't but any fruits or vegetables. Thus, I didn't really buy something where you could evaluate the relative food quality/freshness at this location versus other grocery stores. I'll leave that feedback to other reviewers - or an update of my own. In September of this year, my wife went to this location to pick up ribs. There was a special going on at the time (bogo). There was one package left. She went to customer service. She paid the full amount for the package and was given a "rain check" to come in and get another package within 30 days. My wife gave me the task of getting the rack of ribs owed to us today just before 9:30 am. After waiting 10 minutes for "Bill" in customer service to show up, I've dealt with the customer in front of me and then was my turn. I put the ribs on the counter, handed him the rain check and thought I'd be on my way. But no..."Bill" said the way it was written indicated I was just given the opportunity to use bogo if the special was not going on. I tried to tell him them at my wife bought a 3lb rack and on the rain check it was written "3" for how many pounds I was able to get in the future. Of course I'm not going to buy something bigger than what she previously purchased. After bickering with Bill, I asked to talk to his supervisor. He said that person wasn't coming in until Monday. I needed them today. I told him I was a great customer who wasn't trying to pull a fast one on the store. I told him he just lost a customer and I'd go to social media to let others know about my situation. I left the rain check and Bill behind and yelled bs k to him as I was leaving, "you just stole my money!" I will begin the process of going up the chain expressing my frustration with Bill and having my money stolen if this store doesn't rectify this. It's not that I can't afford my groceries. This is my favorite Acme location. It's in between the Acme in downtown Media and Glen Mills. The staff is always friendly and helpful, the store is always clean and well organized, and the produce is always fresh. There's a lot of construction around it currently (May 2019) but it's easy to navigate. read more

I only will use this Acme if I have no alternative; I have returned a Redbox movie here and then driven across town to buy my groceries. It is the Supermarket that is always on my route home and most convenient to me. Why? The staff are surly, unmotivated and rude. The "Customer Service" Manager/Supervisor is one of the worst of them so it is unsurprising that the rest of them are similar. Normally the younger members of staff are really great until they have been there a while, I guess the environment sucks the life out of them. An example; last year I waited in line to report that there was likely a large propane leak in the tanks in front of the store- the smell was overwhelming as I walked in. When I finally spoke to the (later identified as) Customer Service Supervisor; she angrily said, "I know". Then the Store Manager walked up and I repeated the information to him; he turned without a word of concern and walked outside, no acknowledgement, no reassurance that they would investigate this potential hazard. Any of the Supermarkets in the area have better service and are cheaper. read more

I have asked the store manager at least 10 times to get Post Waffle Crisp Cereal in there (I'm not kidding, at least 10, maybe more) They finally got it.....for about a day. I saw it in there and on the shelves once, now it has disappeared again. I have asked 3 or 4 times since what happened to it and can somebody put some out. Every time I ask, the manager looks at me like he is the most frazzled man on earth and he will get to it when he can. He also looks at me like he has never seen me before. Is it too much for a regular customer to ask for a popular cereal to be stocked? Was just in there today and nothing. Asked the guy and he mumbled something about the "grocery man being on disability" or some nonsense while the last time I was there the grocery person was a woman. Other than that the store is pretty good with good sale prices every week and pretty good checkout speed (My guy even hops behind the quick checkout registers when things are busy) but darn if he can get Waffle Crisp stocked.
