It was 3 wine tasting (full glasses) and 3 whole doughnuts per person - I did it with my partner and we bought a ton back. The staff is very knowledgeable about the wine collection, it was impressive. They had a live band which was awesome playing some millennial hits. It is also BYOF, so you bring your own food. It definitely looked like a place where locals hangout for early dinner. I enjoyed the whole vibe and will pay them a visit when the weather is nicer.

IMO, that may just be the best (if less scenic/festive...) way to visit a winery!! No lines, no crowds, and TONS of attention/inside info from the knowledgeable bartender (orig. from Guatemala, wish I remembered her name!!) My brother, S.I.L. and I each ordered flights... So many great choices!! I'm a white/rose fan, and I definitely had plenty of options. We shared cheese and crackers, and learned a lot not only about the winery and its history, but about the whole region as well. I loved the "insider" info!! Though I grew up on Long Island, this was my first trip out this way, and Pindar was a great first spot to visit!! Hoping this will be my first visit of many out to this wonderful "neck of the woods!!" Cheers!!! ENJOY...

It's a shame because the grounds are beautiful, the staff that sat and served were very friendly. I was really looking forward to this visit. In email I was sent the menu, reservation policy, and a form to fill out with the option to pre order the mixed flight ($30 per person) or antipasto ahead of time. I had confirmed in written email that I had a group of 8 and I filled out the form for "number of guests at $30 per person" as 1. Everyone else in my group planned to order from the regular menu and do a couple of bottles for the table. When I arrived it was very disorganized and understaffed, with a big wait time to be seated and served. We were sitting for maybe a half hour before someone addressed us. When they did, they came out with 8 sets of the mixed flights! I said that I filled it out for 1 and that everyone else was ordering from the menu. So she went back to check with the manager, Julie. Before Julie even spoke I could feel a combative energy when approaching me. She said she "assumed" the 1 that I put for the mixed flight was "a typo" and couldn't respond to me as to why she didn't communicate the confusion. She said the group number applies to the number of flights. She said she can't just have everyone else "sitting around" and I assured her that everyone was getting something from the regular menu. She said that she never had a problem before and asked me if I even read the information that was sent to me. So basically if you do a group reservation, everyone is forced to do the mixed flight. Even if someone else wants the red flight which is not an option to pre order. She said we would need to order the mixed flights first to be able to order a bottle from the regular menu. No where did it say any of this ANYWHERE on this information sheet. I did in fact read it multiple times and had my group read it before making reservations. After going back and forth with me, she then says "you know what, do whatever you want to do so you can have a good day" very passive aggressively as if I offended her and walks away. Her tone was extremely condescending. My whole group was in shock and very uncomfortable. At this point we had been here for an hour and we were deciding what to do from here. The waitress came back and asked what we wanted to do and I said I wasn't sure because I am uncomfortable with how I was spoken to. She was very sweet and was understanding. She told us whatever we wanted to do if we wanted to stay, we can let her know what we want, which put us more at ease. I asked her for a couple of minutes and she said no problem just to grab her since she's all around. We couldn't find her after that and decided to leave. As a customer, I am appalled by the behavior of the manager. This was not professional or appropriate conduct. I feel for the staff who seem to be doing their best with the given situation.

We arrived a bit earlier than our noon reservation so we can set up before she arrived and they were ready for us. They already had a table selected and cleaned for us but we were told we can choose any other if we didn't like that one. In the end, we stuck with the one they had picked for us because it was shaded and isolated so we could enjoy a more "private" experience. We were told they have live music on weekends but there wasn't any that day so we ran to a nearby pharmacy to grab a portable speaker. The winery/grounds were very beautiful and well kept. It made more a nice stroll while sipping a glass of wine. Definitely make sure you walk with bug spray because the mosquitoes are nice and healthy! The service was friendly and welcoming. There were only 2 ladies working and there were a couple different groups while we were there. Wine: our entire group opted for the summer flight which included 4 different selections of wine for $30 (see photos for details). The unanimous choice of the 4 was the "NV firefly white blend". We all got bottles of this to go and it's what we heard most other guests purchasing to go as well. They also offer the option of a custom flight where you can select up to 4 wines of your choice, but they do not have a wide variety of options. Food: they do not allow outside food. They offer a light bite menu which is limited to a charcuterie board, cheese and crackers, cookies, and chips. We got the charcuterie board which was $48 and I would say not worth the price because there were barely any meats on there (see photos/videos). We also got the pita and hummus- the hummus was really good! We also got a bunch of north fork potato chips which were great and much better than the charcuterie board.

So friendly and yummy wine. Plus they are very dog and kid friendly!! Our pup loves it there as…read moremuch as we do.

There are many other places like that on the North Fork, just follow the traffic. DO come here if you know about wine, want to LEARN about wine, want to drink well-crafted wine and enjoy a quieter, more civilized and intimate setting. Peconic Cellar Door occupies the space that formerly housed Provisions and Ingredients and shoulders up to Winemaker Studio. It's a small space but seems airy. White dominates and custom made tables allow for various configurations; You can get a few bistro-like four tops or join them for one, longer communal table. There is, of course, a bar. It's very tidy. But where this place shines is with their wines and the interaction with the winemakers. This afternoon, we had the pleasure of chatting with Robin, co-owner of Peconic Cellar Door and winemaker of Salt Bird Cellars wines. As the actual wine-maker, she was able to give us a deeper appreciation of the entire process and of the wine itself. We also shot the breeze about craft beer, Australian hops, the "agri-culture" Down Under and the hideous traffic this time of year. Try getting THAT kind of interaction at one of the gigantic vineyards! What's also great is that, since they abut Winemaker Studio, you can really get a tremendous scope of Long Island wines in this one, tiny joint. Hang out, have some great wine and talk to the winemakers, then slip next door for even more tasty goodness. Stop by. You won't be disappointed.
