I have had the best experience possible with ACIC Physical Therapy! I was recommended this location by family, and I couldn't be happier to have gone through physical therapy and recovery for my injury here. I had appointments with Stacy and she is very nice and I would definitely recommend meeting with her if you have an injury that requires physical therapy. Everyone at ACIC Physical Therapy was very nice and helpful as well. The people who helped me with the exercises I did during my appointments were also great, they always answered all my questions about the exercise and did a great job explaining what I should do and what area it was helping stretch or strengthen. Ramona is also super great, so nice and was super kind when I first reached out to make my initial appointment. She also always helped me with making the rest of my appointments for my PT prescription and helped me a lot when I needed to reschedule an appointment or was on a waitlist for an appointment. I have been going to ACIC for physical therapy since 2015. Prior to this I had been to many different "Physical Therapy Facilities", most of whom left me feeling like a billable number and not a person. In 2015, my then back surgeon, had gone to ACIC for PT and recommended them to me. I've been going there ever since any time I needed therapy. In addition to the back surgery they have brought me through 2 total knee replacements, and they helped me through each one with excellent and professional care. ACIC's Jon Dougherty has also been helping another of our family members with stroke recovery- He has gained so much physical strength during his time at ACIC and they have given a lot of extra individual attention to his routine to insure that he makes improvements. I really wouldn't consider going anywhere else. You are not just a number at ACIC - these are people that really care about YOU!!!! The folks at ACIC are awesome, from the friendly and helpful receptionist to every single staff member on the floor supporting your recovery. The type of care is more than what I had expected and care quality is great from all staff members. I truly appreciate and respect that everyone genuinely cares about your wellbeing and they are very friendly and helpful - I highly recommend it to all! I had pain in my left arm and upper back, where I strained myself from heavy lifting, and bad posture in my chair at work. This also caused back pain which affected my ability to sleep, because I would be forced out of bed and caused concern as the pain didn't go away. I called in to book my first session and they evaluated my pain levels and put together a bunch of initial exercises to help me alleviate the pain, stretch and strengthen my muscles in a good way. After attending a few sessions, I was inspired to use electrode muscles stims, hot/cold packs, resistance bands, foam rollers and more gentle weights to continue my routine at home and beyond therapy. I went to ACIC Physical Therapy for rotator cuff issues, preventing me from playing basketball, a game I enjoy, and want to continue. These people are pros! Stacy, John, Hailey, and crew really know the musculature of the human body, and how it works. The session exercises were varied, everyone does their part with enthusiasm and care. I fractured my left femur near the hip in June and went to ACIC to see John D. as my wife had a great experience after her knee replacement surgery 10 years ago. Prior to the fracture I was running 40 miles a week on trails (lifelong runner). John first asked me my goal and I said run a 10K by Memorial Day. We started very gently as I was walking with a cane. Normal routine was 15 mins of leg manipulation with John then approx. 1hr to 75mins of exercises on various machines and equipment with aid from his excellent staff, Nick, Dario, and Andrew. Everyone was extremely helpful, explained the exercises and supervised to make sure I was doing them correctly. I was also provided exercises that I could do at home on the days I didn't have PT. I was in treatment for approximately 4 months (until mid November) and by the end of my PT I was jogging on a running track a couple of days a week. As of mid-December, I'm now running/jogging up to 5 miles on trails and I'm well ahead of my own schedule. Back in July/August I really doubted I'd run again. However, thanks to John and the staff at ACIC I'm back on the trails. I also observed ACIC working with other patients and they were great with everyone. They also have a text message system for appointment reminders. I recommend ACIC for anyone seeking PT. read more

I switched to ACIC after lack of progress at another physical therapy place. The switch made a huge difference in my recovery. Stacy was instrumental in unlocking my first progress. Her massage work freed up my shoulder for stretching and resolved most of the pain which prevented me from sleeping. That let the recovery truly start. ACIC assigned stretches and exercises appropriate to my level of progress and helped me find ways to do them from home without getting a bunch of equipment that I won't use again. And they don't sell any there so it doesn't feel like a sales trick when they do recommend a purchase. But the most important thing they did was listen to me. If they heard pain, explicitly stated or not, they adjusted and experimented until we found the right technique and load. And this gave them the precision to push me in the ways I needed to be pushed. Firmly, but with humor and empathy, they worked my shoulder back to a functional state and set me up to continue on my own. I wanted to leave my personal thoughts about ACIC in Irvine, Ca. I had Rotator surgery and I knew which place I wanted to go to for myself to get as strong as I was prior to my accident and that was ACIC. My boys played for a competitive travel ball baseball team BPA and I was introduced to John Dougherty who was helping a few of our players with a lot of throwing arm strains. My boys were suffering from pain in their arms and went in for therapy for proper arm strength and conditioning and they were very weak with their decelerator muscles the ones kids and players don't strengthen normally and why they get sore and hurt shoulders and elbows. John has been working with several high school team players and college players in the local area and has a very good understanding of what training regime to give each person that comes in after he has done his evaluation on each persons issue. Everyone at ACIC are very experienced in the rehab department and they keep a sharp eye on how you are doing each exercise correctly, if not they will stop and correct your motions immediately. Now back to why I ended up going here after several years of damage to my body from numerous other surgeries, I search for people that will get me back athletically to where I was or better shape than prior to the injury. Face it as we get older I got a bit lazy and my workouts were more playing a lot of sports and not strengthening my body or working on my flexibility. I feel so weak when I'm doing my exercises each week, but it has to be done or you will pay the price later in life with chronic pain. ACIC has a family feel to it and after a few visits everyone knows you and its very comfortable to workout in this environment, I hate going to gyms not my thing, and never has been. They have two private rooms for people that prefer to be seen alone. The equipment is great and has all the equipment to get to work on your exercises. The staff at ACIC cares about their clients/patients as they are always watching you. I can't say that about other PT places I have been too in the past. ACIC is the best! I can't say enough great things about their staff and the treatment I received there. I spent 9+ months going there 2-3 times a week to recover after surgery for an Achilles tendon rupture. I started non-weight bearing and finished 100% back to my regular activities. Stacy and John were both extremely knowledgeable, professional, caring, and compassionate. They challenged and encouraged me to keep going when I was ready to stop, and it really paid off. I've been to ACIC twice now for injuries. For my initial injury I hesitated to go to physical therapy for over half a year due to previous not so great experiences with PT when I was younger. I would probably give it 3.5 stars if I could, but since I only have whole star options... 4 it is. John - one of the Physical Therapists there - is truly wonderful. He is the reason I even came back to ACIC. 6 years ago he rehabilitated my shoulder with me, and this year he helped me with my knee. He works hard, he goes out of his way to help you, and he is flexible with his scheduling (which I really appreciated). If it weren't for John, I would have gone to PT closer to my home and not at a 15+ minute drive. John really cares about his patients, and it shows. I can't thank him enough. I will say that if you go, beware of a couple things. I have had a few problems with scheduling, and it can be pretty irksome. I am patient, but it happened multiple times. There was also a long delay in my billing once. Everything was accurate, but it took months... which led to a lot of bills rolled into one. Needless to say, I was not happy. I sprained my ankle very badly playing basketball and was referred to ACIC, I must say my experience has been awesome. The whole staff works very hard and actually cares about their athletes/patients progress. I love that there is a real family vibe inside ACIC and I feel like I've become part of it very quickly. PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU MAKE AN APPOINTMENT! THIS IS BEYOND HORRIBLE. My treatment to ACIC was January 2006. ACIC was in network with my insurance and told me that they understood my plan. I followed their instructions and was under their care for three months. Toward the end of my treatment, I started getting a few denials in the mail. When I brought them in, they told me they would contact the insurance company. They said that I still wasn't done with my treatment plan and continued to schedule me. After reading back through my record weeks later, they told me that I was no longer responding to their treatment. My insurance paid for roughly 30 days. At that point I had reached the maximum benefit from PT. According to my insurance company, this was decided purely from the notes and information provided to them by ACIC. If that is true, WHY WOULD ACIC CONTINUE TO RECOMMEND THERAPY FOR TWO MORE MONTHS!!!!! WHY DIDN'T THEY TELL ME THAT AT THE TIME??? Isn't that their JOB? They continued making appts for me to come back. How could I know that I had reached my potential?! Then, not only did they bill me, but they charged FULL PRICE $175 per visit! Not the contracted amount with my Insurance, Remember this was 10 years ago. - and that is an obscene amount of money. If not illegal, its definitely unethical. I am not even sure I received all of the treatments that they charged. My recovery was marginal and I was unsure if I could expect to feel better. I could not afford to pay the $3500 so it was sent to collections which tarnished my credit. It was stressful and disappointing but I thought it was over. Today, 6/29/16, ten and a half years later, I was contacted by a lawyer to collect medical payments owed to ACIC. My last appointment was 4/3/06. THIS IS NO JOKE!!!! I had a terrible experience here. I specifically asked the staff how much the treatment was (regardless of insurance) since my plan had a high deductible. For some mysterious reasons, the staff could not even give me a rough estimate? Seriously? How can your staff not know the charges? More importantly, one staff named John Dougherty told me to adjust the equipment myself. Hey, if I knew how to do it, why would I need you? There are many similar facilities in OC. He is "old school" and by that I mean, while he was diagnosing my son he closed his eyes and felt, pressed, pushed on my sons back to feel his injury and give me what I felt was an accurate diagnosis. I absolutely despise Kaiser, my son is a healthy 17 1/2 year old football player that had a herniated L5 disc. Kaiser said there was nothing they could do for him except for surgery. I kindly said, "while I appreciate your K-Mart medical degree opinion, this is a 17 year old kid, you are not operating on him!" I was besides myself, went to ACIC and Dr. Yoshino gave us another option, needless to say...his option is working! read more

My family and I have been going to Ken for over 30 years. I first started visiting Ken's office as a high school athlete. Now, I have three athletic boys, two of them that are Division 1 athletes and one going into high school. Ken and his staff are fantastic. I truly cannot say enough about what they do to make sure my kids are game ready. Other therapists try to get you healthy on their timeline. Ken and his staff work hard to get your athlete game ready by their next contest. You can try who your doctor recommends or what your insurance provider suggests, but I promise you, you will be much better off going directly to Ken. I know that my son would not have made it through his senior season of football without ACIC's care. read more

ACIC is an incredible place for physical therapy. The acronym stands for Athletic Conditioning and Injury Center. As the name indicates, the focus is on helping athletes work through injuries and stay in a healthy condition -- though don't be scared off by the many high school and college athletes who are rehabilitating there. The staff is just as expert and supportive of middle age athletes like myself who went in for shoulder and knees injuries from tennis. The professionals at ACIC are phenomenal, both in levels of expertise and friendly attitudes. The team is led by Ken Yoshino, who not only has a PhD but testimonials and pictures from the many professional and Olympic athletes he worked with, as well as a trainer in Major League Baseball. The other therapists and aides are fabulous as well, such as John Dougherty who worked patiently with me through many sessions to get me back on the bike and the tennis court. And that is one of the best parts of ACIC's approach - they want to work with you get you healthy and strong and back doing your sport. The facility is state of the art. ACIC has more kinds of cutting edge machines and equipment than I have seen at any PT facility. But they are also special in that the trainers always work with you directly on hand-to-hand rehab exercises as well. All in all, if you need physical therapy, or even if you just want to improve your conditioning for your sport, ACIC can't be beat! read more

Dr. Yoshino is an old school doctor, he actually does a through exam with his own hands instead of just sending you to work on machines. ACIC is absolutely the best physical therapy place that I have been to in Orange County. I was referred to them by my Dr because of a Frozen left shoulder in early March. I worked mainly with John Dougherty and I have to be honest, had it not been for John who pushed me to my max limit I would not have had the range of motion back within 4 months, in spite of my busy travel schedule. John and Stacy were very accommodating and would be available even on Saturdays. The support staff here mainly Sean and Joanna were very easy to work with. Acic physical therapy is the best physical therapy facility I have ever been to. I swore I would never do physical therapy again after a few bad experiences. Usually you are with the therapist for 5 min and they palm you off to do excercises that you could easily do at home. Here that is definitely NOT the case, both Stacy and John are with you for a considerable amount of time and you are supervised when doing the excercise part of the treatment. I went to ACIC to get physical therapy after my clavicle surgery from August - September 2014. The experience I had with the trainers there was second to none. I worked with three different trainers and each was very accommodating, professional, and most importantly helpful. John, Shane, and Ken were all very attentive to my needs and shared the same enthusiasm I had to get well properly and punctually. Having a very demanding job and being on call 24-7 means that my schedule is rather hectic. The trainers at ACIC understood that and obliged to my schedule by opening their doors at 6am M/W/F. The trainers understand that many of us are busy and have to leave by a certain time and respect that. I think that's an important note: they work with your schedule and do no make you work with their schedule. Before starting PT I was told by peers and colleagues how painful and frustrating therapy had been for them. This didn't seem the case with the trainers at ACIC; they worked with me and never put me in any pain whatsoever. If I felt uncomfortable with a stretch or exercise I would tell John and he would make the necessary adjustments to bring me back into my comfort zone. Lastly, after being discharged by my doctor, John contacted me to congratulate me and offered to give me a post-PT workout regime. I appreciate when professionals follow up on services/goods provided - it shows that they care and that's rather important to me. Not saying I'll break my clavicle again to get back in there, but if I do take another spill then I know where I will be getting PT done. read more

I've rehabbed 2 knees in 2 years w ACIC, and have been very satisfied both times. The team - Dr Stacy, John, Sean & Tawnie are all very good @ what they do.
