Plus you get parking right up next to the train car. The parlor car offered spacious, comfortable seating, VIP time with Santa Claus, a hot adult beverage, or nonalcoholic version, bottled water, snacks, Christmas cookies, and a great narrative of the ride. You're also allowed to walk the length of the train, but you need to have a wristband so you can get back into the parlor car area. Be prepared for lots of traffic as you drive to the train station from other parts of the Bay Area. Traffic is bad during the winter if not always. The train leaves right on time so you do not want to be late. Also, the railroad provides very detailed and helpful instructions about how to get to the depot and how to navigate the parking and other systems. They have outside train cars and inside train cars so you can choose what type of seat you want. This is definitely been worth the money and should become a holiday.

Volunteers also operate the smaller train which is donation based so be sure to donate and thank them! There were lots of different props around the area and it was super nice viewing the props and exploring the backlands of Berkeley! The line moves fast too and the park is very cute otherwise. Afterward, it's about a 10-15minute drive back to Berkeley's campus so it's pretty close by to lots of other attractions! Definitely check it out if you're in the area! Bring your kiddos too!

09/26/2026: My wife…read more& I booked the Yolo Traveller Golden Fox experience. Right as we boarded the train, the direction & guidance to our seats was pretty chaotic & a bit confusing. The staff didn't appear to have a system in place for order-taking so the waiters almost skipped over our table completely at the beginning of the journey. There's supposed to be champagne poured at the tables prior to your food arriving. When the staff finally brought out the champagne, it was quite warm. The food we ordered took a while to arrive at our table. Luckily, the alien themed cheese burger & fries were actually pretty decent & we enjoyed it. They didn't provide any napkins which seemed ridiculous since most of the menu items were greasier finger foods. My wife & I felt like we lucked out receiving our food when we did as there were several other tables that were still waiting a long time for their food to arrive. I overheard at least three different groups of guests complaining about either the food or drinks taking too long or being the complete wrong order. There was honestly a lot of idle time for a short 2-hour train ride & it really felt a bit boring at times with nothing to really do onboard. There were speakers throughout the different train carts, but the music kept cutting in & out with it mostly remaining off possibly due to connection issues to some staff members cell-phone or device. Finally, near the end of the experience, the staff brought us paper review cards to provide feedback to the ride, but they didn't pass out any writing utensils so we were unable to complete their review onboard. Overall, the staff seemed undertrained & there was a clear lack of leadership/structure from the management team. The service was not great, the setting & ambience was only okay, & the experience/activity itself was a bit dull. The one positive was that the specific food we ordered was decent. We won't be returning anytime soon & I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

The train ride is slow but comfortable…read more If you're trying to catch the first ferry into the city for the morning commute be warned. There are two trains that funnel into the 6:30am ferry. One arrives at 5:58 the other at 6:21. Be warned the ferry is FAR from the train depot. I am a very fast walker and have come within seconds of missing the ferry almost every time. The ferry does not board at 6:30, it LEAVES at 6:30. There is allegedly a shuttle to connect the train to the ferry but it's nowhere to be found at this hour. I'm not sure who designed this terrible layover time but be warned if you are even the slightest bit slow you will miss the ferry.

I understand why it doesn't connect to the Bay Area other than the Marin people rejected it. The late night time are horrible and it doesn't go south after 7pm weekdays. For a commuter that's just a miss that they can't run it until 9pm like Bart. Marinites and Sonoma people are way too jealous and share nothing. 1 - It's CLOSED on every major holiday. They write all the time asking about how to get more ridership yet have 0 consistency. 2 - Entitled passengers as I finally had to take a photo. I've been on this train over 100 times and over 25 of them have had entitled riders who will not share seats. At this point I just let them complain and sit down anyway. You don't own the seats nor can you save seats for people jumping on in 30 minutes. The train really only goes 1 hour one way from larkspur to Windsor anyway.

According to Amtrak's website, the San Joaquin runs "between the San Francisco Bay Area (or Sacramento) and Bakersfield." I just wish the actual San Joaquin train ran all the way to Sacramento more than once per day. As of right now, for example, if I wanted to take the train to Bakersfield next Saturday, the only direct service 702 train leaves at 6:26am, about two hours before the first light rail arrives to Sacramento Valley Station from Folsom. After 6:26am, the only options are mixed service, meaning that one has to take a bus from Sacramento to the train in Stockton, even though the train does, theoretically, run directly from Sacramento to Bakersfield. In my opinion, it seems a lot harder to avoid airborne diseases on the bus, since people are more crammed together. You also don't have the option of walking to a different car or a different level to get away from a particularly unruly passenger, like you usually can on the train. A few weeks ago, a man who had just been let out of jail in Sacramento was being forced to either stay on the bus to Lodi, or go back to jail in Sacramento. He was rather upset about this, so our bus driver turned around to take him back to the station. At the station, a security guard from the jail boarded the bus and yelled at the man, "No! You're staying! No more games, do you understand!" So all the way to Stockton, I'm sitting like, two feet away from this guy, afraid he's going to do something desperate. So that was fun. Would have been nice if I could have walked to the cafe car to get a snack, or even just to a different car where I could avoid this scene. Not to mention the scheduling concerns that are created by a bus arriving late for any reason. Generally speaking, the train does not wait, but the buses sometimes do. On the way back, for the first time ever, I ended up on an older, single-level train. In lieu of a cafe car, Amtrak was giving out free snack boxes. As much as I love the cafe car, I think I love free snacks even more, so I was cool with it. Aside from wishing there was more direct service between Sacramento and Bakersfield, I also wish that there were more options for window-facing seating in coach. Currently, this only seems to exist in the cafe car, but if I could, I would probably sit facing the window for the whole trip. Overall, though, the ride is smooth, and the views are spectacular. I especially love seeing the miles and miles of almond blooms through the central valley in early Spring, and the snow-capped Sierras (from a distance) in winter. I just wish there were more options to take the train straight through from Sacramento to Bakersfield.

Either one works cause I had to do a transfer later to another line. I end up getting off Balboa Park to transfer from yellow line to blue line for Dublin. Overall, the AirTrain is very convenient. If you are taking bart to go to SFO, you will need to take the AirTrain to go to your terminal. Very convenient.

It is a great access to have Bart access in Dublin / Pleasantin area for people to go to work or site seeing .

This location is pretty centrally located to San Ramon, Pleasanton, and of course, Dublin.
