Scam artists! I had…read more$1600 work of work completed in my car. JACOB - the sales advisor or Store manager was the one that went over the work with me. He said "I don't know how this car is breaking. The brakes are at 0%." I told him to do the work that he deemed necessary or was a safety issue but not the brakes because my husband can do the brakes. When we went to pick up my car he told me the timing chain needed to be replaced that day and that would be another $1900! Not thinking my car was not even worth all of that work, I told him no. Fast forward a few days later my husband bought brakes and went to change them. They were at 55% and didn't need to be changed yet. We took the car another mechanic to double check the work that he said was done. The air filter was not changed. I have pictures of that. The brakes didn't need to be changed, I have pictures of that. The timing chain didn't need to be replaced, it was a lie. He didn't do an oil change or flush. He simply added oil to the existing black oil. I also paid for new lug nuts for the tires, so he charged me full price for used lug nuts?? my car has not been driven so it's clearly visible that they are used. This car takes my kids to school everyday and I was so worried about safety issues. So for them to lie is diabolical. That's when I knew I would be a customer for life since I live in Martinez. It's hard to find honest people these days! I've brought my car back for several tuneups - oil change prices are also better than the local oil change locations. I also had my transmission replaced and eventually my brake pads replaced. They always finish the work on time and are really nice people. You do get a discount if you can pay in cash.

I had an appointment, but when I arrived, I was told they were backed up -- so that meant a long wait. After the diagnostic, the service advisor told me the compressor was bad. He even double-checked with the technician to confirm that the relays and fuses had been tested, and the technician said they were good. Fast forward -- I took the vehicle to another shop to have the compressor replaced. After installation, the A/C still didn't work. I mentioned what Pep Boys had said and asked if we could do some basic troubleshooting. Within minutes, we found a bad relay -- something that should have been tested immediately. A quick test, the technican could have easily done was I swapped the A/C relay with the fuel system relay right next to it, and sure enough, the compressor came on and the engine died 10 seconds later. Extremely frustrating experience. A simple, basic test was completely missed, leading to unnecessary expense and wasted time. Friendly people, but I won't be trusting them with diagnostics or servicing any of my vehicles.
