We purchased our car rental package with American Airlines. In Indianapolis, we were shocked at how…read morelong & slow line at the Avis counter with only 2 employees. We waited just over 2 hours & at the counter. The lady at the counter couldn't check & see what we would be charged. There was one $300+/-charge that came up on the credit card machine that she explained was a security deposit & to call Avis with questions. The charge should have been $200, but came up $300 and she couldn't explain why. In the parking garage, Josh was the employee working. There were marks on the hood & front area around the hood of the car he was giving us. I was worried about being held responsible for this "damage". Josh explained it was a new vehicle & we wouldn't be charged. When looking inside the vehicle, the car was full of trash, we asked about where charging ports were located & Josh told us to go to a gas station & pick up an adapter. At the garage gate, the wonderful female employee (not being sarcastic, she was great), notated the hood & front-end marks on the "pink slip". She notated that the car only had 4000 miles & that "Josh" hadn't even taken the time to put gas in the car! It had less than 1/8th of a tank of gas. This sweet lady explained to us to take a picture of the "pink slip" that most likely when we return the vehicle, the employees will make that "pink slip" disappear & we would be charged for items that we should not be charged for. We were given a dirty rental car, with trash (cups, sunglasses, receipts, & used band aids), hood & front-end marks, & NO FUEL! Terrible customer service. Upon the end of our trip, we made sure to put more fuel in the vehicle than it had when we picked it up. Later that day two separate charges came through on our credit card. One over $300 & another just under $50. Since returning the vehicle I have had daily emails with Avis disputing these unexpected charges, some of which are for fuel. This has been the most disappointing and frustrating transaction of our trip & we won't be using Avis again. To say we are frustrated is an understatement. My advice is to look into other car rental companies. It seems like such a racket with all these crazy fees and surcharges for everything. Somehow, read the fine print before getting to the counter.

Drop-off was just as easy; I just told them where I parked the car. I didn't pay anything for the use of the car that day, but I did check the rates since the experience was so pleasant. For the Indy area, the rates were comparable, if not a little lower, than the competition. I used the rental location on the North Side of Indianapolis, which seems to be their thing with other locations at the airport and Fishers as well. The bottom line here is that I will use Sixt again. .

We asked Alamo about the long line and they said it's alway terrible. We have never flown into Indianapolis before but fly frequently and this was the worst experience we have ever experienced. How is it the other rental car companies have amazing experience and Budget at Indianapolis is the worst ever. We will never use Budget and Indianapolis should do something to make this company treat customers appropriately or remove them from the airport. This location system went down of course after a payment was made and I had to pay twice . I was told it would be refunded however it has not , but the 2nd reservation amount was within hours . Of course you try and call customer service and they have no idea what I am talking about they refer me to the local branch. And now the local branch is acting like they don't know , and I'm out almost $400. This is not right and would appreciate if SOMEONE can reach back out to me about THEIR error. Something simple as 2 phone calls and no one can seem to do it !
