If like us, you have no choice on who your company contracts to move your belongings, do not let any of the drivers leave until you hand count each and every item and inspect all of your furniture and delicate for damage. Once the driver leaves, you are out of options even if ACE loses your items. Don't let the driver leave even if it affects his schedule or you'll be sorry and have costly issues to deal with on your own. We had to use Ace for a move for work from the Bay Area to AZ. We had a piano and antique furniture on our initial assessment and were promised they would be specially crated. The promises made were not kept by the movers. At point of origin, they did not crate or pack the furniture. Worse, much damage occured and items were lost. To add insult to injury their insurer UNIRISC works through legalise to minimize having to pay. The actual movers insisted our larger items (piano, antiques) were to be taken to a local warehouse to be professionally crated and packed for delivery from CA to AZ and storage a month. At the walk through in CA many items in the garage were not on their truck. ACE rushed to put them on the truck without packing them. Our storage totes from the garage were put in the truck with re-packing. The movers told us they had to leave within a time frame or the box on the truck would lock up and the driver wouldn't make it. On delivery in Phoenix, ACE's driver insisted on leaving and would not allow us to count the boxes. He pointed to the inventory form verbiage "Customer's signature at destination means all items loaded have been received and obvious loss and damage has been noted. Signing the inventory does not waive a right to a claim." He insisted the form just noted his truck was empty and we had 100 days to file a claim for any other damages or lost items. Along with damage (a pallet jack appears to have been driven into the antique furniture, the piano had chunks of wood missing, the legs were loose, an 8" x 4" thick walnut foot-board was cracked all the way through and much more), there were several missing items. Most were the items they almost forgot at the walk through right before the truck left. Some of the totes items were dumped into wardrobe boxes without the plastic tote they were originally in. The box count of what was picked up does not match what was delivered by 21 items. (21 gone; we only claimed 8 boxes and individual items we couldn't find that we really need so there is still more missing). After giving ACE time to trace the missing items and ID the issues, ACE referred us to file a claim with UNIRISC, Inc. who denied reimbursing us the missing items (over $3,000 worth) because we signed that the items had been delivered. Their form requires written exceptions be taken at delivery and must be signed by the driver. UNIRISC stated our signature waived the right to file a claim. ACE works hand in hand with UNIRISC to avoid paying for lost items by playing with legalise. The promises made to handle our move were broken from the get go and the results of missing and damaged are substantial (8K+), but they are only approving some of the damages. As a note, we did not include all damages, as some were dings and minor. None of the furniture was wrapped. Several boxes also showed punctures, also as if a pallet jack was driven through them (like the antique cabinet). We did not include all missing items, because we hoped they would turn up, we just included stuff we could ID within the claim period and really depend on for home maintenance and also our sons' items after going through the boxes three times. Bottom line, don't trust ACE or UNIRISC. Don't let the driver leave until you physically count each item on the inventory; they don't stand by their word and you won't be get reimbursed for missing items unless the driver signs off at the time of delivery. read more

I would not recommend this company. We paid a premium and did not get what we paid for in delivery, insurance, service, and accountability for damages. They damaged so many items and then denied our claim for repairs even though I sent photos of the damages. We had to pay a handyman to fix their mishandling and mistakes. When our goods were delivered, there were boxes with nothing written on them identifying what was inside. Also, they basically dumped very very heavy boxes wherever they wanted and it was horrible and painful trying to move these boxes to the right place and sort through the mess they left behind. There are plenty of other trustworthy and honest moving companies from which to choose -- do not choose this one. read more

The movers came 9-13 to move everything out of the house with a promised delivery date of 9-17 - 9-20. On 9-20 I start calling every single day to figure out what time they will be here and did not get a response until 9-27 saying it will be a few more days before they will deliver. I asked for a discount since I've had to buy a freezer, two couches and a bed set just to live in my home the last 15 days and they said no. Terrible customer service that ignores phone calls and bad ethics for not applying a discount for a 85 yr old man who has a hard time getting around as it is. Use someone else at all costs. Ace was recommended by Yuri Kitaigorodsky, the Sereno Realty agent for my new Mountain View condo; he said that Serano's Silicon Valley clients report excellent experience with Ace. An now I see why. From the initial video survey in Miami Beach FL through final delivery to Mountain View CA I was kept in the loop and treated with kindness, honesty, professionalism, and efficiency. On moving day the packers represented what I had began to understand is a signature of the Ace culture -- they were also kind, honest, professional, and efficient. I am an amateur client -- had never before undertaken a (for me) large-scale move -- and I made very many mistakes in estimating my goods. In spite of that, the grace and resourcefulness demonstrated by the packers -- and by Will Nelson's oversight of the entire move -- meant that my MIami Beach pack-up and another pack-up scheduled to following it were both executed with grace and precision in a timely manner. Amazing. And, it doesn't stop there. When my household goods were delivered by Santiago and his crew, the Ace culture was once more in full view. I am about half-finished unpacking now and have discovered that even the most fragile of my delicate items came through unscathed. The single problem -- Santiago pointed out that the bolt holding a carved leg to a small carved table (I had noticed some possible instability in that leg before the move) had given way while it was in the warehouse and the warehouse staff had carefully wrapped the leg's damaged area in mover's tape, secured it to the table, and brought it to Santiago's attention. My husband says this is a simple repair and he will tend to it this weekend. Of course I could not help comparing this well-handled minor mishap to the many horror stories of my friends's experiences with other movers. We contacted several moving companies prior to our cross country move, and initially Ace seemed like the best of the bunch. To preface this, we have previously moved three times cross country and had excellent experiences each time so this wasn't a new thing we were going through. We had a great initial experience with our sales consultant. He wasn't necessary the lowest price, but he seemed to have the best customer service so we went with him. It was only downhill after that. We had several conversations with him after the initial estimate because there were some changes that we wanted to make to our pack. We took responsibility for some of the changes that had to be made and apologized for making him change the estimates one time, but every single time we had a conversation with him, we never got the correct documents via email. He was short in his conversations and always tried to get off the phone and very obviously wasn't listening. It took one last email saying we were going with another company if we didn't get the correct paperwork by 5 pm, and of course everything was straightened out that day. That experience should have led us elsewhere because it only got worse from there. Our coordinator was always either out of the office or completely unresponsive to calls. She would respond to email, but again like the sales consultant, she wasn't listening or didn't completely answer the questions asked. The only positive of the move were the local contracted packers who came to pack. They were able to pack a two bedroom/two bath place in a very short time, did everything well and were extremely professional. Again, they were contracted by Ace, not Ace employees. The experience continued to go downhill when our coordinator could not provide a correct delivery date. No tracking number was ever given and one day she said it would be there in two days, the next it was going to be five days. Well, sure enough our stuff had just crossed state lines into Nevada on the last day of our delivery range. When we talked to corporate about what it meant if goods were delivered outside of the range, the initial response (without any questioning from our end) was a very defensive snotty, "Well...you're going to have to pay the full amount regardless." We didn't say we weren't paying the amount and never even brought it up before she did. Our stuff was finally delivered, and the driver said that the warehouse told him that we admitted there was a cracked leg on our sectional when it was packed. Interesting. We never admitted that, it wasn't listed on the forms filled out as the packers pack up, but when it was delivered there was a large crack in the leg. Hmmm...so right now, we're still working on delayed delivery claims and the claim for the cracked leg of the sectional. Long story short, we should have gone with our gut when things got bad during the initial estimate conversations and moved on. We would not recommend Ace Relocation to anybody. read more

We have moved several times in the last 25 years. Able Cruz was our driver, completing a partial move for us from Seattle WA to Mountain View CA. He was the BEST driver we have ever had. He was thoughtful, and neat, respectful, FUN, and damn good at what he did! My husband commented that Able had a joke every time he walked through the door! He made what can sometimes be a stressful situation very pleasant. All items made it here in impeccable condition. I actually think, perhaps better condition than they left our house in Seattle! (He fixed a table for us as he put it back together!) I passed Able on my drive down, and I can tell you, he was a courteous and safe driver on the road. Our packers in Seattle were also through ACE, and they were amazing (-The Girls: Crystal and Ericka). We would love the same crew as we complete our move to the Bay Area. Again, having moved multiple times (Chicago, Minneapolis, Chicago, DC-Northern Virginia, Denver, Portland, Boulder, DC- No. Virginia, Seattle and now Silicon Valley) I feel like I am qualified to judge, and Able was exceptional! read more

Buyer beware. I used Ace twice. The first time in 2013 to move me from Phoenix to Chicago and the 2nd time from Chicago to Irvine CA this month. The weight ticket on my first move was 2660 lbs. Since then I have probably shed 300 lbs as I gave away an entire bedroom set, even despite adding a BBQ (no tank) and small patio table and chairs. When the goods finally arrived I was told the weight ticket was 3500 lbs (??!!). I demanded a reweigh and that came to be 3300 lbs. Ace says they compared weight tickets and although the two inventories "appeared similar, there is nothing we can do". Also driver was instructed and informed by me that he should not attempt to bring his 48' foot tractor trailer into the apt complex. He did anyway and couldn't make it. His co-worker said he almost hit a traffic signal. Driver finally found a smaller truck only to arrive with someone else's bed in it. Ace informed me that they wouldn't charge me for the local shuttle truck. LOL really? After what he was told? Good arrived 5 hours past the window with three broken items. Horrible experience. Recently I called Ace to enquire about moving costs for a cross-country move. The customer service agent was very friendly, but when she had asked me all the pertinent questions regarding my move, her computer spat out "request denied." I asked why, but as the computer wasn't programmed to tell her, she said she had no idea why my move was rejected, and I hung up, smarting a bit. I posted a review of that exchange here, being stressed about the move, feeling jilted by uninformed software, and wearing full-on crankypants. Rarely do I hear from business owners, but Craig Morreale, Ace's manager, emailed me an apology and said CSA's are never supposed to just say "Sorry" and hang up. Further, he extended an offer to help move me if he could. As my move was rather complicated, within a week's time, and needing to arrive in another city on a holiday weekend, I went with an independent trucker from Uship, whom I had been negotiating with when Craig's email popped up in my inbox. But had I had a more straightforward and flexible move, their rates would have beaten my Uship bid. Further, it was so dear when he self-corrected...he saw he was spelling my name wrong, with an "L" (as in Eileen) instead of an "R", something people do all the time. Thanks, Claig. :-) I am sincerely impressed with their customer service standards and will definitely keep them in mind the next time I move. read more

$6500 and They Thrashed Our Stuff We were moving from Tempe to Sacramento, and chose Ace due to a good consultation with the sales person. They weren't the lowest priced bid, but worked hard to be competitive and gain our business. On moving day, the driver saw immediately that the load size had been underestimated and he would need a 2nd truck. He called it in at 9:30 am. By the time the truck was filled at 3:30, no one had responded. He had to go back across town in afternoon traffic to weigh the truck and either unload it or find another truck. While waiting the extra 2 hours, the new owners showed up demanding to know when we would be out. Not really a pleasant experience. After coming back with a second truck, that truck's driver accidentally knocked over and shattered our outdoor glass table for 6. That was just the start. I met the driver the next day to sign off the paperwork, and he had repacked the truck so everything fit into 1. So, all our stuff was handled for a 2nd time. We ended up having to store the load at their San Jose facility for almost a month due to house closing and remodeling issues. They wanted to charge $2700 for the month. I researched a local storage facility and local movers and determined that would cost about $1200. At the threat of losing business, Ace decided to match that price. After already paying $5600 for the move they tried to rip me for an extra $1500. So, our things were offloaded in San Jose and then reloaded 3 weeks later for delivery. At this point, they were loaded/unloaded 4 times. The first thing off the truck on delivery day was a smashed lamp that cost $800, followed shortly by a bench with a leg broken off, another lamp with a smashed glass shade, some outdoor flower pots that were cracked, a ladder shelf with the bottom shelf broken off, and various other damaged items. Several boxes were partially crushed. We had multiple plastic tubs full of Christmas stuff that all had packing tape wound around them. The tape was gone on all but one of the tubs. We were also missing 4 boxes but couldn't really prove it because the numbered stickers on the boxes did not correspond with the numbering system on the paperwork, so we could not say exactly which boxes were missing or what was in them. The San Jose crew claimed no responsibility at all, saying that it happened during packing in Phoenix. The insurance claim process went ok. I sent a detailed account of what was damaged (along with pictures). They sent a claims adjuster out. He filed a report and got authorization to repair what was fixable. (Did a good job.) They called today with the final settlement offer, and I'll be paid within 2 weeks. It pissed me off that they denied some of the broken items because they didn't pack them. So, it's OK if they drop, play catch with, or sit on your boxes for lunch, but if they didn't pack it they're not responsible for it. There are a lot of moving companies out there. Think very carefully before choosing this one. read more

The salesman for ACE knew his business and was quite professional and helpful. The person in their California office facilitating the move was also quite helpful through the process and was pretty good about keeping us informed. Unfortunately, everyone operating between those two people were not much help at all. The company sent two packers to our two bedroom apartment and they proceeded to take all day to pack such a small space. When the truck showed up the next day, the three man crew mosied themselves into loading our stuff over a six hour period in 100+ degree heat. The delivery to our new home was supposed to be made in three to ten days but instead took almost twenty. (Granted we delayed them three days at the end because it was easier to unload in the new house rather than the storage unit that we had rented to temporarily store our stuff originally.) The other reviews of this company are pretty good, so our experience may be atypical. However, my best advice is to do your own packing and use this company only if you are relocating somewhere that they regularly deliver to. read more

I had Ace pack and move me. I was not made aware that I couldn't use a credit card upon delivery. I live in a very small town and told the mover I would be right back with a cashier check. When I got back they had unloaded everything and told me they checked off all the boxes and they were all there. My stuff was moved into a large warehouse type building and my boxes were packed so tight together it was hard to get to stuff. I went through all my boxes (which took longer because of how tight they were packed in) in the warehouse and noted things that were missing. However, I did file my claim prior to the deadline. I was told since the boxes were checked off they were not liable and that I could have gone through all my boxes before the movers left and that this is something people frequently do. This is not something I believe they would have waited around for as it would have taken hours and the movers seemed in a hurry to leave. It was also commented that I didn't file the claim until several months later (again I was within the deadline) . The packing also left things to be desired. None of the pieces to one of my bed frames made it and the other bedframe pieces were just thrown loosely on the warehouse floor and some were missing. The screws for my large dresser mirror were in the amoire which I wasn't made aware of so the other movers could not put together my bed or my dresser mirror . My tv remotes were nowhere near the tv and weren't labeled and I had to buy a new cord to the tv because I never found the original. RE: the damaged items I sent them pictures like they asked but they tried to tell me that they were damaged when I moved again which was completely untrue. Basically I am out about $500 of missing and damaged items and they are taking no responsibility whatsoever. I was warned against using them and I should have listened. read more

What a rip off. I* paid for full value insurance on my move. When they delivered it the driver noted on the paperwork some of the damage. They sent out a guessstimater to look at the damage. he was in our house maybe 10 minutes running around with a phone taking pictures. I had quotes from 3 different relocation services and I chose to go with you because of Bruce. Bruce did an excellent job in thoroughly conveying the integrity of his company and painted a complete picture of how our move would work. When you take the extra time to make people feel comfortable and understand why their possessions are going to be safe with your company, that's where you win customer's business over the competitors. When we needed more boxes, Bruce actually took the time to pick up boxes in his own vehicle and deliver them out to our house in Chandler, AZ personally, TWICE. Worst move ever!! Do not use them!! Lots of added fees even after you signed a contract. They also only sent three guys and a small truck to load our 3000 sq foot house. It took 12.5 hours to just load!!!! They had to make two trips to the warehouse (45 min away). The second truck load was left in the truck next to the warehouse uncured. We are a military family that used this company from Monterey, CA to El Paso, TX. This moving company was by far the best we have ever used. Our mover, Abel, was on time, professional, friendly, and worked fast. He packaged our paintings, china, crystal and furniture so well, everything was delivered unbroken or undamaged. What was also nice was that he packed us up in CA and unpacked us in TX. When I couldn't find an item that I had unpacked, Abel went through all the empty boxes that were back in the truck and rechecked through all the paper and found it for me. I can't say enough about his professionalism and great attitude. I was completely put at ease and felt less stressed about our big move because of not only our mover, but because we went with such a reputable company. The materials used for packaging and boxes were all top quality for our material items. We received our belongings ahead of schedule and Abel unpacked everything, plus took the boxes with him. My husband and I sold our house in Phoenix prior to our house being completed in Prescott so we had to have our belongings stored for one month. Our experience was great beginning with our sales rep, then moving coordinator to Ace's crew. I cannot say enough about how pleased I am with my interactions with Ace Relocation Systems (Atlas operated). We moved from Fairfax,VA to Phoenix, AZ two weeks ago. Ace Relocation coordinated the move out of their Maryland office. Robin McCarty provided my initial estimate and follow-up. Before selecting Ace and Atlas, I spoke with 6 other moving companies, including Graeble, Nationwide, and Mayflower, and others. Robin's quick response to all my inquiries, and her impressive sense of professionalism was the reason why I selected Ace and Atlas, even though I had a lower bid in-hand from a competitor. She offered me the confidence I was looking for in making our move. Theresa DeHart was my next point of contact and she handled the logistics of the move from start to finish. Like Robin, Theresa was quick to return my calls and answer all my questions - even the most minor. She followed up with me on the day of my pack, and on my loading day and delivery day. She also coordinated box removal for me after the move was completed. Simply put, she was terrific. William (Dave) Haines was my van operator. What a gem!!!! I could not have imagined working with anyone better. He called us in advance of the pack and load to tell us when he would arrive - then arrived at when expected. He also called us in advance of our delivery and told us when he would be onsite to unload the truck, and then followed through. He handled his crews marvelously, and my interactions with him put my mind at ease about the long transit. I knew I could trust that he would do everything he could to ensure that our furnishings arrived with care. This was my second move with a professional moving service and Ace's quality of service eclipsed the other. I can't rate Ace Relocation high enough! There should be 10 stars! They just moved 40 years of accumulated stuff from Long Beach, Ca to Mansfield, Tx and our experience with them was wonderful. Abel Cruz is a pro and one of the nicest people I've ever met. He showed up right on time at the beginning and the end and was able to load and unload everything in record time. We had nothing scratched, broken, or dirtied. The men that helped him were also great. I had to smile when they were loading the truck and one of the young men cut a corner across the grass at the edge of the driveway. No harm, but Abel immediately told him not to run across that grass again. They didn't bump any walls, scrape any floors and Abel went thru at the end making sure we didn't forget to pack anything. This was a very stressful month after our house sold in one day and we had a 30 day escrow, but Abel and Ace Relocation made sure our move went smooth as silk. Thank you again, guys! read more
