I have visited the Ace Hardware in Woodbury many times when I visit friends nearby. I have always found the personnel to be friendly and extremely helpful. On a recent visit to get a battery for the smart key to my car--- Keith offered to install the battery due to the fact it required tiny phillips head screws. I drove over 30 minutes to pick up my online order after receiving a confirmation that it was ready for pickup. When I got there I was told my order was cancelled but was never notified about it. When I asked why it was cancelled I got two different stories. One guy told me that he believes it arrived damaged. I bought the item because it was on sale through an online only deal. The other guy said he thinks someone may have picked it up but never saw it come in. They tried to sell me another brand that was twice the price. That's not why I drive there. They told me I would have to reorder it and then come back to pick it up or to try another location. I told them how frustrated I was that I was never notified about the canceled order. They didn't seem to care other than trying to sell me another more expensive product. That aside, they will not get my business again! Terrible customer service! read more

Writing on behalf of my husband who frequents this store most weekends he is not working. The customer service is what keeps him coming back to this smaller hardware store versus the larger chains. Even if he doesn't have a specific item in mind, he likes to "take a drive" down there. Although I strongly suspect he is using this store as a bit of an escape- I get it - it's like Marshall's for me ;) he just always sings the praises of this business- I thought I would share his sentiment. I LOVE this store, If I have gone into this store 10 times, 9 of them I can find what I need. I find everything I need from the EXCEPTIONAL, PROFESSIONAL, HELPFUL, COURTEOUS, FRIENDLY Staff. Have I said used enough adjectives ????? The last time I was in the store 2/25 a gentleman by the name of Roger walked around and helped me with a list of items. It's right down the street, and it has everything! I have yet to walk out without whatever obscure part I went in to locate. They have great seasonal merchandise, lots of local flavor, and one of the cheapest prices on propane in the area. They're open seven days a week, and small enough to know everyone who walks in. I love this location! There is a very experienced guy who works here and always comes up with solutions that are outside of the box, more affordable than just "buying a new one", and that just plain work. Other staff is very helpful. They make sure you are taken care of and will walkie other workers if they do not have the right answer to see if the rest of the team knows it. Prices might be a bit higher on some items, but you are paying for the expertise of getting the right item without having to hunt down a shoulder shrugging employee and for the higher quality of the product itself. In some cases, I even spent less on a part that would have been more expensive at one of the major hardware chains. I always look for the Ace brand items. The hours can be tough at times, but it is well worth the special trip on the weekend. There is also a rewards card that gives points per dollar and leads up to money off of a purchase. Once I signed up for the card, I received a couple of $5 off a purchase in the mail. The area is beautiful and peaceful and the parking lot has plenty of spaces. I have been going here for a year and will continue to do so. If you live in the area or are looking for an old fashioned hardware experience, I recommend taking the trip. read more

I stopped in a few days ago for a shower head. A gentleman helped me chose what he ensured was a very good, very powerful shower head. The shower head was however extremely terrible. There was no power. Streams were shooting out in all different directions (the way an old mildew filled head would). When I went a k to return the shower head I was told there was. I thing they could do. Moral of the story: Don't trust there advice bc they are shooting from the hip. And if they mess up they will not correct their error. read more

Great place to do business with. Well stocked store with helpful and knowledgeable staff. They give a high level of customer service that is a rarity now days. They went above and beyond to match paint for me. Even though it was a small sale and only a quart of paint they spent over 30 minutes doing research. They even called another store out of state to get it right. Always worth the drive from another town to do business there. read more
