Great neighborhood store. Great selection. It has become almost like a general store recently, kitchenwares, gifts, gourmet food, unique selection of products/gadgets. Surprising, but it kind of works - especially if you need an impromptu gift and no time to hit a mall. Their plant selection is good and I always find something tried & true and with a reasonable price. I like being able to get what I need when I don't have the stamina for Home Depot. It's always easy to find an employee to answer a question and the cashiers are friendly (they keep a nice amount of lines open. Paint department is really good and I have to give a shout out to Alondra. She mixed a custom color for me and not only was she knowledgeable and made my selection quickly, she was thorough, helped me land on the appropriate finish I needed, and was so thoughtful & friendly throughout. What happened to this location? It was so much better until it became Ace. I had a previous review of 2 star review but now I feel so moved to give them 1 star. There's not one friendly face. If Disneyland is the happiest place on earth this has to be the sadest. I asked nicely Rafeal at the customer service a questibn and his attitude was so off putting. He must have been having the worst day. Seems all the employees hate their job. There's not one person that offers you help. In the nursery those people seem so upset I feel they want you to stay away. It wasn't always like this. This place used to be great until it became ACE, and the prices are much higher even with the times. There's a good selection here and parking is good. I can't really complain about my shopping trip here. Big, free parking lot, decent location off of Olympic, and they had what I needed. Of all things to get at an Ace Hardware store, I was here to simply purchase...hand soap. method hand gel soap is getting harder to find since target doesn't carry this particular variety anymore, but a representative over the phone told me to check out Ace (of all places). It was on their site, and I was glad to see this was also available in-store to avoid the shipping charges. Finding it in the specified aisle was a little difficult; I swear I can read but it was in a separate area but once I found it, this was easy. The only annoying thing was when I first went to open the bottle, the top of it cracked but since this is standing upright, I don't have to worry about this leaking/spilling. I was thinking of exchanging it, but decided to keep it and just use up the bottle. I know where to buy this again once I run out. read more

Smaller than super stores like Home Depot and Lowe's, I find Ace to be easier to shop and better staffed with friendly people who seem more empathetic to novice shoppers like me. The smaller store means you don't have to walk too far to find the things you want. They carry a good variety of merchandise - maybe not as many as the super stores but enough for household projects. Most of the products seem priced reasonably- at par with the big stores; some items may be slightly higher, but the convenience and ease of shopping are worth it! This one is conveniently located in west LA near Bundy and Olympic. They have a large free parking lot, and they are open till 8pm most of the nights. read more

I haven't been to this location in quite awhile. I was here recently to replace a garden hose. It took awhile to find an employee to help me. The gardening employee was somewhat helpful, even though he mentioned several times that hoses weren't in his area. I needed a basic medium sized hose. I thought $22.00 was too much for a hose & left. I was totally turned off by the lack of customer service & won't ve returning. I would suggest that Management counsel the staff in customer service, as it was a very bad experience. read more

Terrible customer service. I came in around 5:30 PM on 3/21 to make some key copies. There were three employees behind the register and the store wasn't busy at all. One person, who looked like he might have been a manager, was on his phone and simply glanced over at me and another gentleman waiting in line. Instead of acknowledging us or letting us know someone would help shortly, the staff completely ignored us and seemed to panic looking around the floor for someone to make the keys. We stood there waiting for about 10 minutes while several employees were just standing behind the register doing nothing before anyone finally came over to assist us. A simple acknowledgment like "we'll be right with you" would have gone a long way. The lack of professionalism and basic customer service was really disappointing. read more

Dennis and Parker were really kind when I approach the store at exactly 7:35 pm. I was dropping off screens to be fixed. Parker walked out to my truck with no hesitation. Super kind really polite help me get the big screen sliding doors out. When I went to get them written up, it was Dennis. He was kind gave me options of color of screen and was so willing to help in anyway he could. These young men plus Adam was super kind and didn't make me feel bad by getting there at almost closing time. It was just like it was 8 o'clock in the morning. I highly recommend the store. Would not let me return or exchange an unused, small ladder for a larger one. Also, they only allow same store returns only. They claim they are a "mom and pop" store, under a corporate umbrella... I advise never to shop at ACE if you don't have to, they make stuff up as they go and you will not be able to return or even exchange most items. This review is specifically about the paint department. There are two young guys who work there and one deserves five stars while the one deserves one star, hence the average of three stars. The young Asian guy with short hair is fantastic. Very knowledgeable and helpful. The other skinny Asian guy with a ponytail is absolutely terrible. He takes fake phone calls to avoid helping customers and then once you get his attention, he pretends he doesn't know about the paints so he doesn't have to answer your questions. Why do you work in the paint department then?? Super rude and absolutely useless. Fire the second guy and give the first guy a raise! read more

This Ace Hardware supplanted the old OSH, or Orchard, that used to be at the same address. They have much the same layout. This store is a good alternative to places like Lowe's or Home Depot. The customers are mostly regular homeowners and handymen, but the warehouse stores are full of workmen and are packed in the mornings. The service is friendly, if not expert, and I have usually been able to find what I'm looking for. The arrangement of bolts, screws, and washers is good, and unless you're installing new bathroom or kitchen walls, floors, and amenities you should be able to find what you need. The costs are pretty standard, maybe a bit higher than the bigger stores. One thing I have been able to find, that is not in the big stores, is a water main T-wrench that works on the old city water valves. read more

I like the Ace hardware chain and this store is impressive in West LA just north of Olympic on Bundy. There is a huge selection of items and they had everything I wanted including the exact type of folding knife for only $15. I also bought a nice Master lock for only $18. Service was also above average and on point. There is ample parking and also bike stands which I appreciated. This is the best and largest Ace hardware I've ever patronized. This store is the most convenient for me and is good for the most part. Sometimes it can be hard to find assistance, but usually someone is available. My only complaint are the quality of the the LED two pin light bulbs. I had this problem before (a while ago) and thought it was a one off thing, but it doesn't appear to be. I noticed that some of the light bulbs on the rack had been taped up because they presumably were returns, so I skip those and go for the new packaging. So yesterday I purchased some new bulbs and once again the three pack is another dud. They will probably tape these up and put them back onto the rack...which explains why some of them look taped up. It's annoying to have to go back and forth to the store like this when I can order exactly what I want from Amazon. As much as I like supporting local businesses, this has happened twice over a span of 2-3 years. Not sure what the problem is, but its a shame to have to use Amazon and not be able to buy the light bulbs locally. read more

Look, with all the issues surrounding the Palisades wildfire, you know how difficult it must be to be an employee of Ace Hardware. It's a thankless job with hundreds of people coming in every day, stock is running low, tempers are on edge, etc., etc. But they do an amazing job. They have limited hardware stuff. Most of it overpriced compared to Lowe's and HD. The staff here are borderline useless, nobody is ever around when you need one. When you do find one they don't know much of anything. This place also stocks some harbor freight quality products you really have to watch out for. Just seriously low quality. I feel absolutely scammed by some of the junk this place sold me here. A bolt cutter that can barely cut a chain linked fence, and an overpriced plastic plunger that doesn't plunge. The service is awful. I was looking for a plumbing hex wrench. One employee called another to help me. The second employee responded he would be right over. 5 minutes later I was still waiting. The first guy walked me over to the second guy, who knew I was waiting. As he saw me standing there waiting, he proceeded to help two new customers who walked up to him, even after we made eye contact. Both customers were looking at light bulbs, which is apparently a complicated topic that requires a life history. After 15 minutes I left. This was incredibly rude. My review might not affect anyone because this is a special circumstance. I use the electronic cart because I have rheumatoid arthritis and I use a crutch. I needed to go upstairs. I left the cart outside the elevator. When I came back down the cart was gone. I had left my crutch at the front. So when I finally made it to the front, the cart was there and there's two or three young men just laughing. Thinking it's funny. You want to know what's funny is when I went upstairs the first time, I was told it's okay to take that electric card into the elevator. I almost got stuck because there's a pole attached to it. So having nothing to do with me actually purchasing anything, I was told one thing and it was to complete opposite, again taking the card into the elevator.
