Ok, normally I don't frequent hardware stores as I can barely turn a wrench or hammer a nail straight. However, I've been on a quest to upcycle and been working on a few home improvement projects. So rather than nag the Hubs with a "honey do" list, I took the initiative to stop in and see what my options are. The cashier was so friendly and helpful right when I walked in. I needed advice on paint and sanding and she immediately paged for assistance. The manager came by to help me and advised me on what to purchase. In addition, gave me a discount right on the spot. I used to only know about Home Depot for home repair/gardening needs until I found Ace. And not just Ace but this specific store. I have started to look at Ace first because I have found that this store (prices at each Ace store varies and this store typically has the lowest price) is my favorite for a number of reasons: great product variety, great prices, the BEST associates who work there. 100% of the time, every associate has been super helpful and very nice. it's like they like having me come to the store. They ALWAYS have the lowest price on everything ( vs the other local ACE stores so you know the owners are trying to keep prices low for their customers I am a proud rewards program participant now and love getting their rewards offers. read more

We normally have a good experience at this location, guess today's clerk could care less about customer service. We bought some loose fasteners that didn't work for our project, came back to return them and desk boy refused the return stating "no returns on hardware". We presented the receipt which only shows a restriction on mixed paint, nothing about hardware which was in new condition, never used. My husband was even open to accepting store credit but desk boy wasn't having it, simply replied "nope". Then husband says "well, guess I'm out of luck then", desk boy says "yup, sure are" and walked away. Husband was surprised at desk boys demeanor, adding "guess you lost a customer", desk boy replies "yup, guess so". Wow - Ace. Are you content with this level of customer service representing your establishment? If that is your policy to not accept hardware returns you might want that to be included on your receipts next to the mixed paint exclusion. This is a nice little hardware store not like the huge chains that have pushed most businesses out because they couldn't compete. If you need something to complete a project or just a replacement part for standard plumbing or electrical this is a Time saver. Prices are high but only compared to the big guys or Amazon. Never crowded inside but the parking lot is a mess. Spaces are too tight and people hit your car with their doors due to space restriction. I love Ace Hardware in general and this new location is no different. Other hardware stores overwhelm me when I'm usually looking for a few items or simple things. This store's layout is similar to other Ace's except the lighting seems to be brighter here, must be different types of light bulbs. This location just opened so everything is brand new! Nice new location however it has a pretty small tight parking lot that is shared with a very busy Wells Fargo. Most people going to hardware stores will bring a truck or larger vehicle for big purchases however our F250 barely fit in the lot, it was almost impossible to attempt to load any large items in the truck bed. I have also been to the Wells Fargo next door when a delivery was being made at Ace and the entire lot was occupied with the delivery truck. The good aspects of the store are the organization and the staff. Everyone is extremely friendly. Great addition to Lomita. read more

I would love to make this closest hardware store my go to. But besides being more expensive than Home Depot and Amazon, they don't have what I am looking for 70% of the time. Just went in for a 36" 1/8" round brass rod the website said they have in stock. Zero!! No metal rods of any kind. The whole display is empty. I go in for a common PVC fitting and the cubby will be labeled but out.Any spray paint colors are always gone. I swear I won't waste my time walking through there to leave empty handed again like the majority of the time. Constantly rotating staff are not knowledgeable either. This place isn't an option anymore. read more

I'm not sure how this place is rated so high but I'd have to think the reviews are coming from people who have never been in a good ace hardware store. I got used to the one in South West Torrance and this one doesn't even compare on any level. The manager, don't know his name but he's a big guy, seems to always be pissed off and yelling at the employees about something. The employees look like they were hired from the bottom of the barrel because more often than not the social skills are lacking, along with knowledge of the store and what's in it. I've been there on a few occasions where most of the time you can catch the employees on their phones when there's obviously work or customers that need to be attended to in the store.If it wasn't for the convenience of the store being close by I would never set foot in here unless I absolutely had to. read more

I was calling around looking for hardware for my front door. Home Depot didn't have any, Harbor Freight didn't have it I was on my way to Lowe's but then I stopped at the red light and noticed Ace Hardware. I called and they said that they had what I needed. Josh was the person who helped me. He was fantastic, as soon as I walked in he asked if I needed help finding anything and he was able to help me find exactly what I was looking for and I ended up leaving with more cools then what I initially went in for. I tried doing my research on where to get car key blades copied, but I couldn't get a solid answer. Once in awhile, Ace Hardware would keep popping up as a suggestion on where to get it cut. I had my doubts. I was thinking... "How well could a big name store even do compared to a local locksmith? What if they messed up my expensive key?" I wasn't going to go to Home Depot since their customer service isn't the greatest especially when it comes time finding someone to cut your keys. I didn't even know if they could cut a car key, but I heard they couldn't. But I also heard that their key cutting skills or machine wasn't the greatest. I didn't want to waste my chance, but wanted to try to venture out with a new place with low hopes. I mean like what could be worse than Home Depot? I came into Ace Hardware with low hopes, but I got what I wasn't expecting. I wish I would have got her name, but the lady with blonde hair helped me out. She was so nice about cutting my key! She was very attentive and was with me every step of the way to make sure that the key would fit into the cylinder and turn. It ended up working perfectly! I would definitely recommend this place in the future for key cutting. It also seemed like they used a manual cutter and not one of those automated laser cutter or something, if that matters. Old school charm and out of this world customer service. Went in and bought Amy Howard paint to try on my kitchen cabinets. Lucky enough to get help from the assistant manager Stephanie. I made a phone call to get more of same color but they were all out. I called neighboring Ace hardwares and they were out. I had already started my project. I couldn't go with anything else. I called Stephanie and told her I needed to finish this project in time for Suoerbowl Sunday as we were expecting guests. I am so happy this Ace Hardware opened down the street from where I work. I no longer put off getting things done because it is so easy and convenient to stop in there unlike the giant hardware stores where I dreaded going and could never find help. Every time I have been in here and that's 4 times in the last couple of weeks, they have had what I need. Not only that, but everyone that works there is super nice and very helpful. Since I live so close to a few Home Depots, it's taken me a long time to figure out that Ace Hardware is a better fit for all my needs. After Home Depot couldn't figure out how to cut keys for my car even with me supplying my own blank, I called around and landed on this Ace. They were a 30 minute drive away but Steve cut my key in 30 seconds! I walked around the store afterwards and couldn't believe how many items they had that I couldn't find at Home Depot. I'm not a contractor; I don't need 15 types of toilets. I don't need foundation anchor bolts, I need tiny replacement screws and Ace has drawers of them. read more

I understand that they might not have everything that a multimillion dollar Home Depot has, but they have people that are honest and care about their customers. A hardware store is a hardware store right!!! But this one is kind of special, the story is that this tiny ace hardware located in the perfect spot was set up by a drug rehabilitation center dedicated to helping people who had drug issues and have rehabilitated their life learn customer service skills, gain valuable experience and get a head start in life while they get a chance to work and make money to live life with dignity and self-esteem. I tried them out this morning, went to get supplies for my broken toilet, total a $5 fix. I can't remember the name but the lady who helped me was set on helping me, and she did help me find the parts but also made my day better with her awesome attitude towards life. In Lomita you have several options, HomeDepo is expensive and parking sucks and you run the risk of getting run over before you enter the store every time. Harbor freight is not bad especially for tools. But this place is worth making it your first shoot. read more
