Self-checkout was fairly straightforward and efficient, so I suppose that it made up the time that was wasted earlier on my scavenger hunt. The price that I paid wasn't too out of line, but I would have preferred to have made my purchase from a local retailer, instead. I certainly wasn't impressed seeing two piles of differently-colored automotive shatter glass in the Lowe's parking lot, either. I called customer service for all of HD on the 7th and was told that the item was IN THE STORE just not yet ready for pickup. That the latest it will be ready would be the 8th or 9th. I just called TODAY, May 10th, because there has been no update on my order. The lady who picked up was rude and then told me she's placing me on a "brief hold". I was on hold for 13 minutes before someone finally picked up and said "hi yes we have located all of your items. They are all here. None of them have been scanned in yet though" to which I inquired, what "items" since I only had ONE item. The guy on the phone couldn't answer me and there was an awkward silence and then he just says "we will send you an email when it's ready for pickup" and hung up. Worst customer service at a hardware store I've ever experienced. Time and time again. This will be my LAST attempt at ever dealing with Home Depot. I'd rather spend my money at Lowe's. I also like the fact that the vast majority of the employees who work here are helpful, and are actually knowledgeable about the products that are sold here. Prices can be a bit high, but that seems to be the overall trend these days. I'd certainly rather spend my money here, where my patronage is actually acknowledged and seems to be valued. It's also nice that Ace has a customer loyalty program. I have to say that I have gladly driven out-of-my-way, just to patronize this independently-owned business, and will continue to do so. Some items are priced comparable to other stores but most items are inexpensive than what you would find other places. I love their book selection and the price is reasonable. Lots of kid books too.
