Over the past few decades, I've probably shopped here less than a handful of times. The only reason that I force myself to visit Lowe's, or any of the other big box hardware stores, is if my locally-owned hardware store down the road doesn't have an item that I need. Unfortunately, this was the case, recently. There was zero assistance from any floor employees at Lowe's. In fact, the only two employees who I spotted were both monitoring the self-checkouts and customer service area. After hunting for several minutes, I finally found what I needed to buy. Self-checkout was fairly straightforward and efficient, so I suppose that it made up the time that was wasted earlier on my scavenger hunt. The price that I paid wasn't too out of line, but I would have preferred to have made my purchase from a local retailer, instead. I certainly wasn't impressed seeing two piles of differently-colored automotive shatter glass in the Lowe's parking lot, either. I need to replace my stove top. Called yesterday to get instalation and warranty information I ordered so I could understand the process. Eight calls at 15 min a call and never talked to the appliance department. Never was able to talk to the Customer Service Dept either. Finally got a response from the national waranty and installation dept who was able to reach them . she told me that they said they were serving other customers and would call me back. After joining the legions of retailers too pansy to actually confront suspected shoplifters, Lowe's near the Wolf River went full stupid. They locked even their inexpensive tools up behind plexiglas and padlocks. I swore that I'd never go back - but I'm a creature of habit. Today while I was near there, I decided to give them another chance and stop in to see just how inconvenient the 'new system' of buying tools there really was. I needed a screwdriver. Holy crap - I was in luck!! Not only was there an employee right by the cabinet with the screwdrivers but he was already helping some old guy get a screwdriver out of the SAME CABINET. I couldn't believe my luck. Before he closed the cabinet, I reached in to get the one I wanted. I heard him telling the other guy, "Well, I have to walk that screwdriver up front for you." I wheeled around and didn't even touch what I was about to pick up. I looked at him and said, "You're kidding - right?" He said he wasn't. I spun on my heel and said that I was done with Lowe's and their crap. Let's unpack this, shall we? Not only do they have to get an additional employee involved in selling you your crap, but after you pick it out they don't trust you to take ONE SINGLE SCREWDRIVER to the register without presumably shoving it in your underwear and walking out. Nice job at customer 'service' lazy Lowe's corporate. Next thing you know, they will expect to see your vaccination card for the disease du jour. I am DONE with Lowe's. PS. Just up the road less than 5 minutes away was Germantown Hardware. Guess what they had? Screwdrivers that you could actually TOUCH and walk to the register yourself. Please pay attention to your customers. I made several calls and couldn't get through pass the AI auto attendant. I even tried to ask for a Manager, but I was only directed to an "Associate." I held on several calls from an "Associate" but no one ever picked up the phone. This happened after I had attempted to work through the VM prompts. I wanted to know if they had any Pine Straw, but my question was always answered that they had wheat straw. This experience has made me realize why I will always shop local. At least someone will pick up the phone, and if they don't know the answer, they will find someone who can. read more

About two weeks ago we bought a new dishwasher from this Lowe's. The salesman was very helpful. The installer arrived in the time slot he said he would. The install went ok. He said the connection for the dishwasher was bad and just happened to have a new one in his tool box. He changed $25 for the part ( it's $10 or $11 at Lowe's ). Then he changed $35 labor to put it in. Well a plumber would be more than that so of course I said do it. I thought and still think it was a scam but I wanted the dishwasher hooked up. So I paid the $60. Today the kick plate came off. I emailed the salesman. He said if I needed anything to do that. He ( salesman ) got back with me. He needed a little more info. I gave it to him. Recently, we bought a rose bush from the Clearance Section at this Lowe's location. One week later, that plant showed yellowing/failing leaves and obvious disease. We returned it and it was refunded with no questions. Yes, we bought a replacement. Over the past 15 years, we have bought many plants and trees from this Lowe's location. As an overnight refugee from hurricane Ida, we were seeking a gasoline powered generator to take home to Louisiana with us. The order was hopelessly snarled online and we were in danger of getting left out, as generators were going fast. At this point, Sarah from their customer service, secured a generator for us, pulled it from stock and told us we could pick it up immediately. Upon arriving, we couldn't call in for curbside pick-up due to a problem with their phone system, but John (who was delivering curbside for someone else) saw we were having a problem, found our order, and had it out to us in five minutes. In 2016, I had Lowe's install a new roof on my house. In 2022, 2 leaks developed. I contacted Lowe's for some quick support, but soon found myself getting referred to an automated answering system with no way to communicate with a real person. Six months ago i went to the paint department to get some paint mixed. i was told i would have to return at 10am because no one was scheduled until then. This last weekend morning I went to buy lumber at 9:15. Oh, been disconnected twice when flooring salesperson who sold me the tile & carpet answered the phone & I identified myself. Oh, don't bother with the extra $$ to pay them to move furniture because they'll email you 2 days before they show up that it does NOT include moving any electronics, books, anything in/on shelves, drawers, antiques, breakables, you must strip and breakdown your own bedframes and put them back together again. She said they had consultations and that she could not do it last night although it was well before closing time. She made an appointment for me to come back today at 2pm. I showed up at about 2:08. I went in to exchange a refund for a damaged refrigerator. They sent me a loaner fridge that was damaged and I was told they would send another. They delivered another and sent my loaner fridge to the wrong location. So I had to go to both stores (Southhaven and Germantown). This store had no manager, no employee to help me get my refund back on my credit card, so they gave me a gift card. This store is not well-run at all. read more

Right hand doesn't know what left hand is doing. Received a call for my $3000.00 window install 10/15/18 10:36am Install would happen on 10/16/2018. 11-3. I agreed to short window when order placed. Friend took off work to be there. No word, store switchboard disconnects me 3x after several minutes trying to get through. Main office transferred me to manager on duty, Liz. Was told no one in store called to schedule install. Main office said windows arrived 10/12, liz said arrived 10/15. I wasn't in a hurry or urgently needed them, however not getting straight answers, being told no one called me and talked down to has my blood boiling. What they don't know is this man could buy and sell the store. Because of how he was dressed they assumed he was just a thief... I got a basket and started doing my shopping. I was in the tool department getting some craftsman tools for my tool chest that I purchased from there last night. I had almost a full basket of tools that I was pushing around. As I was pushing the heavy basket around I saw a complete tool set that was on the bottom shelf that caught my eye and I said to myself I need that too. I then stopped to look at the complete tool set and it was very heavy. I kneeled down to turn (slide) the complete tool set box around so I could see what all was in it. Then all of the sudden while I was kneeled down looking at the tool set I saw over my shoulder two Lowe's employees standing over me named Derek and Keith were watching me as if I was going to shop lift the tool set and of course other shoppers started stoping and looking as well. I then stood up and said do you think I'm going to steal this and everyone was looking at me as if I where a bastard calf in a whirl wind. It was a very surreal moment. After they look at me for like a minute or two. Derek the Lowe's employee said you have set off an alarm by moving the box. I then said to Derek I don't hear an alarm and Derek and Keith looked at me as if I were telling them a lie, and both Derek, Keith and customers where still looking at me as if I were a liar and a thief. I know I look like a bum that doesn't have gas money but I am a successful business owner of 22 years. I know deep down in my heart that Derek and Keith where judging me by my looks. But what they don't know is that I could have purchased the whole store and the reason why I didn't hear the alarm on the box is because I didn't have my hearing aids in. I can not hear high pitch noise due to working around heavy equipment and Robert Stockett my hearing doctor who got me my hearing aids can vouch for me. This has terribly upset me as I have never been so humiliated in my entire 46 years of life. Then to add insult to injury I went to get the nice gentleman named Terrance that helped me last night when I purchased the tool chest to tell him what had just happened and as Terrance and I were walking back to the tool department, the two clerks that thought I was a liar and a thief had taken my basket and moved it over by the computer/ register in the tool department as if they had just caught someone trying to shoplift. I told the nice gentleman Terrence that helped me last night the whole story and he couldn't believe it either. Neither Derek nor Keith never apologized to me. They just looked at me. And of course I said a few choice words before I left but I kept my kool, and no I didn't purchase any of the items that I had in my basket. I will never grace the doors of Lowe's as long as I live. It is a travesty that people like Derek and Keith judge a book by its cover and look down on people. I do not like and will not tolerate people who think they are better or look down on people because of their appearance, where they are from, or how they talk. Could not have asked for better service and selection. Awesome clerks went OUT of their way to make my experience great. They took their time with my question-asking, self. I needed window blinds for my home and they have the best prices, on the shelf. The other place had to custom order. But I like them too, it's just that Extra step Lowe's took to give me what I wanted. And I went to the Cordova, Germantown and Berclair locations. I do not recommend Lowes for any home improvements. About $7000 worth of appliances for the kitchen and every piece had a problem with it. But the deal breaker was when they missed the delivery date and I was not able to cook on Thanksgiving. Then it took another month to get my stuff delivered. The Kitchen oven had a bad chip in it and it's taken two months since then to get replacement for it. Now that the repaclment is in they want me to do all the work. This is a consistent problem at this store. There are often very long lines of people waiting to check out at one register. Lowes is the competing big warehouse hardware store to Home Depot. The difference is Lowes is geared more toward women, so I prefer it. How? Aisles are cleaner, presentation is more attractive (things like tiles, lights, etc), and the logo and graphic design is more tailored. Most Lowes are nice to shop; only on occasion will you find an unhelpful employee. The music at Lowes is great, too! Last time I was in this Cordova store I heard Elton John and the Indigo Girls in the same half hour. We were here price shopping for kitchen and bath hardware, and found several options in every finish and price level. read more
