I told him I was there waiting, and he seemed surprised. Had I not been on-site to check the tire myself, I likely would have just agreed to his recommendation over the phone. He then told me the tire couldn't be repaired and needed replacement, claiming it had been driven flat due to faint sidewall marks and a "burnt" smell. I explained it was never driven flat--only a few blocks while low on air--and I didn't notice any unusual smell when he tried to demonstrate. I asked them to repair it anyway, but he refused. Another employee offered to open the tire to show the damage, but after inspecting it, he couldn't find any issues--the tire was still good. They eventually repaired it as requested. It's only been a few hours, but everything seems fine so far. I didn't appreciate being pushed to replace a tire that's less than a year old, especially since I drive under 7,000 miles a year working mostly from home. Sharing photos of all four tires, including a close-up , part of the sides are hard to see. Just be careful with people trying to get you to replace something that doesn't need to be.

"Oil change within the hour, then a check-up!" Great. I went next door for breakfast. 10:30: No call, so I called. "Sorry, got busy, starting now!" No problem. 12:00: They called. I need four new tires AND all new brake pads. I asked for the estimate to think it over. 12:30: Still nothing. I called to say I'd just pick up the car. Plot twist: the oil change hadn't started yet. When I mentioned this, I got a fresh batch of excuses nobody had brought up earlier. The owner then dropped by. No apology, but he did give me a free lecture on "how the industry works" and some notes on my tone. When I said I'd skip the oil change and leave, I was told the inspection would cost extra. So I paid to unlock my own car, escape-room style. Then came the $1,500 estimate. It listed zero measurements for tire tread or brake pad thickness. The tire brand had been scribbled out. There was a "rear rotor" labor charge with no rear rotors anywhere on it. And the highway vibration I came in for wasn't mentioned at all. Getting that second opinion now. Pro tip: Bring a book. Maybe two. And maybe a friend who's a mechanic.

After doing a lot of research, I came across Vu at Chet's European & Japanese Auto Care. The reviews were outstanding, and what stood out most was how many people described him as honest. After my previous experience, honesty was exactly what I was looking for. From the start, Vu was completely different. He took the time to thoroughly diagnose my car, spending a day and a half investigating the issue. Throughout the entire process, he kept me informed and communicated every step of the way. Rather than rushing to a conclusion, he wanted to make sure he covered all the bases before saying the problem was solved.
