But hey, next week when that doubles to 80 miles, at least Lake County Indiana will know I'm not polluting their air! What a joke. What's damaged, I don't know, do I need a new bumper because something got damaged behind it, again, no clue. I came across Carrectly, was impressed by the reviews, also was impressed by the pics of Dixon P's bumper repair. So I sent an email requesting a quote for the repair. Oliver replied fast with an accurate quote and information. He also answer all questions I had. I decided to give them a try. So glad I did! How much time is wasted on dropping off your vehicle? With them none, same for pick up. Yuri was so pleasant and helpful, I inquired about getting a detail, specifically the inside. It really needed it. He gave me some info, but said I should speak to Oliver. At first I was going to go mini, but then went full. When I inquired he told me what they do for each, there was no upsell, no pressure. I will say it looks beautiful. I also had them do some touch up where the paint came off. The gave the exterior a very good wash. I'm very pleased with the whole process, and recommend them highly. I'm proud to be seen with my vehicle again, instead of walking away quickly. You know how it is when you ride looks trashed. So glad I made this choice.

When renewing a license plate sticker in Illinois, you'll first have to take your car to a Vehicle Emissions Testing site. There's 11 stations throughout the city/suburbs as well as some self-serve kiosks which I didn't know about until now. Most locations also have a counter inside to buy said sticker. This testing facility is tough to find, it's tucked away in an industrial area about 1/2 mile west of Cicero Ave. There's plenty of testing lanes to pull into, so if you encounter a wait, it should be a brief one. The guy who checked my car gave me piratey truck driver vibes (and I mean that in a good way). While the testing itself only took 3 minutes, the wait for a sticker was quintuple that--I waited nearly 10 minutes outside in a drizzle plus another 5 inside. The plate renewal fee was $151, plus a $10 service charge which I'm not a fan of. Maybe that helps pay the wages of the folks who work here? Maybe it's just Illinois being greedy. * TL;DR * 11 years - and 100K miles - later my car still passes an emissions test, thankfully. Illinois state law requires all cars & trucks to get a checkup every two years. Speaking of which, when was the last time *I* had a checkup? Between the leaking fluids and the flashing indicator lights, I really ought to have someone go under my hood and make sure things are hunky-dory. They ended up adding a $15 charge for tire rotation which put a sour taste in my mouth because it had not been mentioned earlier and made their cost less competitive. The waiting room seemed really nice online but it feels like sitting in the school admin office waiting to see the principal. It's tiny and you're practically all sitting shoulder to shoulder so don't expect to get any work done. It didn't take them too long to complete the oil change which was nice. However the real reason for the 2 star review is the inspection report. They told me nothing was wrong except for 2 tires getting close to end of their life. I thought this was odd since i could hear my break pads and was told last time that they'd need to be replaced at this oil change by another mechanic. I asked specifically about this and they said no the break pads are still fine. I was also expecting something else because my car is on it's 5th year of life and there's other stuff besides an oil change that you need to do. Nothing. I left, not realizing that the inspection link they text expires and you won't be able to access without logging in (i had asked for a printout but they said the link is fine). And now less than a month later, my car doesn't start because the battery is dead, a steering wheel sensor (RDS thing) is no longer working and the breaks are squealing when I reverse too. I requested that he remove the bolt, drain the fluid and replace it. He said it was something he could do. So I waited inside to talk to the boss who happened to be on the phone. It was pretty busy so I was told to wait about an hour. The mechanic who took the bolt out was dedicated. He did a great job. Very thorough. Good mechanic. I give him 5 stars. I was shocked at how low the bill was. I expected it to be much more.
