MOTORING ALONG The air team in Bedford Park does their best to get your car's emissions tested quickly. When renewing a license plate sticker in Illinois, you'll first have to take your car to a Vehicle Emissions Testing site. There's 11 stations throughout the city/suburbs as well as some self-serve kiosks which I didn't know about until now. Most locations also have a counter inside to buy said sticker. This testing facility is tough to find, it's tucked away in an industrial area about 1/2 mile west of Cicero Ave. There's plenty of testing lanes to pull into, so if you encounter a wait, it should be a brief one. The guy who checked my car gave me piratey truck driver vibes (and I mean that in a good way). While the testing itself only took 3 minutes, the wait for a sticker was quintuple that--I waited nearly 10 minutes outside in a drizzle plus another 5 inside. The plate renewal fee was $151, plus a $10 service charge which I'm not a fan of. Maybe that helps pay the wages of the folks who work here? Maybe it's just Illinois being greedy. * TL;DR * 11 years - and 100K miles - later my car still passes an emissions test, thankfully. Illinois state law requires all cars & trucks to get a checkup every two years. Speaking of which, when was the last time *I* had a checkup? Between the leaking fluids and the flashing indicator lights, I really ought to have someone go under my hood and make sure things are hunky-dory. Emissions testing is far from sexy, but it's gotta be done if you want to keep driving that jalopy of a car (I'm talking to you, owner of the beige '96 Mercury Sable missing its front bumper). read more

Illinois Emissions Testing - I got my emissions tested on a rainy Monday in late May around noon, only had to wait 2 minutes - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Bedford Park, Illinois

This is required for all residents of Illinois, I usually go to less busy locations in the South. Recommended to go in the AM. Majority of the locations are very fast to get tested the longest that you are away from your car is less than 5 minutes. I like that you can purchase plate stickers onsite and not another line to purchase. read more

Was treated terrible. I brought my car for testing and they couldn't test it due to having 2 plugs. They wouldn't show me what they were even talking about and when I tried to look they told me to leave. I explained I wanted to check what they were even talking about and they said get out and move to the parking lot we have other customers so move your vehicle. Now I had to wait to even pull in because another employee was having a full blown conversation with a customer but just throw me out. Not cool. I think it was because I was a white man. Still then the person that was to help me walks away and out the opposite side of the building where I wasn't parked. He then started giving me attitude and being rude. read more

They were friendly and it was fast service I recommend it because I didn't have to wait long. I was in and out quickly. read more

Go early. The wait is not as long. Each lane has 2 emission stations. However when I arrived only 1 station per lane was open. Maybe once the wait is longer other stations will open or the staff is not all working yet. Passed and all is good. read more

Best place to get your emissions test done. I've been coming here for over 7 years. I've always had professional and courteous care, even when it is cold, snowing, or raining. The best time to go is on Saturday or late afternoons to avoid standing in long lines. Plus, you can purchase your sticker on-site. read more

I was in and out in about 20 minutes. I took my emissions pass right to the office and purchased my sticker right away. The personnel were friendly and professional in their customer interactions. Line moved quickly. read more

Great easy place. Great staff and it was fast. Had my emission test done. And passed.

The people working are so friendly and it was fast and efficient. I think 20 minutes and I got the emissions test and bought a sticker. It was great. read more

Long lines. Maybe this facility needs to extend their hours for each time I had to come here. I've waited an hour to two depending on the time of the maybe they need more Southside locations because this is an industrial area and every time I come the line rocks around the building and goes for several miles down. Illinois Emissions Testing - Lines of cars - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Bedford Park, Illinois

Quick service & to the point, no bs haha. I went on a Monday morning & there was only 1 car in line besides me. You can also purchase your license sticker there if you don't wna do it online. read more

Emissions testing is just something you have to do if you have an older vehicle, and this place makes it relatively painless. It is located in a sort of bizarre neighborhood, I'm pretty sure I passed a "gentleman's club" along with many warehouses and trucking facilities on my way there. You get in line, wait your turn, and pull into the facility. They check your admission and your good to go. You can also purchase your stickers at this location, but I chose to just go home and do it online. Easy peasy. read more

Illinois Emissions Testing - Painful but necessary. - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Bedford Park, Illinois

So it was time for me to get the emissions test on our car and I went to the local Secretary of State emissions place in Markham, but it was closed for cleaning because an employee had turned up with Covid-19. My fault - as I should have called ahead. With my newfound knowledge I called in - and Addison, Skokie, and Markham were all closed for the same reason. Bedford Park was open so I drove over there. The Bedford Park location was difficult to find but a breeze to get through. They have a number of lanes and each one is a double, meaning they can take two cars at once. So I was in and out in literally 5 minutes. The employees were very nice, they followed all the Covid-19 protocols, and they get you in and out in a jiffy. This place gets 5 stars if they just have better signage to help customers find them. I like what Jesse White has done with the Secretary of State facilities, and this is another example. Try it. read more

Quick and to the point some wait time due to only 2 people working. Extra fee for license plate sticker a rip off but hey it's business and they need to get paid. My car passed emissions that I needed for plate sticker renewal. read more

It a bit hidden once you find it it's very quick! People there are very friendly and polite!

This place wast fast with the testing, the only issue is that when you want to buy a sticker the office is teeny tiny.

Quick & easy! I went to get my Vehicle Emission Test done here and was worried I was going to be there for an hour or longer... I went on a Thursday around 2/3pm and was out within 10mins. Great service as well! Friendly & helpful with any questions I had. Would recommend this place if you need any sort of work they do. Thank you Illinois Emissions Testing Center! read more

I've gone to 3 different Emission testing sites and I would definitely come back to this one. It's off the beaten path so GPS assistance was a must. Plus, it's in an industrial area so large trucks were pulling out of businesses all over the place, and those things swing out far, so be mindful! As far as the actual process, this one definitely had the shortest wait times of any of the ones I've gone to. We chose the fastest line coincidentally and were done in less than 10 minutes. It was amazing! This site also offers plate renewal stickers. That part was less fun. It is a tiny cramped office that smelled like the bathroom connected to it. We were in the way with no where to move at one point. Once the line got moving it was an easy, quick process though. read more

Have a newer car. They continuously misread cars that have been recently repaired. The line goes pretty quick.

That was the most thrilling mandatory emissions test of my life. Staff was courteous, fast, and pleasant. I don't recall waiting long or seeing queues. Protip: Go on a rainy morning. Picked up vehicle sticker too. Cash not accepted. Direction help: Heading south on Cicero to 73rd--first, over the hill, pass Wal-Mart and storage rental complex, then, turn right on 73rd (not State Road) and follow the signs through the industrial area. Those big lots by Wal-Mart and Aldi look like they lead somewhere, but they don't. 73rd is the only way in. read more

Very quick. Been here 2 times already and both times i've been in and out in 10 minutes. Very quick and easy.

Fast service on a Wednesday at 2pm. Got done in less than 10min. I took the convenience of purchasing license plate sticker there but there was a hefty service fee of $9.50! Next time, I'll just head home and order online. read more

Very organized! Personnel are very professional, pleasant, highly focused on keeping things moving. I really appreciate their attention to their tasks and their high efficiency! In addition, this location lets you renew your vehicle registration in the office. But to do so you must use a credit card - no checks, cash or debit cards. This is lovely and saves your time! read more

Do not go towards the end of the month. Especially on a Saturday. We waited a little over an hour to get our emissions test. The line stretched down the street and around the corner. There was a police car blocking the street, so everyone had to go around the long way. I called beforehand to see how long the wait was. It gave me a quote of 30 minutes. Okay, not that bad. But that quote only applied for when you actually enter the station. Not the 30+ minute wait to get into the station. Ridiculous. But as soon as we got the test started, the service was efficient, friendly and fast. Beat the rush and go during a weekday! The cops started to directing people away as it got closer to closing time. read more

Went on a rainy weekday morning. Posted wait time was less than one minute, and we were able to locate an open bay right away. All was well, except the attendant was not friendly or personable at all, seemed a bit cranky/ hostile-I felt like we were bothering her by coming for the legally required emissions test. read more

It's that time of the year again and it's for emissions. I don't know why people don't like to get an emissions test unless you got a crappy car and know you're going to fail. It takes a couple minutes out of your day but I came here late afternoon. Place is dead! I came right in, came right out in a minute flat. They let me go in this warm room while the guy that connecting the thing to my car had to suffer with my death metal music which I apologize for. Definitely recommend this place. Better than Bensenville, that's for sure. read more

I went at a lean time. That's when everyone is busy with everything else . Just breezed through in 5 minutes. The whole process resembled evacuation of a building on fire. Got in and got out within minutes. So if anyone experiences any delay don't blame it on them. It's just there were too many people. Thank you guys. read more

I was at the facility for a total of 15 minutes, for emissions test and purchase of vehicle sticker.

Getting my emissions test was fast and easy! Though, I'm not a fan of having to leave the city and driving much further to get my emissions test done. I miss the location on Webster. Just don't fall into the "fee" trap, like I did, of buying your plate sticker there and paying an additional $7.50 fee to Applus Technologies in order to do so. While you may feel it's convenient, you'll be able to do it online for cheaper - the current fee is 2.35%, which is not $7.50 and as you all know, a few dollars here and a few dollars there begins to add up. The $7.50 fee to Applus Technologies is on top of the plate sticker fees and is charged to provide you the "convenience" of doing so. Also, credit/debit only, you cannot pay in cash. This is my opinion and perspective, I don't expect everyone to agree with it. read more

During the time of day matters. I went on a Friday around 4pm and I was in and out with time to purchase my sticker for my license plate. Fantastic!!!!! read more

What five stars for this!?! Well you don't do this by choice, and the people that work here aren't the ones mandating it, so you can't blame them. Nor can you blame them for closing all the Chicago locations either, so this is going to take up a lions share of your day, you can't blame them that having to go there sucks. However, you can thank them for being friendly and efficient, you can also appreciate that they sell IL plate stickers on site. My sticker was expired by a couple of weeks, I completely forgot about it, but I had this nagging feeling I needed to something and it had to do with the car. Sure enough, when I checked the plate it was obvious. I thanked my lucky stars that so far I didn't get ticketed and rearranged my next day to get er done. My hope is that they reopen the Chicago locations, if the whole idea is clean air, making all of us drive way out defeats the purpose. read more

I really didn't read enough reviews before I came here today. I have been here in the past, so I had a general idea of what to expect.. I don't believe they offered the license renewal service the last time I came here about 4 or 5 years ago. I was planning to hit this place and then go to the DMV in nearby Bridgeview to renew my license plates. My friend noticed that I could also renew my plates, so we decided to save some time and renew the plates here. Emissions Test We seemed to just beat the crowd and the wait did not seem long - - probably because we were busy talking. The emissions test was done quickly and the guy that tested the car was pleasant. He also told us about the license renewal option next door. License Renewal The license renewal office at the end of the building is small, but it was not busy. I was going to purchase the sticker with cash and was told that they would not take cash or checks. THEN, I was told about the $7.50 fee. I kind of just wanted to get this done, so I grudgingly forked over my credit card. In retrospect, I would have preferred to pay that fee to my bank or a currency exchange. No wonder there are signs and emissions testers promoting this service so enthusiastically! How naive to think they just wanted to be helpful when the real reason is the $7.50 service charge. The guy that sold me the sticker seemed to get annoyed that I was surprised that I could not pay cash and that I did not know about the convenience fee. I will know next time and will not be taking up his time in the future because now I know the routine and it is unlikely that I will be back. Well, at least this is done for this year. We were off to lunch. read more

A little hard to find or get too, but it was quick and easy. The lady was nice. So, go celebrate at the gentlemen club you passed earlier to get here. read more

I know. I know. You're thinking who the world gives a 4 star review to an emissions place?? Well I do. And let me tell you why. I visited here to get my emissions test completed because my renewal is for May. Even though it was only mid-April, I like to get it done ahead of time. So. Off I go to the emissions place hoping that on a Wednesday morning it won't take forever. It took 12 mins. No lie. 12 mins. All lanes were open and when I pulled up, one was empty. I was there 60 seconds. Then I was told I could renew my license plate sticker on-site. What?? So I drove around the corner, stood in line and was done in less than 12 mins. I pulled up at 10:48 to start the test and I was driving off at 11am with my test completed and my new license plate sticker. 4 stars in my book for efficiency and effectiveness. read more

We went at 1:00 on a Wednesday. The tester was very pleasant and quick. There was no wait and we were done in under 10 minutes.

This place is ridiculous. The lines aren't fair....there were at least 50 cars behind me that got through before me. It's a guessing game. I waited for over 30 minutes, it was absolutely ridiculous and I will NEVER EVER go here again. Be prepared to wait and once you get in line, you're stuck. I was coming from the city so the whole thing took me probably and hour and a half. Seems odd that the point is to manage emissions and I just released more emissions on that trip than I probably have in 6 months. Super decision Illinois. read more

Coolest experience at a government agency...I was asked to get out of the car in a min was asked to get back in and drive and get a new sticker next door. The line was short, Hassan at the counter knew what he was doing, 10 mins later out of the door I was. Getting to the location is kinda of long and tricky path...I would recommend going before 5pm! read more

Hello; For what it is, it is perfect. Quiet and slow area. If you are not familiar with the area you might get lost. People who work there are professionals, wait line not bad but of course longer for Saturdays. Some people will be out there giving fliers to their shops in case (God Forbid) you need them :) read more

I have no other choice but to come here, this is the closest testing center (10.7miles) from my place. Which is not bad because I'm used to driving to this town anyway, my College is a few minutes from here. You'll be expected to wait about 10min or less before your car gets tested. Once your car is being tested there will be another yet suspenseful and agonizing wait inside a booth for about 5min. The staff is cool they'll work as fast as they can, so that you can be on the go. However there's a cretin employee that will fool into believing that your vehicle failed the test, when it actually passed (lol!) After that you're set and done. read more

Been there, liked it, it was fast (last 8 years or so after they eliinated the tail pipe and gas cap routine, prior to that, ugh - that was long). But, got to ask: y'all talking about stickers? 7.50 fee? WHAT sticker (I had no sticker for 2015 PASS and no stickers prior either)? In 2015 went to this one on Bond Street, in Linconshire (not scheduled for dismantle, but never shows up on website when searching for one near Deerfield - wierd) perhaps that is literally just a Chicago city limits thing because not required in any suburbs of Illinois I know of. I know there's a sticker you can get to extend for a week or two that cost $7. 50 but it's only for a temporary reprieve until you can get a repair. read more
