I went there twice already and my new car failed the 'test'. The second time was right after I spent $100 to repair the 'problem'. I got several versions of why the car failed the test, but none sounded plausible. It really sounded as if they had flunked the car on purpose looking for a bribe. If I could give ZERO stars I would. Unfortunately if I wasn't forced to go here for an emissions test, I would never go here. It was the most difficult place to find. I typed the address into my gps and it sent me to a gas station. I highly recommend that you enter the name of the place with location in order to find it. Once I found the place, it was pretty easy to navigate, just pull up and the employee hooks your car up to a machine and run a test... then in 1 minute they let you know if your car passed or failed. Mine passed, so I went inside and brought a plate sticker for $108.50 The employees were nice but I felt bad for those guys, they informed me that they get paid $8.50 per hour and get a $.50 raise every 6 months. It was super crowded but I was only there about 20 minutes so not a bad deal at all. The staff were short and to the point and instead of going in the waiting area, we were directed to a spot outside about 6ft from our vehicle. Things ran pretty smoothly, I would just say that I wished they had better guide lines of where to pull in because cars just kind of were all over the place until they moved closer to the front. Extremely quick and painless experience. I had no idea what to expect going to take my first emissions test, however, the technician assured me that it would be an easy going experience. For a Saturday, the wait was no longer than ten minutes. I arrived 1 hour before closing and left in 20 minutes. Since they've removed these stations from Chicago not one of them is convenient for me, or any Chicagoan for the matter. So the next best thing is to find one that is efficient. I like that this location has one way in, unlike the one in Skokie. I can see where a long line would build up when busy, but at least you won't have people cutting in from several side streets which I find aggravating. Remember no cuts! They list the location to be on 159th., however you don't see it from 159th. just east of Pulaski. I personally think since you enter the facility from Pulaski, it should have a Pulaski address. If you're coming from Chicago, once you get off of I57 you need to get into the left lane quickly. As luck would have it no one wanted to let me over, so I sneaked my way in and then managed to find a hole in the left turn lane. The guy now behind me started to have a meltdown, arms waving and horn blowing. We both made the turn at the arrow. I have to admit I had my eye on him and missed the little sign for the next quick left into the driveway to the facility which you don't see from the street. If you miss this turn, make the first right, it's a little frontage road that leads to the forest preserves and a lot that you can turn around and go back. If you're in luck you won't have some madman make the same turn with his horn blowing at you. So I57, first quick left, and another quick left just beyond the gas station. read more

Not sure what you can really say about a vehicle emissions test, but this place does one thing and does it pretty well. You are in and you are out...I spent maybe three minutes getting the test so it is really painless. I suspect you should avoid the location on weekends when everyone seems to come, but on my midweek day it was easy as pie. The location is sort of hidden off the road, but follow the signs and you'll end up right in the service lines. I saw they are starting to also do the state license updates after you have the test...I did not use that but it makes sense to take care of all your business in one place at one time. Maybe advertising this ability would generate more interest. Nice and easy...try this place when you need the test. read more

Easy to get to. SUPER quick. I was there for only about 15 minutes on a Saturday at noon. Friendly staff. For those who may be getting their emissions test for the first time, as I was, a heads up that you don't have to go inside to pay or anything. You just drive up to a station and wait your turn. Once your turn, they'll tell you to wait in this tent thing, and they handle the test. They'll print your results off and you'll be on your way! There was no fee, and I didn't have to present any sort of registration documentation for the test. If you want to get your plate sticker, you can do that in the facilities' office. They have parking right by the stations, so you can park your car and walk over. read more

Yes I waited until the last day of the month to get my car tested so I did expect lines. What I didn't expect was a 2 hour and 15 minute wait (line to enter facility started at 167th and Pulaski and continued all the way north to the facility). The service was fast and smooth. The Markham police were around to guide traffic and rerouted those who cut the line on Pulaski. To increase efficiencies, once inside the facility area, an employee guided each car to the appropriate line. The employee who ran the test was polite and fast. The test itself too 2 minutes. I was disappointed though, to see the wait time printed on my receipt said 18 minutes (which probably only counts the time you entered the facility area (driveway) plus test instead of the god awful line coming into the facility (which was actually 2 hours and 15 minutes). Because of this, the state now has alarmingly inaccurate data. That's why I submitted a rate so low. read more

Well I know that nobody likes going to these damn tests but unfortunately they are necessary if you want your vehicle to remain compliant. This site is conveniently located around the corner from the I-57 (Bishop Ford Freeway), 159th St. Exit. Bascially 159th St. and Pulaski, in Markham. I arrived around 3p.m. and the place was empty.. no lines.. no wait. I was hooked up to the machine immediately and done in a matter of minutes. This testing station in Markham is a well oiled machine! My apprehension for a looooong wait was high when I pulled around the corner to see every single station filled with about 8-10 cars. And I of course had waited to the very last week so NO turning back now! But to my pleasant surprise the wait was about 10 minutes top! The technician was quick & courteous, with the task completed in a few minutes. I went to the office and purchased my license plate sticker too......both ladies working there were friendly and efficient.....I was out of there in a few minutes too! I will be back in 2020! In N Out in 5 minutes even with a line. did the last guy just give it 3 stars just based on the fact that his truck didn't pass cause mine just did! even if it didn't so I would still give it 5 stars, not the facilities fault that your truck has a check engine light on. read more

I saw the person shove in the diagnostic dongle into my obd2 connector, knocking it out of the housing. They told me they couldn't test my vehicle because the connector was broken, and that it was a failure. I'm a professional auto tech, and looking at the connector I was able to see clearly that it was just not snapped into the housing. 2 seconds later I say, "No, it's fine. I just snapped it back in." That's when I start hearing crap from the EPA guy saying, "You can't do that! He already failed you!" I say fine, I'll just pull back around into another lane. The guy tells me ok, just pull around. I do that, and then the manager comes out yelling at me that I can't just pull around, I have to go to a repair shop. I say I'm a mechanic and nothing was broken, the inspector just knocked my connector out and I clicked it back in, and that the inspector told me to drive around. She tells me that's not their policy, "You have to come back in about 45 minutes or something..." Come back in about 45 minutes doesn't sound like an official policy to me. These people are absolute MORONS. read more

I live in Chicago but I travel all the way to this location because it's never really crowded they have at least 6-8 lanes ALL of which are ALWAYS open so you get in and out. I've gone at various times of the day and never had a problem. They are very professional and quick. I take both of my cars there each year. The Markham location Rocks!!!! read more
