And I will be driving my car there tomorrow so I can help the world do away with an obsolete motor vehicle. /Sarcasm

Ive heard great things about Slimmers but all I can say is that I left incredibly disappointed…read more I brought my car in to see about getting the AC fixed, they told me I needed a new radiator and AC unit so I listened and paid 2k to fix it. When I got it back I was super happy because it took about 3 weeks and I needed it back. But immediately after I noticed a lot of HUGE issues, car wouldn't accelerate, wouldn't turn off, wouldn't lock or go into park. I had to get it towed in, and they said they'd take a look at it. The receptionist woman was very unfriendly on the phone and in person, which was shocking because most of their other staff seem very polite. When they had it they said they'd fix it in the next week and it took them about 3 more weeks to get it back to me. Then finally I get it back for the second time, and my door dont open from the outside. I emailed them and told them about this issue and I was not rude or anything but I felt like the email I received back was very unfriendly. When I told them about this they told me not to take it to them if I cant trust them with my vehicle, which seems redundant since they are the reason I dont trust them, when I obviously trusted them enough to bring it there and to give them the opportunity to fix whatever mistake was made. I am a young woman and honestly felt a little taken advantage of and or not taken seriously whatsoever. I also received a couple voicemails saying essentially they didn't know what they were doing and they'd never worked on this type of car before (Hyundai Sonata), so Im not sure what "trust" they expect when they treat their costumers like this. They seem to lack a lot of basic costumer service skills and knowledge. They deal with a huge part of peoples lives (their vehicle) and people are bound to be frustrated when stuff is wrong with their car, so if they dont know how to deal with that they just shouldn't.

These guys have a lot of integrity which is super awesome. I am always nervous around car people…read morebut I ran my trusty test just to check and see, and they passed! I brought my car in for an oil change after my cross-country move to Lawrence a month or so ago. When I was leaving, I told them they could look it over to see if any other work needed to be done and that, if the air filter looked bad, I'd be more than willing to replace it. I mentioned that specifically because we replaced it about a month ago. They said our air filter looked brand new and that everything else was totally in order (we got the car souped up, $600 with my old mechanic, right before the trip so this doesn't surprise me at all). Test passed!! Oil change for my Chevy sonic was ~$60. They don't have an area to wait or anything which is no big deal if you can have someone take you somewhere else (like a coffee place on Mass) or walk yourself (it's less than a mile). It's not the best area to walk through because of the high traffic. I understand that because they are so small a sitting room might seem silly. They also really liked having a lot of time (like a few hours for an oil change scheduled days in advance) so you wouldn't want to sit their anyways. Their parking lot is difficult to navigate because they have so many cars just kind of there. I think I don't understand why because I'm not a car person. All I know is, I was terrified of hitting something because they are so close together. Basically, cosmetic/convenience issues but a mechanic with integrity will always get at least 4 from me because they can be so hard to come by.

I went to get my tire rod replaced in 2022 because of annoying squeak. The tire rod was replaced. Conveniently the next day after getting the car fixed the gears on my vehicle had shifted upwards which restricted me from placing my car all the way into park. Since the car was not in park all of the way it didn't allow me to take out the keys out of the ignition. I had notified an employee at Dons auto about the problem. They told me basically that they had nothing to do with the new problem and if I wanted to have it look at it they would pay for the towing but I would have to pay for the service. But if it they didn't cause it I would have to pay for the tow and for the inspection. The customer service was very rude, short with me and not understanding at all. I didn't not end up getting my car towed because I felt as though they would place the blame on me therefore more money out of my pocket. The occurrence of the issue was conveniently right after I had gone to Don's auto. This issue still brothers me, my car is still broken and that is why I decided to make this post. Also to help other young woman from being taken advantage of. I will not be going here again.
