Nice Academy a little small. Couldn't really find what I needed and what I did find was kind of expensive. It is in a nice area and has some shade in the parking lot. The only negative was they had one cashier and there was a long line. I stood there for about 10 minutes with one person in front of me and eight more behind me. There were plenty of people walking around some even came to the other cash registers, but nobody opened up another line. Kind of crazy to see that many workers all walking around slowly, at the front and not really doing anything. read more

I came to return a pair of hiking boots. I waited for an extended period of time with no assistance as the line continued to build at the registers while one clerk sorted the sunglasses and the other one stocked merchandise. When she finally decided to acknowledge me, I was told to go to the end of the line even though I had been waiting there for help before there was a line! I waited in line until my turn. The same clerk who sent me to the end of the line proceeded to badger me about the box. I did not receive a box when I bought the shoes. The shoes have not been worn and I provided a receipt. I do not appreciate being treated so rudely multiple times. If she was having a bad day-she did not need to take it out on me. I had other purchases to make and decided to take my business elsewhere. Went shopping a couple of weeks ago here and at checkout opened up an academy credit card and paid all my items with the academy card. Today I had to exchange/return and item and was going to do more shopping. Do not use online orders here - customer service for online orders is horrible. Twice now I've ordered, twice now I've been notified things are ready for pickup yet it took more than 15 min and finding a manager each time to actually get my item. Off the shelf? Fine. All of my children participate in sports which means I am always looking for good deals for equipment, wear, products with the best deals. We came here to purchase my daughter her 1000th volleyball lol but I was quite disappointed when we entered the store and the employee sitting right up front soon as you walk in was on his phone and didn't even greet us or ask if we needed help. Continued to walk into the store and seen two other associates that didn't speak either. We eventually found the volleyballs and the cashier was the only employee that was nice and asked if we found everything okay. I will check out academy in round rock next time. read more

I have been in here a few times and ordered online. I have been here when there are long lines, but they staffed worked quickly and the wait wasn't too long. I have picked up stuff curb side. I have even returned an item and it was replaced easily with a working bike. Customer service has always been great. The prices are fair. I really like Academy. Beware of purchasing a fishing license at Academy. I purchased an all-water, one day license at Academy for 11/27/2020. No one told me I needed a separate tag to catch red drum and I don't fish enough to know. I found out later that the red drum tag was an extra $3.00- which I would have gladly paid. Went fishing with a few family members at Pt. Aransas. Guess what I caught... an 18 lb. red drum! The only reason I got to keep the fish was due to the charity of another woman on the boat who gave me her red drum tag. I could expect such incompetence maybe at a big box or discount retailer. A sporting goods store like Academy should know better. When I went back to Academy to bring it to their attention all they could do was say "we're sorry ". read more

So this Father's Day ad comes in last Sunday's Austin Statesman and because I like this reel, I hustle down to our new Academy store in Georgetown, TX and learn that there are none in stock. Their clerk checks his hand-held computer and sez there are none on the way. I check on-line and find that I can only order them for pick-up at my store...but they don't have any. I call corporate to see if they offer rain-checks for later delivery and get a no, thank you. Is it a sucker ad? Why choose an item for a special sale without any in stock? Gotta be a reason. I've been here several times with no issues. Nice to have this store in town rather than driving to Cedar Park or RR.

First of all I love that the store is clean and organized I never see it a mess. The staff is friendly and alert. I was asked a few times if I needed any help which was great. Derek assembles the bikes he is awesome and very knowledgeable about the bikes. I ended up purchasing a few bikes from this location for the family. Terrible Service I first bought a bike which I was told would be assembled for us. We get there to pick it up and they said they had no one there to assemble it and that it would take a week to get done. I was already there and frustrated so we decided to just take it home and assemble ourselves. Long story short there were many defects so I called to see when a "Assembler" would be there the Manager told me "Ummm 8 to 5 in a rude way) so the next day I showed up within the time frame. (About 2ish) Hispanic Manager Lady didn't want to help much and informed me that the "Assembler" left for the day and I would need to come back. So I replied to her "Why can't I just leave it here?" (Why would I need to haul it back and forth if I came at the time I was supposed to?) so finally after much debate she finally worked with me and got my info and took the bike. THAT WAS ON A MONDAY and it's now SATURDAY!!!! No CALLS or anything, and Ive been currently trying to call the store now for an HOUR!!! No one seems to care to answer. This is just sad and customer service is non-existent. Be careful Academy sooner or later you'll become old news and your competitors will benefit from your incompetence. This store is only about a mile from my house and has been opened only a couple of months. I stopped by today to check it out. The place was well-stocked, neat and well-staffed. Good first impression. As I wandered around the store I encountered at least 10 employees, and not one of them greeted me or asked me if I needed assistance. Not one. I browsed the hunting department and had to ask an employee to move aside so I could get something from a shelf. No offer of help. One employee approached another at a register in the firearms department and loudly announced "I hear you're quitting." The reply: "I might if they don't stop screwing with my schedule." I will never step foot in the store again. I have been here twice in the past week and every time there is an issue with the customer service. I needed to return a pair of mud boots that started falling apart after less than a month of use, and the team lead would not allow the return. Even with them being Magellan brand. The second time I went into the store I called ahead about a 308 caliber boresight, was told that there were seven or eight in stock, and let them know I would be there in 10 minutes to pick one up. When I arrived at the store, the only boresight option they had was a 6.5 Creedmoor, and with outside research that is not OK to use. The salesman behind the counter was insisting that I purchase that one even after showing him various articles that show in compatibility. And none of the men behind the counter claimed to answer my call. When I got up to the counter to check out, the lady started laughing at the issues that I was having, and instead of being respectful, or even helpful her goal was to get me out of the store as quick as possible. read more

selected some items for purchase and when I got to checkout the price was considerably more. I walked an associate over to show them how the item was priced in the shelf. he said that the item was missed priced and it was an honest mistake. i pointed out that there are 6 price tags on the shelf and asked are they all wrong. He said someone didn't do a good job and that he was sorry for the inconvenience. I asked to speak to manager and the manager refused to come out. I heard him tell the associate to just say he's sorry but he he can't do anything and there's no need for him to come out and tell me. I spoke to another manager and she told me that I should be comparing the skus listed on the price to the item. she also suggested that I use the scanners located around the store to verify pricing before heading to the register. I responded by asking if I need to do this all the time? she said it would be the best way to make sure I'm not inconvenienced at the register. Isn't that also an inconvenience? no reply. so my assumption is too assume that you have a store filled with untrained and incompetent employees and that I need to pick up the slack because the Academy management didn't seem to care. she offered to give me a small percentage off, but that's all she was going to do. I have shopped at the store 5 times since the opening. On my last visit I was talked into applying for a credit card. After some pressure, I did not need another card, I agreed. My total purchase was $16.24. I am retired and left town for a month long trip. When I returned I had a bill from Academy for the $16.24 due on that day. I mailed a check the same day for the $16.24. Today I received another bill showing they received the check on the 6th 4 days late with a $18.24 late fee. The original bill was only $16.24. I talked to their credit department but was told there was nothing they could do. Well there are three things I can do. 1. Had them cancel my account 2. Will never shop at Academy again 3. No care or concern over defective products. 68 days after purchasing wolverine work boots, they were collapsing on the insides. they won't let me exchange because I brought them back outside 60 days and they are no longer in a condition to sell. The staff here is very friendly in this newly configured layout. The firearm selection is second to none within the area with exceptional knowledge from the staff. The checkout Process is different than most stores but went very smooth once I got in line. The cashiers are some of the best I have come across in retail, they are really on point. There are many Veterans on staff here which are identified by a red lanyard which is grEta to see in this community.
