I barely moved to Chico and was looking for a good Mexican place to eat out at, and found Aca Tacos and decided to try it out. I went out with friends and we ordered a burrito, tacos, churros, and nachos. The prices were great for their size portions, and we loved how many vegetarian options were available without the expense. The customer service was also good. The only downside was that only accepted cash but an atm is available inside & a chase bank is right down the street so it did not affect our score. read more

Visited this place based on some friends suggestion. I was disappointed as soon as I placed my order and was told Cash only. I had to use a shady looking ATM that was tied to their cash register anyway, which charged $1.50 then incurred another $3.00 charge from my bank. So it effectively cost me 20% because they won't take cards. The food was so so, acceptable but not great. Meat was flavorful but very inconsistent filling on the burritos we ordered. Also the place could use a facelift. Funny they will put up digital menus but too cheap to accept cards. Ultimately not accepting cards will keep me from going back. Getting tired of this practice at several Chico restaurants. read more

Great little taco place, with both tacos and burritos, that is definitely worth a try. Usually have asada burritos, and they have always hit the mark. However, a word to the owners......this is 2018, and to have an establishment that ONLY TAKES CASH is kinda inconvenient and very antiquated, so maybe invest the money you make from a $9 burrito into ATM/Credit capability which I'm sure will increase your traffic. Since Grub hub didn't deliver my order and NEITHER business would accept responsibility for it I was billed ($28.) for NOTHING. What can I say, I just like this place. It has survived in downtown Chico for what, 20+ years now? They are doing something right. Don't like the ATM thing? This place is always very clean and polished and generally very pleasant. Every time I go I order the mini tacos, or whatever they're called, and they're great--he meat is always extremely flavorful and generally delightful. Sometimes I rollerskate there. They're one of the few places in Chico that let me enter the building with my skates on. One time I went with my Hispanic friend, and the vendor tried to ask him what he wanted in Spanish, only to be embarrassed to find out that he only speaks English. It seemed like that lady didn't speak English very well. She was very gracious. Aca Taco is probably one of the best places to eat Mexican food in Chico, I'd recommend it. read more

A Chico institution for as long back as I can recall, for it was such when I grew up here in the 1980s and 1990s. I stopped in on a Wednesday during the second week of Fall semester - it was moderately busy. I ordered 4 tacos - I was hungry, but the tacos are bigger than I expected, and larger than what are typical of local taco trucks around town. All things are relative, and moving back to Chico after half a decade in Boston, Massachusetts, an otherwise gastronomically diverse city sadly lacking in readily accessible Mexican food, even the moderately authentic Aca taco is a dream. By Chico standards, however, I think it's fairly average - or moderately better than average - a bread-and-butter taco place. I ordered four bread-and-butter combos too: carne asada, pork al pastor, pork colorado, and pork chile verde, all with hot salsa added. Several technical aspects were well done: the slow cooked pork chunks had just the slightest crisped edges from the charcoaled patina of the grill, finely minced white onion, and minced cilantro on all four. The pastor was the best, I thought, and the others, while tasty, had overly large and somewhat dry chunks of lean pork, shredded and slightly dry beef for the carne asada. The place has got to be a hit after a night of boozing, and the tacos are really cheap -- each was less than $3. Next time I'll try their famous burritos. While you certainly could do worse, Chico is blessed with several taco trucks and taquerias that do a lot better; but the location, service, and price really cannot be beat, which is why it remains a Chico staple. read more

listen: this place is reliable, you know what you are going to get. a pretty great burrito which is available late on weekends (3:00 AM) so there really isn't much to complain about. I go for the carne asada with sour cream and extra onions, and it rules everytime. it is much better than any corporate burrito place. forget about tacobell and chipotle. please you people have to be out of your mind to take either of those places over a local gem like aca taco. the only acceptable alternative should be one of the many amazing and affordable taco trucks which can be found throughout chico. read more

The first time i tried it, I wasn't too impressed, and didn't care to try it again. But after a while, a friend of mine was already going there and asked if I wanted to come along, so I bit the bullet and joined, and it was like a whole different restaurant! I've gone there a million times since, and every time has been delicious! Inexpensive and huge portions. I just got the Nachos Aca Taco today and they were so good! No idea why it took me so long to eat here since I work downtown. Had enchiladas there last winter and now we are hooked. We both got the enchilada plate with one puerco chile verde, one cheese, and one chicken. Pork is succulent and tender, cheese tasty, melty and piping hot, chicken is flavorful. Huge serving, good price. Also, we drove to the park with it and they pack it so well that it was all still perfectly contained, and again, actually HOT. Also love the puerco chile verde burritos. I've eaten here two times and I have to say I do like the place. First time I went I got a vegetarian burrito, which was great! It was just really nice to sit in there, it wasn't busy so it was really relaxing, and get out of the summer heat. My friend got a carne asada burrito, which looked like mostly carne, so if you're a meat fan you're getting your moneys worth. I went back again and got a chicken burrito, I was starving so I scarfed the whole thing, I'm just more of a fan of pulled juicy style chicken, and they do there's grilled, and it had a kinda sourish tomato taste to it. I don't think I'll order that again but they also have one with green sauce so I'd be down to try that. I wouldn't say this is the very best in Chico, but this place has good food and good ingredients, I'll definitely be coming back. read more

I went into Aca Taco for the first time in years to see if it had changed and it did not dissappoint. They still don't take ATM cards for payment. They do offer a "ATM machine" that will gig you for a couple bucks. Had a carne asada burrito with sour cream and cheese. Hot salsa is not hot and the carne asada has all the flavor of boild flank steak with a dash of salt. I just can't support an establishment that will not support their customers by accepting ATM or Credit. It feels like a giant screw you when they point you to a ATM with huge fee's. On top of that it was way to expensive for what you get. Just shy of $10 for a burruto and coke. I think I'll go back to reading the Butte County health inspector reports. Yikes! read more

Really good!!! Except they dont accept debit cards, I was overcharged due to their debit card machine within the store...charged $1.75 by the machine and another $1.25 for the use of their machine by the person at the register. Awesome burritos and nachos, carne asada and the elpastore just go off in your mouth, like bam! We go downtown frequently in the summer time for the farmer's market and to go to LaSalle's on Thursday night. A lot of time we end up at Aca Taco on Broadway or the one on West Sacramento. The regular burrito is good for two people(or lunch the next day if you cut it in half. The large burrito costs a buck more but its really not much bigger. The one on Broadway used to serve Sierra Nevada on tap, now its serves no ales or beers. read more

I will start by saying I love Aca Taco and think they have great food. However, this location has disappointed me too many times. They make my order wrong every time I go to this location and only come back because I love their burritos and is the closest to where I work. Recently, they upset me too much that Im here writing this yelp review, which is something i never consider doing. My boyfriend called in my order and the lady belittled him for asking her how long it would take. She told him that she's never heard that question and made him feel stupid for even asking. Then, when i pickup my order AGAIN, NO. SOUR. CREAM. And this time NO LETTUCE TOO. I called back explaining the situation. She cut me off saying "oh..the order for [insert name]?... yeah there were no instructions for those ingredients." This was wrong considering I was in the room while it was being made. When I told her that, she changed the reason saying she misheard. I am still waiting on her putting in a new burrito for me. I finally order it and told her my bf is picking it up because I had to go to work. Then she told me the sour cream would be en extra charge. She wanted ME to PAY 50 CENTS extra for THEIR mess up? UM HELL NO. She finally changed her mind about that idea. This whole conversation and situation is not even that bad, however, the way the lady talked to me in such a degrading tone with so much attitude really made me upset. Like damn. i just wanted my burrito fixed so I could eat a bomb ass burrito before my long ass shift. You don't gotta be so damn rude. Like shit, im a loyal customer and i recommend your food to others. OH almost forgot. She wanted me to bring the mess up burrito back to the store "As soon as possible". The burrito with bites taken out. Like why did they want it? to throw away? luckily i did not waste it and gave it to a hungry coworker.
