I, of LA and SF, thought it had good salsa, fantastic chips, ok burrito. The chips were amazing - hot out of the frier, crisp but not greasy or burned, with a dusting of salt and, I think, paprika. Went in for an al pastor burrito for lunch while home for the holidays because this was my favorite place to get Mexican food in chico for 12+ years. By far and away, it was the worst burrito I've ever eaten. I couldn't even finish it. It was disgusting. It had about an ounce of meat in it and the rest was just horribly bland beans and dry rice. I have yet to find a better burrito than what Aca Taco provides. Now 100% my opinion but the quality of food is always fresh and their mild salsa is my favorite. I live in Sacramento now and I relish the moments I get to come back to Chico because I know I get to eat here. Was my favorite place to eat when I went to Chico State and honestly is still hands down my favorite burrito. I used to like Aca Taco, it is so close to campus I would go there for lunch almost every week... until one dreaded evening as I grabbed a burrito between classes, scarfed it down and an hour later started puking, for days... That one seemingly delicious burrito, with chicken, rice, beans, cheese and sour cream, all felt so good going down, but coming up and back up and back up again, any warm fuzzy feelings I once had for Aca Taco went down the toilet. This place does not keep their food properly kept, whether chilled or heated... at all. Everything is luke-warm and ill prepared. I suffered with food poisoning from their sad little "chico" burrito for days and ended up in the hospital from dehydration. I'm frankly surprised at the high ratings for Aca Taco! And also surprised that it has been around for 20 years (?). Granted, I've only been one time but I wasn't impressed. I had the chicken quesadilla and it was salty and blah overall. The guacamole was all right, though. There isn't a chips and salsa bar. You actually have to buy chips, if you want them. If I remember correctly, you only get one small ramekin of salsa and if you want more, you also have to pay extra for it. I imagine, because the place is so close to campus, they feel they need to charge so that students don't just buy a drink and load up on free chips and salsa? I've tried a number of different Mexican places in the area and none have come as close and as delicious as Aca Taco. I like to go here between classes since its so close to the CSU campus, and their other location is just down the street from my apartment. Sadly, I tried this place because it was recommended on Wikitravel. Wiki said it was local favorite, but there was almost no one there at 6:30 on a Friday night. I asked what some of their favorites were and was told they're known for their burritos - namely the chicken burrito (which I ordered). It was mostly refried beans and rice with sparse chicken. Aca Taco is by far my favorite place to eat in the world. The store on Nord Ave is the better of the two. I lived on Aca Taco as a college student and when I go back to Chico to visit I get 6-8 made to bring home and store in my freezer. Seriously, it is that good. I thought I was in Central America for some reason, except there were no lines to get your cash. I was disappointed they did not seem to have any lettuce on things? I went out with friends and we ordered a burrito, tacos, churros, and nachos. The prices were great for their size portions, and we loved how many vegetarian options were available without the expense. The customer service was also good. The only downside was that only accepted cash but an atm is available inside & a chase bank is right down the street so it did not affect our score. read more

Visited this place based on some friends suggestion. I was disappointed as soon as I placed my order and was told Cash only. I had to use a shady looking ATM that was tied to their cash register anyway, which charged $1.50 then incurred another $3.00 charge from my bank. So it effectively cost me 20% because they won't take cards. The food was so so, acceptable but not great. Meat was flavorful but very inconsistent filling on the burritos we ordered. Also the place could use a facelift. Funny they will put up digital menus but too cheap to accept cards. Ultimately not accepting cards will keep me from going back. Sadly the goodness was not to last and in just few more bites of the chicken burrito I started feeling sick and disgusting.
