The only reason I gave them five stars is because I could not give them six! I apologize for the really long review, but I am that impressed with my experience with this company! For the last few months of last summer, my AC was not working as well as it had in the past. A few days ago, when I turned it on for the first time this spring, it was not cooling at all. Based on what I know about AC, and from research on the internet, I was pretty sure my system had developed a leak and all of the Freon had leaked out. I did some research, looking for a company to call, and narrowed it down to AC Cool and one other company. The other company had a lot more Yelp reviews, but had only been in business a few years. AC Cool has been in business since 1991, and is a dealer for the brand of AC unit I have, so I gave them a call. When I spoke to Paul on the phone, he was very easy to deal with. It was around mid day, and he told me they were booked up and could not come out that day, but could come out first thing in the morning. The next morning, Jeff, the technician, arrived on time, and was very nice. He was very knowledgeable, and was also patient with me and my questions. He listened very attentively while I explained to him the problem, what I thought was the reason for it, and also while I gave him a "brief" history of my AC unit, and the work I had done on it in the past. Jeff was also very patient with all of my questions while he was working and explained exactly what he was doing and why. Jeff then got his equipment, and quickly determined that my system had indeed lost all of its Freon. He told me that it is often very hard to find out exactly where an AC system is leaking Freon. He said that AC systems normally do not just develop a leak, and that sometimes Freon will just leak out over a period of many years. He also explained to me what the options were to deal with my problem. A new system was out of the question, even though my system is about 22 years old. Jeff said that many times the obvious choice is to just recharge the system with new Freon, and see if it fixes the problem. Jeff explained that this can be expensive, if there is a real leak. He also mentioned that some techs will sometimes inject a purple dye when recharging a system that might have a leak. The dye would sometimes show where the leak is. The main problem with these two options is that Freon is not cheap, and if there really is a leak, you may wind up having to recharge the system twice. Jeff then explained to me that what he liked to do was to use nitrogen to try and see if there is a leak in the system, since nitrogen is much cheaper than Freon. He explained that there was no guarantee that he could find a leak using nitrogen, but it was the best bet. I decided to take his advice and he charged my AC unit with nitrogen until the pressure of the nitrogen was at 300 PSI. Jeff said that if there was a leak it would definitely show up on his pressure gauges. He was immediately able to tell that there was a significant leak. Jeff listened all around my condenser and the lines going from it into the house, and did not find a leak. We then went into the house, and he listened in the AC/heater closet. At first, he could not hear anything, but then he heard the sound of a leak. It only took him a minute to determine the leak was not in the house. This left only the AC lines that traveled over the roof from the compressor on the ground to where they went into the house. Jeff climbed on the roof, and found the leak in a minute or so. The return line had rubbed on the roof where the lines traveled up through the eave and onto the top of the roof. The leaks, there were two of them, were where the line passed through the hole in the roof. Jeff then got his torch and had the leaks fixed in about two minutes. He then blew out all of the nitrogen, and recharged my system with new Freon. Testing the system showed that it was now working better than ever, and that it was no longer leaking. The bill for all of this was very reasonable! It was only $374. The service I received from AC Cool was excellent! It was not only quick, efficient and very reasonable, but I can already tell that my AC bill will be a lot less this summer than it was last year! Any time I need any work done on m AC/heating unit, that I cannot do myself, I will be calling Paul at AC Cool and asking him to send Jeff back to see me! read more

A.C. Cool was amazing to work with!! Of course our air conditioning broke down right at the beginning of the last heat/humidity wave. We had used A.C. Cool before on two of our rental units and we had been happy with their work so of course we called them first. Not only did they come out right away to assess what was going on, they brought a portable air conditioning unit for us to use which I thought was a very nice gesture. We were told that our unit was dead and John one of the owners came out and spent a great deal of time going over our different options and answered our many questions. In all honesty we were shocked at the cost of what they recommended was the best option for us based on our house design. Our house was originally zones and with that design having one air condition unit like we had was not only very inefficient (and the primary reason for our HUGE electric bills for which we just got solar for) but it was the cause for the premature failure of the unit. To do it right they suggested the Infinity model which is a variable unit that can easily handle zoning and is an extremely efficient machine. Needless to say with such a big purchase (@15k) we felt we should do a little more homework despite enduring the unbearable heat and discomfort. We soon saw that not only was the recommendation the best one but that they were giving us a great price. This companies technician was extremely negligent and unprofessional, his name was Jeff I believe. After I reported him to management at AC cool they sent him out to my property again to make the corrections he failed on the first time. When he arrived he began lecturing me on how I shouldn't expect good service or work from a company if I call his home office and complain bout him. He threatened me and created a hostile environment in my house before leaving. He never came out to do the repairs he came out to record his attack on me for reporting him. My property manager said he would never be allowed back on the property. This company should be ashamed of themselves. The police should have been called for what this jerk did in my house. This company treats renters like they are less than. I have filed complaints with the California State Contractors Licensing Board and other agencies for their dereliction, unprofessionalism and outright criminal behavior in my house. After reading a few of the reviews here it seems Jeff's name is mentioned in a negative way more than once. Paul the owner did nothing to help. He was worried about losing a big account with the property management company not any concern for a customer. You should be ashamed Paul! read more

On August 18, 2020, AC Cool installed a new Carrier HVAC unit at our home, replacing a 40 Year Old Carrier HVAC unit. On September 11, 2023, I phoned AC Cool at 3:01 PM to report an issue ... the unit was not delivering refrigerated air into our home. The unit is in Year Three of a Five Year Warranty. Kate Newman (Operations Manager) replied to my call at 4:20 PM. She offered me an appointment for the very next morning at 11:00 AM. The Technician, Carlos Alvarez, arrived in our neighborhood ahead of the scheduled time ... and he waited for me to arrive at 10:55. Carlos quickly diagnosed the issue (a faulty Capacitor) and immediately replaced it. He also checked other attributes of the system and successfully tested the system for approximately 10 minutes. We have been doing business with AC Cool for approximately 23 years. In every instance, they have demonstrated a superior level of professionalism. It was an absolute pleasure working with the amazing crew from AC Cool. Our experience began with John Moses doing a thorough evaluation of our home's current air conditioning and heating unit. We just used this company this week to install new furnace and air conditioning unit and what a great joy to work with people like this. Great product and pricing and the crew of between 3 and 7 guys worked like a well made watch. Everyone knew their job and worked hard at it the entire time with no glitches or "oops we must have left that at the shop". Couldn't recommend this company any more highly and will refer them to everyone we know that needs them. We had everything explained to us in language we could understand and before they left, we knew how to operate everything in energy saving manner. How refreshing to work with such professionals !! We recently had a total breakdown of our cooling system and selected A.C. Cool to do the job after we compared pricing and quality of the bids made; meaning John measured our front doorway and we had to actually remove a fence area to gain access to the back yard to get the Unit into the backyard area. None of the other companies even looked at this as a consideration. We are very happy with the installation process, the care taken by the team in our home and the team work between the installers. We had new air ducts installed as well and two new vents/registers. Everyone knew what to do and they were very considerate of us in the process. I was so pleasantly surprised with her kindness & friendliness, as well as her thorough knowledge of air conditioning- really helpful. Then, when the service tech Jess came out, I was even more impressed. Really professional, on time to the minute, thorough, unhurried, a fount of information, friendly, and he took the time to answer all my questions and diagnose and fix both my wine cellar cooler issue and air conditioning problems. Late October 2019, I finally came upon AC Cool that was an honest, well run company (Kate was very helpful over the phone!) that had knowledgeable and experienced technicians capable of making the proper adjustments to my A/C and furnace system (Bryant brand). Jeff came out and adjusted the air flow and gas flow to suit my home versus the canned preset values from the factory. He was great, and addressed all my questions and concerns. Their price was very reasonable, as well. It's been 4 months now, so the system has been in use for both cooling and heating my home. It has been fantastic!! I was refered to Paul from AC Cool from several other very satisfied customers/friends. I have to agree with them that Paul runs a great business! I guess that's why he has been in business for 21 years. He would call each time just to let you know he was going to be on time, or even 5 minutes late due to traffic.
