I'm torn between a 4 and 5 star here. I'll do my best to explain. My wife decided to come here based on the recommendation of a longtime friend of ours. - 4 Stars - The appointment for hair treatment was made for my wife. She did it online through their website. The appointment needed to be approved before you were confirmed for the appointment. The appointment was eventually confirmed. Oddly, my wife booked it for the 25th of Dec, but it was ultimately approved. When the day came for the appointment, we drove out (25 mins) to the salon and get there about 15 mins early. When it hit 10 am, we noticed no one arrived to open the salon. So she gave it 5 mins and made a call to the number provided in the email. To much the surprise of the person on the other line, she did not realize she had an appointment. But (much to even much surprise) she said she lived about 20 minutes away and was on her way. So we decided to wait it out. - 5 Stars - First, the fact that this individual came in (regardless of the mixup) was enough to earn 5 stars. She definitely is a specialist in hair health and took care of my wife. I went to grab a bite to eat but (after taking a look at my wife's scalp) told her she was going to need about an hour and a half to get her back on point. And that she did. It was a long appointment and my wife (and I) were more than impressed by the results. My wife also spoke to me about their time talking to each other. It must have been a good discussion because my wife was vibrant and full of life afterward telling me about all the stuff they talked about. All in all, how can you complain about an appointment mixup when someone is willing to come in and open up just for you, on Christmas no less? Just an impressive display of commitment to the customer by the owner Miny. Note (to other customers): looking at the reviews, it doesn't seem like this place is a salon for hairstyling as much as they are experts in hair care. I stumbled upon Miny's shop while I was absolutely struggling after a stylist I thought I had a good relationship with stood me up, again. I sat in her chair and just prayed for the best. But she talked with me, addressed my hair concerns, and leaves me feeling beautiful whenever I leave. I usually just get a wash and press, and I only come once a month or so, but I appreciate Miny's honesty and how she takes cares of my hair and makes it look great when it's done. I had the absolute pleasure of coming to the Kent location for my first time. I haven't had my haircut in years due to being almost beaten to death, having cancer and becoming so ill that I couldn't function, I'm sorry and lost all my teeth from the illnesses and assault so I finally gathered the courage to get my haircut since I got all new teeth. And the very first thing I got was Adora introducing herself to me and making me feel so comfortable and welcomed, she even made me a cup of tea :) Then it came to meeting my hair stylist- Miny. And I would never recommend anybody else besides her. Not only did she do such a wonderful job with my hair but she made me feel like family. I can honestly say that I went there for a haircut and left with the most amazing and uplifting experience. I will recommend these ladies any day any time and I hope to see you all in the near future!! Miny was amazing! Very personable and made me feel welcomed. My phone wasn't working when she called me back so she text and I was able to get right in. I loved that I was able to find an amazing hair stylist that is so knowledgeable and that was open on a Sunday! I get small bald patches occasionally and she looked at my hair follicles with this cool magnifying camera so I was able to see up close what is going on back there. I can't explain how much I loved my experience here. Miny was friendly, easy to talk to, very smart, I could go on. She made me feel very comfortable with my first time at a salon! I got a Brazilian blowout and the result is amazing. My hair is so soft and straight. It looks and feels really healthy! Never going back! As a first time customer I'm appalled at the lack of pride my stylist took into her work/my haircut. After having my hair cut here, I went home and saw that one side was significantly longer than the other on both sides/layers. My stylist didn't check that both sides/layers were even before tossing tons of product in my straight hair. I was polite in my voicemail asking to return for a touch up from the mistakes. She confirmed it was okay over the phone. The next day I'm showing her how uneven it is, where it needs to be touched up, etc. While fixing my hair she says "It doesn't need to be perfect." Excuse me?! You're the manager here..... You're shaping people's mood, face, confidence and you don't care if it's just good enough. The lack of pride she took in her work was appalling. I don't believe in putting lots of product in someone's hair to make it look good. It all starts with a good cut. I won't be returning or recommending this business at all! read more

All the great reviews made me really excited to finally find a place that can cut my curly (3b) hair and for a reasonable price! But I am SO disappointed and my hair isn't really fixable since it is so short now. Here is what happened. I went into the salon and Miny was working on another client and her assistant took me in and washed my hair. The assistant was sweet and did a good job just washing my hair then I sat down and the other client was under the hood thing drying. All is well so far and I'm excited! Miny asks me a couple questions about what I want I told her I'd like to frame my face a little and wanted layers she said great. She cuts my hair and about half way through the other client I guess was done drying so she has her assistant help her and Miny literally speed cuts the rest of my hair, hands me a mirror and tells me to check it out and helps the other client. I realized she cut my hair in a V shape in the back and I didn't like it. I told her I would rather have it straight across and she told me to play around with it and style it and if I didn't like it I could come back and cut it again for free. This is all while she is working on the other client. She handed me a couple different products and I STYLED MY OWN HAIR. She had her assistant give me a diffuser and I DIFFUSED MY OWN HAIR. If my haircut was good I literally would not care about my experience I'm pretty easy going and don't need anything special I just wanted a cut! But I was so confused and didn't leave because I thought maybe she was going to do something else? Nope. So I left after finishing my own hair and I fully planned on coming in asap for her to fix it. (I don't have pictures of the first cut but it was pretty much the same thing but a little longer). I was giving her the benefit of the doubt that maybe she she booked the times off or something and just needed me to come at a different time. Fine. I go back in (after two days of I called her, she told me she'd call me back, didn't, I made an online appointment then she called me the next day) she has a young girl she is working on but has her assistant just brushing out her hair to get ready so she comes over to help me. I sit down and explain to her that I want my hair straight across the back and more layers. She started brushing out my hair dry which was weird because she washed it first the last time (even though she should have cut my hair mostly dry to begin with since that's how you cut curls). She pinned up the top half of my hair and cut it straight and showed me and I said great! She continued to layer my hair and when she was done I couldn't really tell what it was like because it was cut dry so it was just huge brushed out curls and once again she didn't finish my hair.. I could tell it was a little shorter than I'd love but I was fine with that...I assumed it was still straight across in the back but it wasn't until I got home and wet my hair down that I realized it was the same exact problem but this time it was much worse because she tried to give me lots of layers like I asked but instead I ended up for lots of short hair in the front and one little long section in the back. Literally a mullet. Check out the pictures. One picture shows the full V shape but I had my friend cut the very tip of the V off for me with my kitchen scissors so the rest are after that...And as you can see one side is longer than the other in the front. I went to this salon because of all the good reviews. My hair is completely ruined. It isn't what I wanted. I showed them a picture of the cut and color I wanted and was very specific on how I wanted it and they took way to much off. My hair is so short. I wanted an even cut shoulder length and I can't even put my hair behind my ears. They also gave me uneven choppy bangs which I specifically did not want and my hair is 3 different lengths. So uneven, and I don't want to cut it any shorter or get it fixed because it's way too short already. They also charged me 100 more than the consultation price I'm not sure why, and you can't even tell that my hair has been dyed. I couldn't tell right away how uneven my hair was because they started curling my hair right away so I didn't notice until I washed my hair a couple of days later. On the right is the picture of the color that I wanted. I had long hair and didn't want that much cut off and on the left is my uneven hair that isn't even red. If I could give negative stars, I would. I showed Miny a picture of what I wanted, a haircut that accentuated my waist-long hair that I spent years growing, and when I left my hair was a little past shoulder length with horrible layers. She cut off a solid 6+ inches, and used the razor to give my hair layers which caused my natural curls to form in less quality than they used to. I don't think the term "livid" is appropriate enough for how mad I was. I told her to keep it long, and me not being a hairstylist, I expected her to meet my expectations. I was new to her business and chose it because of the 4+ stars she had and "great" reviews but now will NEVER return nor recommend. I told my friend not to go to Abyssinia, but she had already made an appointment so she went anyways. Her hair was messed up bad as well and had to get an appointment with another stylist across town to get it fixed. That stylist even told my friend how bad of a job the former haircut had been. My saying that going to this place is a really bad idea is an understatement. If you actually care about your hair, do your do diligence in researching a place before going, make sure that you and the stylist know EXACTLY what you want, and are on the page. The extra work will be worth it. Never, ever, settle for this place! read more

The staff was nice, but lacked listening to what the client wanted. I asked for blonde highlights and my end result was bright orange hair. She told me that she put less product in my hair due to my hair being damaged. I was beyond upset because they never once informed me that they were not comfortable doing what I wanted. I will never go back there. It seemed to me they care more about fixing damaged hair than doing anything else. Miny had a great idea what to do with my hair, and I looked awesome coming out of the salon. She was very careful to explain exactly what she was proposing and how it would work. Used a mirror more than once, and the style was exactly as she explained. I do lots of sports that require a helmet, so keeping my hair looking good day to day is a big challenge. Miny also showed me how this style can be quickly and easily handled in the morning before work (moose and scrunch basically). I will raise to 5 stars if it really works out that easy. Also, I was fitted in on a Sunday, Father's Day no less, when someone else was a no-show. My hair was way overdue for a fix, and it was nice to find a place open that would work with me on the time. read more

This is a premium salon serving all cultures. My hair was dry and over processed for years. Three years ago I discovered this salon and my over 50 year old hair is healthy, thick and shiny. came in for a mens haircut...was met by Miny and her friendly staff, was offered a beverage to calm me down, into the chair ASAP. Given razor cut around my back of head and around the ears. Was done completely by 5 minutes. Very very clean salon, very upscale look, lots of top of the line products, nice Christian music in the background. I was a walk-in, no delays. I'll be coming back and recommending to all my family, friends, clients that This is the Best Top Beauty and Hair Salon in Renton and the Eastside, Bar None. Come see for yourself. This place screwed my 5 year old little girls first haircut! She cut her bangs way to short and didnt inform me that my girl had a cow lick and she couldn't have bangs! Stay away. Just stay away! I don't think that these "stylists" have been properly trained. One of the stylists messed my hair up so bad and the Mgr told me my hair didn't need to be even... I just needed to curl it...??!!?! At the bottom, it was shorter IN THE MIDDLE, longer on the left side and slighter shorter than that on the right!!!! (My hair was to the middle of my back, with the haircut I had to get to fix my hair, it is now just below my shoulders.) Nice people but not much skill. read more
