My hair has been thinning for awhile. I've tried everything to fix the way it looks. I used Rogaine for a long time until it started burning my scalp. I've tried hair pieces. I've tried using tinted dry shampoo. I've tried microfibers you sprinkle in your hair. Nothing was really the answer, because even if I could get it looking mostly ok, I'd always have to take a shower and wash it out and then live with myself at home looking bald. So, knowing it was going to be expensive I decided to at least reach out and see what could be done. Google turned up MM Seattle with the five star rating and how could I go anyplace else? I'm so glad I found Minela! Here are some things to know: She's super cool but totally chill and easy to talk to. Do not be intimidated by how cool she looks! Her studio is clean and bright and welcoming. It's not a spa like some places and it's not a tattoo parlor, either. She is passionate about covid protocols. The large windows are open and there is an a/c vent blowing right in your face, which means she's not breathing directly on you. I was afraid it would be challenging to get there from Renton, or to find it, but it was neither. Just thinking about going on the West Seattle Bridge and navigating around that area gives me hives but it turned out to be really easy to get to. There isn't a lot of parking but once you get used to the layout, I never had trouble finding parking in the area. And, of course, there is the result! My hair has never been thick but in the last few years, it's been THIN. You can't see the dots at all, even though the overall effect is a full head of hair. I can put my hair in a ponytail or wear it down with a part. I can make a part anywhere, which is extra cool. So yes, it was expensive, but it was for me, and my only regret is not doing it earlier. If you have thinning hair but you're not completely bald, I wanted to make sure you have a picture for reference because when I was looking for examples, I only found one picture of long hair. Based on the knowledge that less change is better, when my hair started to fall out I preemptively had it cut off. This is done strategically so the hair ends up in the wig in the same place that it was on my head. This was the best decision I ever made. One day later my wig was ready and one can't tell it is a wig at all. The skill, experience and emotion that goes into building a masterpiece like my wig is amazing. He can help with women or men and has many options to help you with your needs. Kurt who runs the operation is kind, patient, knowledgeable, skilled, and gracious. I chose the option of using my own hair to create a customized wig. This allows me to have a custom fitted wig that perfectly fits my head and use my own natural hair. Kurt is able to customize the hair so it looks so much more like me. The wig was so well made and actually for my head shape and size. He is truly a skilled artist. If you want to keep your original hair length, it does require him to leave only 1/2 -3/4 inch of your hair. You will have very short hair. But I knew I would be losing my hair with chemo so I didn't mind having short hair which actually was nice during the shedding process. Background: I'm going through cancer treatment and prior to the start of my chemotherapy, I visited all of the wig shops around the seattle and east side area. I only considered 100% human hair wigs and was quoted somewhere between $3500-$4700 for premade wigs that didn't fit well and looked so unnatural from my real hair. Kurt was much more reasonable in his pricing and is able to customize the wig to your head shape/size and hair. The turnaround for wig was approximately a week which was waaay faster than the wig shops which quoted between 3-4 weeks. Please give him a call. I'm so glad I did and hope someone else in my situation knows there is another resource available to you. At a bare minimum, find the option that works best for you. You deserve it.

She left a voicemail explaining that she needed more information and to feel free to call or send a text message with all of the details and reiterated her number twice. I texted her back at 3 PM with all of my contact information and that I needed haircut and color. I even excitedly added a bit about how wonderful the yelps are and how self-conscious I am at normal salons and I felt super excited to try a place that seemed really inviting and friendly for people who experience hair loss. I did not receive a call back or text that Tuesday nor did I receive a call or text Wednesday or today Thursday. I even texted Wednesday with a message that I was following up and again... nothing.
