Chicken satay skewers were cooked very well and still juicy. Wasn't to big on the peanut sauce (personal preference) but it didn't really need it. Thai fried rice was very flavorful!! Truly enjoyed this dish with beef. Drunken Noodles was also very flavorful. It is more on the saucy side. But was still very good Masaman Curry with rice. I love this dish, it isn't as creamy as others but fits perfect with the rice. I took the leftovers and had it with rice the following day. Definitely recommend trying this gem out. read more

Aren't local places great? This is the little engine that could. We always go here for an inexpensive yet flavorful meal. It's BYOB but I order from their tea list and it's always warm and flavorful no matter what I get. We love their Curry Puffs. Five morsels of flavorful goodness that really aren't like anything I've had previously. My SO always order Pad Thai and the price is very reasonable and we always have leftovers. I'm a fan of Drunken Noodle with the spice adjusted upon request but it's great with its larger noodles. We haven't tried any desserts as we're stuffed. Absolutely go here. It's modest and yes in a strip mall but it's calm, inexpensive and delicious. You won't regret it. read more

We visited when it was under different ownership. The decor has been upgraded, and the service remains wonderful. We tried their lunch specials: green curry tofu and drunken noodles with tofu. Now, the specials only come with a salad. The salad was refreshing, but we wished the lettuce was cut into smaller pieces. It consisted of iceberg lettuce, a cherry tomato, and a slice of cucumber. The green curry tofu was delightful, served in a bowl of delicious curry sauce with rice on the side. The long-grain rice was perfectly cooked--not mushy. The drunken noodles had a nice spice, which my husband thoroughly enjoyed. We truly appreciate the vegetarian options and look forward to revisiting them when we are in the area. read more

Mixed bag here at absolute Thai on a take out order. Chili chicken wings were outstanding Chicken pad see ew was very good The shrimp with mixed vegetables was awful Very little flavor, and the sauce was very watery. The shrimp had the iodine taste. Skip that dish and you should be fine. read more

We've been ordering here a lot lately. It's nice to have a good Thai place nearby. I like the red curry chicken- the sauce, and there's plenty of it, is amazing! It has great flavor and richness. The chicken is thinly sliced and tender. Other good dishes are the pineapple fried rice and pad Thai. We order the pad that without some of the ingredients that my kids don't like. The pineapple fried rice has a good umami flavor. There is a mother dish that we love who can you don't often see at Thai restaurants. It's a Chinese broccoli dish with pork. read more

Staying in Old Bridge, NJ for one night and wanted dinner. I got on Yelp and searched for Thai places near me. Absolute Thai was pretty close, and on their website it says they are open until 9:30pm and they seat the dining room until 8:30pm. So I headed over. I arrived before 8:30pm and asked to be seated and was told "take out only". Well, I'm hungry after a long drive and staying in a hotel, so I still needed dinner. I tried to order Tom Kha soup with steamed tofu but was told that they only have fried tofu, so I went with shrimp instead of tofu. I ordered this "spicy". I also ordered Pad See Ew with fried tofu, and Green Curry with fried tofu ("medium"). The food was ready rather quickly. My order came to $42.12. I started with the Tom Kha soup -- the broth was very flavorful, and perfectly balanced. There was a large amount of mushrooms, but a total of 3 shrimp that were overcooked. Probably should have ordered the soup with vegetables instead. I moved on to the Pad See Ew -- overwhelmingly sweet and salty sauce, but at least flavorful, lots of tofu. And finally the Green Curry -- very flavorful, a good amount of spice, lots of tofu. The portions for the Pad See Ew and Green Curry are quite generous. The Tom Kha was mostly broth -- needed more shrimp/vegetables. Overall, I give it 3 stars -- it's ok, not great. read more

Today was my first time trying Absolute Thai, and it will not be my last! We came around 1pm and had the place to ourselves. The inside is very clean and visually pleasing, and I liked how the window had Christmas decorations and nutcrackers. There was also jazzy Christmas music too. The server was also so sweet and nice! Besides the inside, the food was amazing. I got the chicken pad Thai lunch special (only $12!) and it was DELICIOUS. The sauce was so good and it was exactly what I've been craving. It's a huge portion size and I had a lot to take home. My friends also got the curry puffs and fried rice and they were not bad either. If you're craving Thai, check this place out!! read more

Went to Absolute Thai for the first time and will not return. First the tables for two were so close to each other that we could hear every word said by the couples on either side. My cashews with vegetables and shrimp was good but salty. The portions were plentiful and both my husband and I had plenty to take home. We might have returned another time but the fact that we were charged .35 per take out container angered us both. When we are paying $60+ for a meal, why charge us an additional .70? read more

Fantastic Thai food. My first experience here was purely by chance: I needed to get takeout one day, and I randomly pulled in here. As I was sitting outside looking at the menu, the owner came out to check if I was waiting on food. I ended up getting Thai Basil chicken and Tom Yum soup with shrimp, both of which were excellent and obviously made with love from the seasonings to the way the carrots were cut. I should also mention that I ordered food at the front desk, used the bathroom, and by the time I was done my food was packaged and ready for me. This was over a year ago when they first opened. As I was looking up Asian places near the area, Absolute Thai came up and I was ecstatic to try it again but also slightly skeptical that the food would have the same level of passion. I'm happy to say that my expectations were easily exceeded, and that the food tasted as fresh and made with love as it did that fortuitous time when I visited during their grand opening. The owner/chef took care of us and was as incredibly friendly as I remember her husband being if not even more so. The food was just as good if not better. We mostly opted for appetizers, along with sweet chili fried rice which was equally delicious, then all three desserts which were also done well. It's funny that their tagline is "made with love" since that is absolutely accurate, and apparent in the food and its preparation. I'm going to try to keep this place in rotation since it's probably the best Thai place in the area, and the owners are exceptionally friendly with an incredibly clean restaurant which is now reservation-only for dining -- which is highly recommended. read more

One thing I find amusing about manalapan is how freely diners will offer 5-star reviews as if everything from mediocre and above is life altering. This isn't to take anything away from Absolute Thai, a welcome addition to the Manalapan take-out scene that veers towards the authentic versus the commercialized Thai that has become ubiquitous in the region, but 5 Stars? No. I will offer 4 and that is a very good rating for a neighborhood Thai joint, but 5 stars is reserved for some prized eatery in the heat of Bangkok. Actually, by that standard Amazing Thai probably drops to a 2 , but I digress. 4 stars it is and they are well deserved. The chicken with green curry was an orgy of exotic flavors with just a hint of heat and it was perfectly tamed by the delicious sticky rice. The drunken noodles were spot on and some of the best around and the the Thai basil fried rice, a tapestry of onion, garlic, egg, rice, basil, carrots, and green beans knocked it out of the park. There were so many dishes we wanted to try and we certainly will be revisiting this welcome addition to the Manalapan/Monroe area. read more

Our party had the following: - Absolute Rolls - Wings - Absolute Salad w/ Roasted Sesame Dressing - Sweet and Sour Crispy Duck - Beef Thai Fried Rice - Chicken Tom Yum Fried Rice - Spaghetti Kee-Mao - Steamed Jasmine Rice - Thai Iced Tea Every dish was perfectly done. All of the ingredients were fresh and the sauces and dressings were perfect complements. If I had to choose my top 3 from our selection, it would be the Wings, Sweet & Sour Crispy Duck and the Spaghetti Kee-Mao. That is not a negative on any of the other items as it was difficult to choose my top 3 from such a flavorful selection. The restaurant is warm and well-appointed with gold and dark wood throughout. The layout is airy and spacious and the restrooms are clean and tidy. The restaurant is only doing takeout and delivery until indoor dining conditions improve at a later date. Call for current available options. It's so nice to have an excellent Thai restaurant option in the area. June, the owner, is very friendly & outgoing. I suppose you mix in the old with the new and reduce cost. The SHRIMP & CHECKEN DUMPLING's - these are not DUMPLING's they are frozen Chinese DIM-SUM. Cold as well. Then to the Piece of Resistance - Our favorite SHRIMP ROLL's - I didn't know they made shrimp so small. They looked so uniformed like little soldiers. Evidently another PRE-MADE item. I live about 20 minutes from here so my wife called 10 minutes after I left. She immediately called and said it would be ready in 15 minutes. I was there within 10 minutes and the food was ready. ?? I've ordered from Absolute Thai before for lunch, and appreciate how quick and friendly their service is. I usually get the drunken noodles and found that the lunch version didn't have as many of the mix-ins (tofu, veggies, etc) and was more noodle heavy. However, I recently ordered the dinner version and found it was a very generous serving that I was able to eat for too meals and there were plenty of tofu and vegetables. Also the spice level of "spicy" was perfect. The only downside was that it was greasier than most drunken noodles that I've had and could do with less oil. My boyfriend ordered the thai basil fried rice with beef, and he liked it so much that he definitely overate instead of saving some for the next day. We arrived with out of town guests At the door itself, a young hostess, rattled off rules of engagement, so it would seem. She came to the part where she said that if anyone was vegetarian, there is no curry, pad thai or several other items except for fried rice as everything will have pre-prepared fish oil in all the sauces.
