I got a hold of someone right away to discuss the situation at my house, and got a thorough education on radon and their solutions from a very nice, patient individual. They offered to come out for an estimate, but it did not seem necessary given their costs are fairly fixed. I am very pleased with the services of Absolute Radon Safety. They installed a radon reduction system in our home in 2016 and it has worked well ever since. The install was a little complicated but the tech was great in getting the system to meet our specs. This winter the fan noise increased to an annoying level so I emailed to have a tech look at it. Absolute Radon offers a 10 year warranty, as apposed to the usual 5 yr on the fan, so they were happy to honor the warranty and sent a tech out within a few days and at a time of my convenience. The tech was able to quickly diagnose and solve the issue by installing a new fan. Immediately after Absolute Radon Safety installed our radon fan, the radon levels in our house fell to safe levels, below 3 pc/l, as measured by my Radon Eye RD200 detector. But several weeks later, they went back up above 6 pc/l, which is unsafe. The radon fan was still working fine, so my assumption is that, as the fan dried out the soil below our slab, more soil surface area was exposed, producing more radon gas. I called ARS and let them know what had happened. ARS requires results from an independent lab in order to honor their 4 pcl max warranty. So I conducted a standard charcoal radon test (ARS provided a test kit with our installation). I ran the test - twice - but the radon testing lab claims that they did not receive either test sample I mailed to them. So I took matters into my own hands, spending an additional $200 and a day and a half of my time to seal the expansion joints in our basement slab. Even after sealing just 70% of the expansion joints, our radon levels were cut in half, and are now back at safe levels. I blame myself for not insisting that ARS include expansion joint sealing as part of the original radon abatement job, something I did bring up when I called to schedule the job. But the owner of ARS told me that sealing joints in the slab was unnecessary. I still believe ARS is a quality vendor, but from a time and cost perspective, I wish I had chosen the slightly higher bid from another vendor who included expansion joint sealing in their bid. read more

I looked around quite a bit for a radon mitigation company and was surprised by the amount of great reviews for this company on all websites (thumbtack, yelp, google, facebook). Now I know those reviews are accurate! Our house was not an easy one to do as our basement is a fully finished walk out and we live in it. Finding a place to put the system that wouldn't be in our bedroom, or living room, or leave a long trail of piping on the outside of our house was a true challenge. They spent time walking through all the options with me and then did a fantastic job of installing in a pantry and running the pipe through the garage. It looks great and is barely visible. This company was a pleasure to work with. Not only did they quote me a fair price but the work was done quickly and clean. I couldn't even tell I had work done when our technician was done with installation. But what made this company great to work with was when my HOA slapped me with a letter letting me know I would be fined because the downspout did not match our homes paint. The HOA gave me three weeks to get it painted or else I would be fined weekly. I called Katherine at Absolute Radon and thought they would tell me that I would have to find someone else to fix the issue but instead she had a technician out to my home in less then a week to paint the downspout! When I asked what the cost was to paint the downspout she said no charge!?!? I will refer this company to everyone I know. The first installation was not very good. The Radon level was reduced from an initial high of 12 pci/l but still came at about 3 - 4.5 pci/l at the lowest level. Also due to poor communication with me, the pipe was installed at the backyard, patio side (noise & visual issue) rather than in the garage. Absolute Radon respected their guarantee and sent another guy, Nick, to fix the system. Nick found that one chamber under the floor was not mitigated by the previous technician and fixed it. He also moved the pipe to my garage. After that, the Radon level came at about 1 pci/l which is very good. Nick was great in communication and work. Unfortunately, I'm left with a somewhat crudely plugged hole in the back of the house due to the initial install. In conclusion, Absolute Radon has expert people like Nick that do a great job, but also some less good technicians. They respect their guarantee. To get it right the first time better make sure they send you one of their experienced technicians. read more
