Stepping into this store delights my heart. Music instruments beautifully displayed! Well-stocked shelves of music and accessories! I asked my parents for an electronic piano and piano lessons in kindergarten. Then came a decade of piano lessons, two years of classical guitar lessons, and hearty participation in middle and high school band. Playing music wasn't a part of my life in my 20s (except for that one Valentine's Day that I borrowed a guitar and played an Iron & Wine song for my college boyfriend in a candlelit dorm room!), but now that my education is complete and my career is on track, I have a teeny tiny bit more time for hobbies. Or, at least the desire to have Christmas easy piano sheet music on hand for Christmas merriment at my boyfriend's parents' house, in which there is a piano. I was tempted to buy on amazon, but I wanted to make sure that the sheet music was advanced beginner and included lyrics. When I entered the store, I was greeted by a friendly employee who helped me navigate the sheet music area. There were six or so books that fit the bill, and I found one that looked perfect to me. $18, easy peasy. Should I ever feel the need to purchase piano accessories or guitar gear in the future, Absolute Music will be my go-to store. And should I ever have children, you bet I will encourage him, her, or them to learn an instrument that will be rented first from here.

The entire center is clean, spacious, and has a very friendly and welcoming staff. I've taken about 7 ukulele lessons with Hector so far and while I'm not anywhere near ready to perform on the stage in the back, I can see a noticeable improvement in the way I approach learning to play an instrument. I had picked up the ukulele for fun several years ago but my skill level stayed mostly stagnant until I started these lessons. Hector has also taught me to hear music in a more meaningful way. Without getting very deep in music theory, I'm learning to appreciate the flow, the tempo, and the genius composition of music artists in their songs. Hector plays multiple instruments himself and performs in the area when not teaching. His knowledge and passion for music are readily evident as soon as you meet him and he is one of those teachers who makes students want to come back to learn more. His easygoing manner and great personality take the pressure off without lowering the standard. He also has the uncanny ability to sense and adjust to my level (mostly limitations) and shapes the lessons around my abilities and interests. When I leave each lesson, I have a good idea exactly what to work on next without feeling overwhelmed. For anyone looking for music lessons in the area, I highly recommend Jampro.

She has been a part of several amazing bands through Jampro, playing both at their awesome on-site stage and at festivals and businesses here in town. The improvement in her musical talents has been a beautiful and impressive journey that continues to leave me in awe. All of the teachers have been excellent and top caliber musicians themselves. Jampro often served as a safe space for my daughter during some difficult times through the years. They treated her like family and I will forever be grateful. The facility is top notch and every thing you'd expect from a high end studio and more. They even have courses to learn audio production and DJ. I invite anyone to take a tour as you will be wowed by all they offer. The programs are not cheap, but I've found them to be worth every penny and a truly worthy investment in my daughter.

This year we both came in to get a small portable PA system and 2 microphone sets which came with cords and stands in a cool pack. As a Drummer, I bought for myself, an Evans Genera HD dry 14 inch snare drum head, my first new drum head for my Tama 7 piece drum kit. I also picked up some new cool drum sticks. I can't wait to try out my new sticks with the sound of my new Evans snare drum head...a drummers dream! You are never too old to start playing an instrument. I am going to be 66 in July and I can say I play piano and I am a drummer. I may never go on tour or play gigs but I know playing the piano and drums makes me happy. Kids who play an instrument do better in school. I know because I have 3 kids. All grown now. All play music. Guitar Center in Reno has lessons if you ever wanted to just learn to play an instrument. You are not too old to start! Piano, vocals, guitar and drums lessons are available. All these instruments in a beautiful store with so many choices. Check this store out. See you again soon. I drove over 30 miles to pick up this order for him and while 4 other items on order had no problems, they claimed there was a credit issue with the guitar. They did not tell us this when we called for pick up info, did not tell us this when we arrived and gathered all other items, and only claimed there was an issue after 2 phone calls from my brother AND me going back inside. I asked for a manager in person and both refused to come out and speak with me. I will NEVER return to this place. This is not the first time we've had problems. Their service is garbage, and so is their product. Wish I could give zero stars.

While…read moreI was a musician in my former life, my son is the reason why we keep coming back to Blue Note B's. Blue Note B's was originally recommended to us by my son's trumpet player as THE place to get his horn serviced. They were able to get his antique horn (which once belonged to my late grandfather, a jazz musician from St. Louis, and which sat on a shelf for decades before my son came along) into great playing shape - including straightening out a bend in the lead pipe and getting slides and valves to not stick. My son still plays this special trumpet in a jazz band but also now plays bass in another jazz band. We have been to Blue Note B's for several repairs on his bass instruments - and I have been so impressed with how Wesley has handled many different issues and his expert advice. He has "saved the day" on more than one occasion (thank you, Wesley!!) and has been very patient with my perfectionist son. We have also found other staff to be knowledgeable and accommodating, too. No doubt, this will always be our "go-to" place for all of our musical needs. We are lucky to have Blue Note B's here in Reno!

I was told I'd be charged 30 equal payments and the instrument would be paid off. They charged me 46 payments, an overcharge of nearly $500. As I was dealing with cancer treatment at the time, I didn't catch this until 2025. When I asked for a refund (based on original agreement) I was denied and told I could apply it toward an upgraded instrument (current policy). I'd give 0 stars for a deceptive trade practice if I could.

This past weekend I was going to breakfast down the way, and had some time to kill with the wait so wondered on down. This is a GREAT local music shop with small venue in the back. So many instruments and a very cozy/warm atmosphere. The converted house is the perfect building for this type of business. The owner (or one of them?) was quick to greet us and show us around the place. I tried out a couple of vintage instruments when I was there and he was very knowledgeable and informative about what I was playing. Looking forward to coming back for a live performance at sometime. They seem to have routine jam sessions as well as touring musicians stopping by the place.

We rang the doorbell and were greeted by one of the owners, Don, and his dog LadyBug. Don informed us that if we were looking for records, we were in the wrong place but told us to come check out what they DID have. Mountain Music Parlor is a cute little shop filled with all sorts of instruments. So many that you'll have to go see for yourself including endless ukuleles, cricket violins, guitars, and more. The most amazing thing about Don was that no matter what obscure musical instrument or accessory we asked about, Don had it! From cajons to violin mutes. He also showed us the performance room where they have different jam sessions including Celtic nights, Old Time, Cowboy, Aloha Ukulele, Open Mic, and Bluegrass. They also have music lessons available for various instruments. I'm so glad to have stumbled upon Mountain Music Parlor and will definitely be getting all of my musical knick knacks from them for the foreseeable future. Always excited when I can support great local businesses like this!
