Arthur was great, came on time and fixed my piano after I was told it wasn't fixable. It truly paid to get a second opinion.

This past weekend I was going to breakfast down the way, and had some time to kill with the wait so wondered on down. This is a GREAT local music shop with small venue in the back. So many instruments and a very cozy/warm atmosphere. The converted house is the perfect building for this type of business. The owner (or one of them?) was quick to greet us and show us around the place. I tried out a couple of vintage instruments when I was there and he was very knowledgeable and informative about what I was playing. Looking forward to coming back for a live performance at sometime. They seem to have routine jam sessions as well as touring musicians stopping by the place.

We rang the doorbell and were greeted by one of the owners, Don, and his dog LadyBug. Don informed us that if we were looking for records, we were in the wrong place but told us to come check out what they DID have. Mountain Music Parlor is a cute little shop filled with all sorts of instruments. So many that you'll have to go see for yourself including endless ukuleles, cricket violins, guitars, and more. The most amazing thing about Don was that no matter what obscure musical instrument or accessory we asked about, Don had it! From cajons to violin mutes. He also showed us the performance room where they have different jam sessions including Celtic nights, Old Time, Cowboy, Aloha Ukulele, Open Mic, and Bluegrass. They also have music lessons available for various instruments. I'm so glad to have stumbled upon Mountain Music Parlor and will definitely be getting all of my musical knick knacks from them for the foreseeable future. Always excited when I can support great local businesses like this!

We had to fill out a credit check form for the rental program. They presented us with both a used and new violin option with reasonable pricing for renting and insurance. Their program is great where we can rent-to-own if we decide later to purchase it. All the rental payments are put towards the purchase which is awesome. They also allow you to switch it out if our child outgrows the size. It was a super easy process to pick up a rental instrument and seems like the store has quite the variety of supplies for both wind and string instruments.

All of the suggestions The guy had for me as a new guitar player were perfect. He recommended me a good book to start with. How to properly hold a guitar, etc.. I know things are cheaper on the Internet, and the two things that he recommended to me were definitely cheaper, however, you can't get this type of service from Amazon .

Shipping was free, but some things are better picked up in person when you can. You can't really tell from outside that inside there's a really large, well laid out display of guitars and accessories. We had already purchased the guitar I wanted, but I asked to have it unboxed, and to take a closer look and try it out in person. They do individual listings by guitar, so the pictures you see online are of the actual guitar you're buying, which is great. Everything was exactly as shown, and again, it's a lucky find that Bizarre Guitar is local. The store has been in business and family-owned since 1974 (one of the people helping us said he'd been coming here since he was a kid)! Amazing to have such a long history for a music store, and to be able to survive after the emergence of chain stores. I did see that their online return policy was pretty strict, but it also explained that they're getting flooded with returns by people who just wanted to try a guitar out, and while some big box retailers can handle that, it's not sustainable for an independent owner. I am beyond happy with my purchase, and would 100% buy from them again. TIP: Check out their sales on Reverb...unbelievable prices.

This year we both came in to get a small portable PA system and 2 microphone sets which came with cords and stands in a cool pack. As a Drummer, I bought for myself, an Evans Genera HD dry 14 inch snare drum head, my first new drum head for my Tama 7 piece drum kit. I also picked up some new cool drum sticks. I can't wait to try out my new sticks with the sound of my new Evans snare drum head...a drummers dream! You are never too old to start playing an instrument. I am going to be 66 in July and I can say I play piano and I am a drummer. I may never go on tour or play gigs but I know playing the piano and drums makes me happy. Kids who play an instrument do better in school. I know because I have 3 kids. All grown now. All play music. Guitar Center in Reno has lessons if you ever wanted to just learn to play an instrument. You are not too old to start! Piano, vocals, guitar and drums lessons are available. All these instruments in a beautiful store with so many choices. Check this store out. See you again soon. I asked for a manager in person and both refused to come out and speak with me. I will NEVER return to this place. This is not the first time we've had problems. Their service is garbage, and so is their product. Wish I could give zero stars.

The entire center is clean, spacious, and has a very friendly and welcoming staff. I've taken about 7 ukulele lessons with Hector so far and while I'm not anywhere near ready to perform on the stage in the back, I can see a noticeable improvement in the way I approach learning to play an instrument. I had picked up the ukulele for fun several years ago but my skill level stayed mostly stagnant until I started these lessons. Hector has also taught me to hear music in a more meaningful way. Without getting very deep in music theory, I'm learning to appreciate the flow, the tempo, and the genius composition of music artists in their songs. Hector plays multiple instruments himself and performs in the area when not teaching. His knowledge and passion for music are readily evident as soon as you meet him and he is one of those teachers who makes students want to come back to learn more. His easygoing manner and great personality take the pressure off without lowering the standard. He also has the uncanny ability to sense and adjust to my level (mostly limitations) and shapes the lessons around my abilities and interests. When I leave each lesson, I have a good idea exactly what to work on next without feeling overwhelmed. For anyone looking for music lessons in the area, I highly recommend Jampro.

She has been a part of several amazing bands through Jampro, playing both at their awesome on-site stage and at festivals and businesses here in town. Jampro often served as a safe space for my daughter during some difficult times through the years. They treated her like family and I will forever be grateful. The facility is top notch and every thing you'd expect from a high end studio and more. They even have courses to learn audio production and DJ. I invite anyone to take a tour as you will be wowed by all they offer. The programs are not cheap, but I've found them to be worth every penny and a truly worthy investment in my daughter.

He blew me away with his knowledge and recommendations. Even threw in a free viol lesson for me! It is very hard to find this type of quality and care and commitment to one's profession. For one, he answered his phone on a weekend outside of working hours. He was very flexible with meeting me, very friendly, and went out of his way to help me. His prices are probably lower than they should be, he really just cares about his work. He improved the sound of my violin, I didn't even know that could be done. There were several issues that needed to be addressed (some of which I was unaware of until his discerning eye pointed them out). Mr. Dodd carefully showed me exactly what needed to be addressed, why, and how he proposed fixing it. About a week later (what?!?!, that never happens!), I picked up my violas and was surprised at how much their tone and action had improved. This is a shop of true professionals. As Mr. Dodd was showing me what work needed to be done on my violas, his associate was busy with a wood chisel, shaping a violin. I've asked various violin/viola players I know, (plus my amazing viola teacher), and they all share the same opinion. Mr. Dodd is a fine man - honest, objective, and trusting. And he runs his business that way. I found that to be true. Dodd Violin Shop has my business. 1. Honest. 2. Competent repair shop. 3. Passionate about their art. Very refreshing...
