The report came in and it showed that they only inspected one chimney, which I did not catch and was misrepresented to me. Sir-Vent attached with the report wood stove manufacturers that they recommended. I assumed that they had inspected both chimneys, based on the recommendation of wood stoves. Upon self installing the wood stove, the first fire, smoke backed up into the house. I had another chimney company inspect the problem. It turns out my downstairs flue is cracked and plugged up with creosote. The cracks could have caused a chimney fire. After calling Sir-Vent, they tried to get out of it saying they only inspected one chimney, even though they recommended wood stoves for the other one. A miss-communication? I don't think so.

The extent of the issue was not immediately apparent. When I raised concerns, communication was limited. The work appeared incomplete, and some equipment was left behind. Although I was told the entire system had been cleaned, the main trunk line did not appear to have been accessed.
