We were told that because we were so late we'd have to be rescheduled because my appointment was 3:45. I say no, it was 3:50 and showed the front person my email confirmation and that I was still within the late policy. She said "hmm," and then said they'd still have to reschedule because I didn't have verified insurance. Wait, what? Where's that policy? I had updated the new insurance info the day before and somehow it didn't exist anymore in my account, which was also weird, but not really relevant, just interesting, because I think there must be software/program issues. I even offered to pay out of pocket to be seen due to the lack of insurance verification, and was STILL told a reschedule was the best they could do. It was very clear they were running extremely behind. We've always had the latest appointment and never seen the lobby like that. There's nothing anywhere in policies that say if you're a bit behind, even within the late window, and don't have your insurance verified, that they'll turn you away. I made that point. The manager agreed - that wasn't a written policy, but you still won't let me pay you out of pocket and are turning us away. I've wondered why there's a ton of staff and doctor turnover here. The staff seem miserable, and frankly, today, the manager punished us because they were the ones so far behind. If you want to create a brand new policy for the last appointment of the day that you're going to be turned away without verified insurance within 24hrs, regardless if they want to pay out of pocket, than do that. Give a 5min grace period instead of 15min. Warn people. We'd been considering leaving for a while due to cold staff, but doc interactions kept us hopeful. They've always been really great. The rest of the staff just aren't happy. This manager made it way too easy to walk away and never look back. As someone who runs a business, this was an absolutely horribly managed business. Don't waste your time here.

Would you drive an hour just to go to the dentist? Absolutely! Especially if it's my kids dentist!…read moreAs a mom you want the absolute best for your kids. It is hard to find caring and loving Dr's that love to do what they do! Dr. Eduardo not only is he great with kids but very passionate about his job. Makes parents well aware of the kids needs, makes sure parents understand what type of treatment is needed and why the treatment is needed. He makes kids feel comfortable and welcomed. I would most definitely follow Dr. Eduardo where ever he goes !

I've been coming to Petite Dental for 7 years and I'll never go anywhere else for pediatric dental…read morecare. Everyone here is kind, positive, and patient with the littles. It's a dream for a parent with dental anxiety! Fast forward to this week: after an appointment, my kitten popped the balloon they gave us. Kiddo was SO sad, so I took a chance and called to ask if we could come pick up a replacement. Celeste was instantly full of empathy! She understood the importance of the balloon, and didn't hesitate to make a new one! What a huge relief it was! When I arrived and needed help with other services, she was so helpful, communicated clearly and was just a blast to talk to. And her coworker (should have gotten her name) was so fun, chatty, and helpful too. It made a stressful situation so much easier to handle.

I can't fully express how ticked off I am about this dentist. I brought my kids here for YEARS, and…read moreour last visit is the last. Dr. Kim told us my oldest had eight caviites. EIGHT! All that consistent brushing and flossing meant nothing, I guess. I said the price tag was a bit steep for us and that it would be easier if we just did the major one and saved the rest for some other time. Their response: "No. Our policy is to work on all the teeth and not leave any decay in a child's mouth. It's best to get it all done at once." Something didn't feel right about that to me because it seemed high-pressure and these were her permanent teeth we were discussing. I made an excuse and asked for the X-rays without scheduling a new appointment, then brought her to my dentist. First off he had to take new X-rays because the ones from Petite Dental were bad quality. He said he could only find one cavity and a couple other potential issues that could later become cavities if she didn't take care, but her teeth were in excellent shape. And to top it all off, the cavity was UNDER a crown (which Dr. Kim neglected to mention when she told me about it). There should only be less than a 10% chance of that happening if the crown was done correctly. I went from suspicion to full-blown mama bear. I called Dr. Kim's office to let them know I would hold off with my other child who they said had five cavities so that I could see if the enamel-healing toothpaste (nano hydroxyapatite) I'd gotten would help, then we'd do a second set of X-rays and get a new assessment in a few months. The response was lackluster at first, but the lady at the front desk agreed to my suggestion. Then two minutes later she called back to try pressuring me into just getting the work done because a new set of X-rays wouldn't make a difference anyway. I just about blew up and said we're done with them. As nice as these people are, they are not trustable. They believe firmly in their own infallibility and race towards the most medically-invasive procedures even when it's not necessary. When someone gets paid more for something being wrong, they tend to err on the side of "caution". We won't be back. Ever.

If we're being real...nobody likes going to the dentist. But ATX Family Dental completely changed…read morethe experience for me. First off, the space is chic, modern, and actually feels intentional. Not sterile and cold , but stylish and welcoming. The waiting room is super cute and thoughtfully designed, which already makes you feel more relaxed walking in. Every treatment room has a TV on the ceiling (because seriously... why do dentists put them on the wall where you can't even see them while laying back?). And yes, they give you the remote. Full control. As they should. They also give you these cool heart-eye sunglasses while they work on you, which is such a small but fun touch that makes everything feel less clinical and more comfortable. Beyond the aesthetics though, the environment felt inclusive and diverse. I felt safe in more ways than one, and that matters. A lot. ‍ If you're in Austin and have been putting off a dentist visit, this might be the place that changes your mind.
