Hello everyone, hope alls well with you all. I just wanted to take a moment and while some light on this awesome team I like to call the Tru Crew. A little about me, I just moved to Austin and was looking for a new dental team. I kept hearing about Tru Dentistry so I decided to take my peoples advice and try it out. Trying out a new place can be scary, I didn't know what to expect. As soon as I walked in the gentleman behind the counter knew my name and made me feel welcome. He got me checked in, and the dental assistant got me in and was very knowledgeable about what she was doing, breaking down each step with the X-rays she was taking not only making me me feel comfortable, but I learned a few things during the process. Next, the dental hygienist Ashton came in and answered all my questions, and made me feel so comfortable about my cleaning. I don't know about y'all but cleanings make me nervous. I got to say being a new girl in town and being nervous about dental work, the Tru Crew really put me at ease. I've honestly never had so much fun at the dentist. Thanks Tru Crew! I went in for a dental cleaning. First, they asked for my social security number, which raised a red flag, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Next, they failed to provide a price for services upfront (except to tell me x-ray imaging is free). This raised another red flag, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Then... 1. They took x-rays. 2. They made me wait for an hour. 3. They informed me I cannot get a dental cleaning, which was the whole reason I was here. It was 3pm and they close at 4pm. Ooook. Appointment over I guess? 4. Nope. I need to wait for the doctor. Why? They don't know why. 5. Half an hour later a creepy guy comes in and tells me I grind my teeth at night. This is the doctor. Okay, can I have a dental cleaning? No, I cannot. It's too late. How is it too late? It just is. Welp, this was a massive waste of time. 6. Creepy doctor tells me he used AI to examine my teeth. He does this unprompted. He brags about it. He goes on about it at length! I just gape at him. Alright folks, this is Texas, which is beholden not only to HIPAA, but also the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, which makes feeding my medical data into AI VERY ILLEGAL, except in super specific circumstances. To wit, this dentist requires EXPLICIT permission from me, strict user opt-in/opt-out mechanisms and disclosure of automated profiling, to upload my data to an AI. Since I ABSOLUTELY DESPISE the AI currently wreaking havoc in our society (as does every other person who actually understands the implications of this dumb technology) I absolutely DO NOT consent to sending my private medical data to any AI entity. 7. Why did this guy get a medical degree if he's going to ask an AI if I have a cavity?? What is happening to this world? 8. I beat a hasty retreat, giving them my dental insurance. 9. Keep in mind, they have provided me with no service whatsoever, and I don't know how much it costs to provide no service whatsoever, but they can take it up with my insurance company. Adding insult to injury, these absolute scammers sent me a bill for $530 today. I'm not joking. Insane. read more

Tru Dentistry is simply the happiest place on earth (sorry Disney!) Dr. Nichole is hands down the most phenomenal dentist I've ever known. I absolutely adore her, and, believe it or not, I really look forward to my appointments. If I'm lyin, I'm dyin! My mother, daughter, and the people I send still thank me for referring them. They originally thought I was overly enthusiastic, but now they are firm believers! You will immediately feel comfortable and at home. They do not play games about pricing, zero hidden fees, no surprises. No matter what your budget is, they will make it work, and they do not put any financial pressure on you. When you walk in the door, you will be met by the warmest, most professional, and caring people. Everyone who works there is happy; which speaks volumes. I always feel like I'm hanging out with my friends. At my appointment today, I was pretty sure I would need a new crown. Other dentists would have told me I needed one. Dr. Nichole, however, said that I do not need a crown. In fact, she quickly assessed the situation and told me I "could" need one in the future, but as long as I go to my regular 6 month checkups where she can keep an eye on the tooth, I may not need one for years to come. My 1st experience was fine. The 2nd time, they submitted the insurance claim incorrectly so my insurance rejected it as out of network. Because, it did not show up as them... I tried calling, emailing, leaving message after message, and they never replied or returned a call. 6 months later, I finally recieved mail from them that I owe them money and it is past due. This was their first communication with me since my last appointment, and only because I had another appointment coming up. And guess what? They still are not picking up their phone or returning my calls. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else. Or you might end up going to collections for their incompetence. read more

I've come here for about 2 years are highly recommend! Staff is very friendly and quick, I'm never there for more than 30-45 min when getting a routine cleaning. There's Netflix to watch while your teeth are cleaned too. Parking can be tight, but I've always managed to find a spot! Will continue to come here :) read more

Leaving a two star review is appropriate; I regret going to Tru Dentistry (previous address). The cleaning was... aggressive and done at a frantic pace. It made a terrible machine grinding sound and caused a lot of discomfort. White knuckles the whole time. The hygienist knew I was having a hard time but still blew through it with plenty of time to go scroll through her phone at the front afterward. Dentist Hollinger said I needed my very first fillings ever, so I decided to go ahead and get that over with. I mentioned I was a little nervous. As they were drilling into a back molar, the dentist started describing to the assistant her own specific fears that she has developed about getting dental work done -- fear that she'll sneeze or move... and the assistant mentioned the possibility of accidentally biting down on the drill (omg) and then moments later mentioned a separate anxiety about heights/falling. WT actual F. At that point, I started crying, and they had to pause the drilling. They then recommended laughing gas but neglected to mention a fee. Dentist Hollinger seemed surprised (and a little annoyed) that I felt it was inappropriate for them to describe their specific anxieties, both similar and unrelated, in front of a nervous patient. She said she does it to try to make her patients feel like they're not alone. It's probably ok to let the patient know, directly and generally, that most people feel nervous. But it's highly inappropriate to casually introduce and discuss specific fears in front of the patient. For months, every time I had a sensation in my tooth, I imagined biting down on the drill; this trauma was truly terrible and totally unnecessary. Even after I expressed my concerns, they made SURE to charge me the $100 for the laughing gas I needed BECAUSE OF THEM. When I reported this issue to Alex, the office manager, there was an apology, and he agreed to refund the $100, but then he was quick to say, "But we want to stay away from Google reviews and Yelp." Oh heck no. No thanks. Highly unethical. Never got the refund, but that's secondary. I had to go back multiple times because the fillings were causing pain and sensitivity; they needed several adjustments. I finally got a little help and relief from Dr. Nguyen, who seemed far more competent and professional. This really should not have happened. read more

I really really appreciated and loved my visit with TRU dentistry just now. It was my first cleaning in two years, and I was so nervous-- as I always am-- I told them I was really nervous and anxious and had sensitivity. And they got my cleaning done so efficiently and so quickly, it wasn't bad at all! I then had a whitening and was so nervous about that, for the same reasons, but the tech who did it was so great and friendly, and i felt like he covered all of the bases in executing measures to prevent pain and keep me comfortable. They even leave a squeaky toy for you to squeeze in case it gets painful and you need them, which I so appreciated bc I was traumatized from my last whitening elsewhere, like, 13 years ago. I highly recommend TRU--- efficient, fast, friendly, effective. What more could you want?! read more

Don't be fooled by the high reviews and the technology used at TRU Dentistry. I went in for a routine oral cleaning Monday 11/11/19. I had my xrays and photos taken. The hygienist congratulated me on a healthy mouth with no cavities and then left to another room. Then Dr. Hollinger came in and announced that I had 2 cavities AND periodontitis! I have been getting regular oral exams and cleanings twice a year since I was a child. I've never had cavities or gum disease. They didn't even clean my teeth. Instead they booked me for another appointment the following week for drilling and filling in 2 cavities, as well as a anesthetized deep gum-tissue cleaning. They said they would do my regular oral cleaning during this appointment as well. Mortified by the state of my dental health, I called up a local private-practice dentist for a second opinion. The hygienist there asked me what I was told at TRU Dentistry. I told her I wanted to keep that secret so I can compare against an unbiased oral exam. When I met with the new dentist, he prodded the "cavities" and told me they were just stains in the deep fissures on my molars. He said if it's bothering me visually, I can get sealant over them, but otherwise regular brushing is all I need to do. When I asked him about my gum health, he prodded my gums and reported back that they were healthy and DEFINITELY not diseased with periodontitis. Then, when I was reviewing my insurance claims, I saw that TRU Dentistry charged me for a oral cleaning! This is INSURANCE FRAUD. They only examined my teeth and then tried to prescribe painful, expensive, not-covered-by-insurance, and medically unnecessary oral procedures. I called my insurance to get this remedied. TRU Dentistry argued with me for a bit but then quickly ceded and agreed to remove the fraudulent claim. To make things just slightly worse, their charges for the oral exam were over my insurance limits, so now I need to pay out of pocket. I have never had this happen with my previous dentists. Oh also, I asked them to send my x-rays to the local dentist I went to for a second opinion. They said sure and then never sent them. In short, don't go to this practice. They will overcharge and lie to you. read more

WOW!!!! Nothing but GREAT praise for TruDentistry. I was looking for a great Dentist in Austin about a year ago and came across Tru Dentistry. From Invisalign to whitening treatments and the regular cleaning I feel comfortable and well taken care of every appointment. Im a few Invisalign treys away from a perfect smile thanks to DR. Hollinger. She's not only great great at Invisalign but has the best professional kind demeanor about her that is awesome. Im so grateful to TRULY say I've found my forever Dentistry home. I recently needed find a new dentist in Austin, so I was referred to TRU Dentistry by my wonderful girlfriend. I went in for a general check-up and teeth cleaning, and the entire experience was fantastic from start to finish. The staff was friendly, efficient and knowledgable; they made sure I knew what was happening every step of the appointment. The facility is modern, clean, and inviting (had Netflix going in my room); which is very important for someone who does not enjoy going to the dentist. Lastly, I felt the whole process was extremely transparent and easy (the conversations with the hygienist/dentist were helpful/constructive, and they communicated the pricing of everything throughout). Overall, I was couldn't be more pleased with TRU Dentistry and I'm, happy to say I have found myself a new permanent dentist in Austin. read more

Talk about High Tech! It was awesome. They have a 3D scanner of your jaw, face firstly. Then use an in-mouth camera that takes a 3d model of your bite showing you where you may be grinding at night, risk areas etc. Great stuff. Excited to get my night guards. PS. Even one star seems generous for a dental practice that takes a $3,200 deposit for aligners promising delivery within 7 weeks, then after 10 weeks has no idea what happened to your order, promises to get back to you that day, doesn't, then doesn't respond to your email? If you can't trust them to return a phone call or email after insisting on such a hefty deposit why would you trust them to work on your smile? Things sometimes go wrong with the Invisalign process and you need confidence that you can trust your dental provider to follow up. I would never trust this practice. read more

These people are just amazing. I've always had so much anxiety about the dentist to the point where I have been in tears. I came in so self conscious about smile because my gums were inflamed (I hadn't been to the dentist in 3 years). Ashton did a deep cleaning on me amd even used a laser which was really helpful in killing all the bacteria and just completely changed my smile in an hour and a half. TRU Dentistry is the best dentist I've ever been to! Dr Hollinger is super sweet and does the cleanings herself instead of leaving it to the assistant, as many dentists do. She does a stellar job too! Alex, the receptionist, is amazing. He worked with me on payments while I was waiting for my dental insurance to kick in, and has been super responsive and helpful whenever I've had questions. Dr. Hollinger is a True"10" on a scale of 1-10. And TruDentristry is a God-send blessing to have found. The entire staff is AMAZING and they are extremely accommodating in catering to, and providing care to people with busy schedules. They have been VERY effective at working with our insurance to maximize our benefits coverage and minimize our out of pocket. Our other Austin dental experiences have kept us in a stressed out chaotic state of worry, constantly micromanaging our Dental statements and bills for accuracy and honesty. I am so thankful for TRU Dentistry... I had a broken tooth from a skateboarding accident that I did not attend to until almost three months after the incident. When I found Dr. Hollinger I had substantial swelling, immense pain, & embarrassment for letting this, and other dental issues, get to a bad place. The doctor and her staff were so compassionate and understanding. I was nervous and they took the time to explain what the procedure would look like. They made sure I was comfortable and the professionalism they showed put me at ease. The procedure was completed and a plan was put together to address some of the other issues I have. This group went above & beyond to make sure I was happy, healthy, and pain free. I have recommended TRU to my coworkers and anyone who would listen. I am always uneasy about visiting the dentist and I was nervous to extend an arm to find an established primary dentist once I moved down here. I am very happy I did! The staff is vibrant and friendly and they have a "small business/local" vibe to them. Dr. Hollinger is great! They all knew what they were doing and did a great job. They are extremely knowledgable and enlightened me and gave my advice about my teeth that I had never had with previous dentists. I know now better ways of caring for my teeth. I wouldn't recommend coming here unless you're planning on spending $700 on a cleaning! Even if they accept your insurance, this place tries to get as much out of you as they can. They don't tell you the cost upfront. Normally my routine check-ups are free with insurance, and this place tried to charge a ridiculous amount! The dentists themselves are friendly and nice, which I did appreciate! But the prices seem like a bit of a scam. read more
