A few years ago it seemed like some of the doctors were changing quite often, but the core staff always remained consistenly professional. This place has been good, with insurance. When I came first, I didn't have insurance and the experience was very different (worse). I have also since requested to be seen by a different dentist at the location (first dentist had terrible bedside manner, didn't explain anything, didn't make eye contact, seemed like they were in a hurry, etc.). However, since requesting to be seen by any other provider and getting insurance, my experience has been much better. The new dentist takes the time to explain what they are doing and why. He makes eye contact, etc., pretty much just basic social expectations that we might consider good bedside manner. I do make sure to ask if what they are suggesting is covered by insurance. I would overall recommend Daylight Dental. 3-stars = average, with which I would agree. read more

I was putting off this tooth pain for a long time, until this morning. I realized I had enough, and needed emergency care asap, because having headaches from tooth pain is definitely not normal. I set an appointment last minute online for an emergency care evaluation, and even they got me in and out faster then I could ever have asked for! I am also extremely anxious in, around, and going to any kind of medical professional. They made it so easy for me, explained every step of the process of what was going to happen to me. I ended up having to get a wisdom tooth pulled; something I wasn't excited for, but they made this feel easier than my 5 years of braces when I was a teenager. I couldn't even tell when they got the tooth out, and I seriously thought id be there for at least a few hours. I'm not being dramatic when i say they got it out in about 15 minutes or less. I still might hate going in for procedures for the rest of my life. But here, I dont have to. And now I know where I can go for my regular cleanings and not feel anxious about the process of anything! read more

Actually, all my experiences here have been good. They take more x-rays than some other dentists, but as a doctor who has relied on x-rays, I know this is a sign that they are being thorough. read more

As a child my dental experiences were just bad. I was terrified of the Dentist. Before Daylight Dental I had gone to Jefferson Dental (read my review on that one). Thank God I found Daylight Dental though which has now change my mind on visiting the dentist. I actually look forward to stepping into their office and being greeted kindly by all the staff. When you have an appointment is MINIMAL WAIT time (unlike other places). My first appointment was with Dr. Rizbi who honestly was great and straight forward on what I needed. She was very kind and did not sugarcoat anything (which is what I needed). My next appointment and the dentist I now see the most is Dr. Song and HE IS INCREDIBLE!!! Very professional, friendly, kind and makes you feel relaxed reassuring you that everything will be fine. I need LOTS of work done (which I already knew from previous dentist). This office just gets things done. I usually get the same 2 assistants too( Ana is one of them) and it's always a pleasure to see them . Don't let someone who had a bad day tell you anything different in another review, Because this office is fantastic!! After going to another dentist office in south Austin which a complete train wreck and caused major stress and anxiety, I'm so happy to have found Daylight dental! The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and gentle. It's rare I have to wait longer than 10 minutes for my appointment. I literally check in, sign the waiver forms, then am immediately called back for my cleaning every time. In and out of there in less than an hour. They are also great with children and make my ten year old feel comfortable/relaxed during his visits. They let him watch a movie on Netflix while they work on his teeth. I previously had scheduling difficulties with Daylight Dental. However at today's cleanings, they let me know they have updated scheduling to "week of" instead of scheduling a particular day to remedy that. So they will now reminder call two weeks beforehand and I can schedule my appointment at that time. Or I can call them when I know my 6 month is coming. I absolutely appreciate the transparency and immediately addressing my concerns. Today they provided a free fluoride treatment for my inconvenience. Daylight Dental is caring and willing to adapt for patient comfort. I'm leaving my previous update for clarity, however it no longer applies. Previous update: I still receive excellent care from this dentist. But I've tried to schedule Saturday appts twice and ran into conflicts on their end. They initially schedule a Saturday but they are not at this location every Saturday. So when my reminder call comes, I have to reschedule for another Saturday. I still love their flexibility but since they don't open at 8 like other offices, Saturday is the only day that works for me. Be aware that when you make a Saturday appointment, that date may not be available when the time comes. It's an inconvenience. read more

Greatest dental experience I've had in my 25+ years of having teeth. Living in a household with a dental hygienist I was religiously having 6 month routine check ups. In that time frame my mother worked for 5+ dentists. Being new to Texas, first time going to a new dentist where my mother wasn't working. 1. Immediately clean space 2. Kind staff 3. Easy to book, text message reminder 4. Netflix TV so you're not bored during your cleaning. 5. Photos of all your red flags the dentist found, during the examination. Any chips, etc So aside from great work what makes me want to give them an extra star is. For the first time in my adult life (when I'm under my own insurance). Before any procedure they came to me with a chart of expenses. Clearly laid out. Explaining what was covered and what wasn't + how much it would cost. No estimates exact numbers. Typically I would get random bills in the mail, or be surprised at the desk when I had a copay etc. My point is they were transparent. So I had no surprises! I ended up getting extra procedures. read more

Don't be tricked into choosing this place. This is the worst dental office ever! I am still in shock about my experience there and can't fathom how the are still doing business. They must pay for some of the 5 star reviews. My first and last time there was terrible. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt first. I was there as a new patient because of a relocation and was there to get X-rays and a regular dental cleaning. After the X-rays were done they brought in the Dr. with TERRIBLE bedside manner. No greeting just straight to reviewing the X-rays. Then starts examining my teeth. She starts by saying I have 12 cavities and need to get fillings for all of them because they are stained. I'm positive if I had that many cavities I would know as I don't miss my dental appointments and practice good dental hygiene. After she tells me this she sends in someone to go over the estimate. I acknowledge it but knew I was going to get a second opinion. Then I wait to have my teeth cleaned. The hygienist did a poor job and was not thorough. They were about to end there. Didn't polish or floss and I had to ask them to do it. I didn't have a good feeling about the whole situation. I left and never went back. Found another dentist elsewhere and they are wonderful. Took X-rays and did a thorough exam and cleaning. New dentist said teeth look great and ZERO cavities!!! I knew it. Thankful I trusted my gut feeling. Please don't waste your time and money at Daylight dental. Poor across the boards. read more

Dr Phan was amazing. My situation occurred unexpectedly and I just moved here. I didn't think I would have luck finding someone same day. But Daylight got me in with Dr Phan on a Saturday (next day). She diagnosed my fractured tooth and gave me a temp filling till I could come back in 2 days for the crown. She was kind, put me at ease and went right to work. The other bad reviews aren't wrong. Unprofessional staff, abrasive dentist and they look at you like dollar signs. The dental hygienist didn't take the time to clean each tooth & she couldn't reach the back and simply told me that she hadn't done this in a long time. Having recently been to the dentist in another city 6 months ago, my old dentist told me that 1 tooth needed to be monitored for possible filling to crown replacement but I don't have pain, no fractures or any dark spots on the tooth. After taking some xrays, the dentist here told me i needed to change 3 fillings to crowns, and that's it. No explanation on how serious, no focus on whether there were fractures... at the same time, my partner was told that his insurance was amazing and the front desk assistant looked at him as if they hit the jackpot. We just went to our own dentists a few months ago but found ourselves in a new city. His previous dentist didn't say boo on any of the teeth that they identified for him as being problematic and guess how many? SEVEN! 7 crowns were needed? WTF? He has no pain and when they saw my face in disbelief while telling him how much work he needed, the assistant said 'oh don't worry, his insurance is amazing'. Yeah that ain't my problem. The problem is, I want someone to thoroughly explain and walk me through treatment plans and show me why the tooth needs work. Nope. He didn't have any pain either. On top of all this, we were told on the spot they could waive the fee of fluoride for teeth cleaning if we wrote a review on the spot. How many of these reviews (especially on Google) are 'real' ? I won't be back to this establishment. Any good dentist will explain to you why they believe a tooth needs treatment and if it is the right time. You know why I'm so upset? I went back to my old dentist for a second opinion and while they weren't wrong by identifying 1 tooth that needs to be changed from a filling to crown, the main factor is I don't have any pain right now, any fractures in those 3 teeth and it can all wait. Why would I wait you ask? The act of shaving down a tooth and placing a crown isn't 1 and done. I want the longevity of my teeth to take me as far as they can go. Once you change to a filling/crown, it requires monitoring for the rest of your life + maintenance. These things will need to be replaced again b/c crowns aren't impervious. If there is no pain or fractures, I am OK to keep my tooth as is until it needs to be changed. It doesn't matter that insurance will pay majority of the cost---I want to hear all positions and I want to understand the best course. The dentist needs to have your best interest in mind. read more

Very unprofessional staff, the dental assistants were not providing correct translation even though they claim to be bilingual. Dr Rizvi was completely out of line making comments such as "if you were numb 40 minutes ago you are still numb now" " I have other patients to see you can wait". She drilled the incorrect tooth because the dental assistant was not paying attention and said the wrong number for the tooth. Dr Rizvi also fixed her hair while working on the patient (did not change gloves). They ignored complains from the patient. All I have to say is "GO SOMEWHERE ELSE " it is not worth putting you or your love ones through something like this. read more

Love coming here! They are always very friendly! I come with my fiancé and they put us in the same room together side by side while we get our teeth cleaned. If you want you can watch Netflix, they put headphones on you which drain out all the noise. They are great with sending text reminders when I need my next cleaning and easy to schedule with. read more

My visit was great, the staff was really nice and friendly. I loved the fact that the dentist made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole visit, she seemed to really care. The office is also pretty new and well-kept. They offer patients the option of watching shows/movies while they wait, which is pretty neat. Fifth rate dentists. I went here for a dental cleaning and was told that I have several cavities. They urged me to get fillings. I don't consume much sugar, have good brushing habits, and have never been one to have a lot of cavities all at once, so this automatically raised some red flags. I went to another dentist for a second opinion and was informed that I have no cavities. It is appalling to me that this place was pushing for unnecessary drilling to multiple teeth in my mouth. This was by far the best dental experience I've ever had. I booked through ZocDoc which allowed me to fill all my info out prior to arriving. Upon arrival, I was greeted and asked to sign a short doc confirming all my info from ZocDoc was correct. Then I was asked to have a seat and before I could reach the chair Gladys called me back. Went to the first room where I had xrays done and everything was so on point. I didn't once find myself just waiting around for someone to arrive. After xrays, went to the 2nd room where I was asked if there's a particular show on Netflix I like watching...in which I replied "The Flash" (Marvel nerd alert). I spent the next 45 minutes with Dr. Phan and her assistant both cleaning my teeth and filling in some chips while I laid back and watched a full episode from the TV hanging above me. They were efficient, effective and the overall experience was very pleasant. I ended my session with before and after pics of the cleaning and smiles from everyone at the office telling me to have a great day. I can't recommend Dr. Phan and her team enough. Hello, I switched from Smile 360 to Daylight Dental. They will do whatever it takes to squeeze you in in the case of an emergency. Smile 360 you have to wait two months just to get a cleaning done. After calling my original dentist and being told to wait two months to fix the fractured tooth which was poking my cheek, I found Daylight Dental on the Yelp app, and gave them a call. They said come in, we will squeeze you in between the other scheduled appointments! So my first visit at Daylight dental was a dental emergency, I had a fractured molar and they were able to fix it. My most recent visit was on 3/16/17 for a cleaning where they discovered some cavities, they took care of it right on the spot and matched the natural color of my teeth with the filling composite. Now my teeth look as good as new! Also have very polite staff and dental assistants, competitive pricing, and a Dentist that does great work! Highly recommended! I agree with the person who also noticed Dr. Phan was just very impersonal and doesn't offer any insight to your mouth's health or issues. She does her work, then is out of the room very quickly. The staff seems friendly, but I was told they don't schedule cleanings out as far as 6 months and I'd need to call back to schedule. I've also had 2 cleanings done here and neither time did the dental hygienist floss my teeth during the cleaning. Is that normal? Not even a dental health supply kit on the 2nd cleaning. I'll look elsewhere for future dental needs. read more

I've been to this dentist a few times, thought it was average. I am easy to please and don't really complain. I was sent an email for my "6 month cleaning" my insurance hasn't changed and I just filled out my appointment and booked the earliest available time slot. I thought it was standard practice to confirm insurance and make sure everything was covered. Turns out due my insurance covers 2 cleanings a year. I was a little over 2 weeks early for my appointment to be covered. While there, I was told to buy a mouth guard, "which I can get on Amazon" as well as additional procedures with my cleaning that would of just been more and not covered as well. I felt like a client that was just being asked to spend more and more money. At the end of this I get an email saying I am responsible for the whole bill and just came to early. I would think an office like this would take the time to make sure I didn't come in too early or let me know what is available and not try to upsell me mid procedure. read more

I highly recommend Daylight Dental to anyone in South Austin. I recently moved to Austin and have needed to go to the dentist since our move, but I didn't make it a priority. And with that, anxiety of returning to the dentist after missing my last two routine appointments set in. But, everyone from the receptionist to dentist were all very nice, thorough and service came without judgement. This is a new office with all the newest in gadgets in dentistry. Everything is digital from the intake forms to x-rays. They take before and after pictures of your teeth, which you may rather not see ;), but it definitely has a big impact on their attention to detail. read more

My boyfriend came here and was overcharged over $400. We realized this and worked with billing for a couple weeks to sort it out. They are reimbursing us for the amount overcharged. However, had we not questioned it or did some research, the situation would have been left as is which is a scary thought. It is not our job to be thorough in the work they are doing. The dentist is very nice and she didnt stab or hurt me when i got 4 cavities. They had netflix of my choice of show up on the ceiling for me to watch when my teeth got cleaned and filled. I had a cleaning with Dr. Phan about a year and a half ago and was surprised to learn that I had what appeared to be "the start" of a cavity. I'm 34 years old and have never had a cavity in my life. They suggested doing a resin filling so I went ahead and agreed and paid roughly $250-300 total. I don't have dental insurance. I recently visited Dr. Phan again and was told I have a cavity in one of my back molars and they need to do a deep cleaning due to tartar buildup. Next thing I know the hygienist comes back and tells me the filling and deep cleaning are going to cost over $600!!! I asked the hygienist to show me my x-rays from a year and a half ago compared to now and they were practically the same. Needless to say I chose to get a second opinion from a more seasoned/older dentist downtown. When I visited the older dentist he told me I do not have any cavities, just have some tartar build up, and a routine cleaning would be sufficient. Ended up saving myself a lot of money! While Dr. Phan may have been over zealous with her recommended treatment, to say I have a cavity and need a deep cleaning when it was not necessary was extremely disturbing. Perhaps if I had dental insurance I would not have cared as much but I felt like I was getting ripped off. Just my two cents. Staff is very friendly, clinic is very clean/modern, but watch out for unnecessary procedures. read more

Not happy with my visit unfortunately. Everyone seemed very rude and made me feel unwelcome for some reason... the lady who did my cleaning missed a few things and I had to remind her which wouldn't usually bother me, but the vibes I was getting from everyone made it worse. Also I had to wait 15 minutes in the chair while I heard everyone talking and laughing right outside... so pretty disappointed. Not sure how they have such great reviews.
