The absolute best Italian food I've had (aside from my gf's family, they're Italian ;). I had the chicken parm with a side of homemade meatballs, she had vodka rigatoni, paired it with the Clementine VII classic reserve and left with a cannoli. The wait time was less than what seemed 15 minutes at best, which is crazy. We went on a Saturday at 7:30pm. All the food was fresh and you could taste it, I mean really taste it. The portions were huge too! We felt like criminals having to request leftover boxes and not being able to finish it on the spot. And for the prices, you get your moneys worth, well worth it. My only regret is not getting a pizza to go, I'm sure they are phenomenal too. Bottom line is if you're looking for the perfect spot for a date or just to eat with your family/friends, look no further. The ambience is spot on, the staff is lovely and the food is to die for. We haven't stopped talking about it. We'll be back in December. Grazie!

It's local, comfortable, spacious, neat & clean, with a good staff, and reasonable food. We were seated right away. Our server was friendly and efficient. The menu has a reasonable selection. The food is good... not great, not overly creative, in fact pretty average. But we weren't looking for fine dining. And if you care about prices, it's really affordable. Good, family style restaurant in Mentor. Give them a try.

It's also why I don't do the review, in either direction, after just one dining experience. So that is why I am thrilled to leave a very well-deserved positive review for Danny G's Ristorante & Patio at 7224 Center St in Mentor! I tend to be very fond of Owner/Chef owned Restaurants (especially versus Chains), as all aspects of the restaurant, to the quality and preparation of the food, to timely service, and Servers, is going to be most important to them. And family run businesses even more so, as is the case at Danny's G's. It is a very cozy/intimate, house-turned-restaurant space that has somewhat limited indoor seating of about 30 people (especially since due to their early popularity, I'm sure they could easily fill a much larger dining room). That said, when the weather allows it, they have a very nice, and reasonably sized outdoor seating area that at least doubles the size of the number of guests they can seat. Of course, what ultimately makes or breaks a restaurant is the food, and I was fortunate the first time I ate here was on Mother's Day where they had a one price Buffet featuring all their most popular entrees, all scratch-made Italian comfort food which I took the opportunity to at least try each of them. And my son and I agreed, we couldn't believe how good each and every entree was, which I think is rare for all of them to be as good as the other, to the point that I knew the next time I would go there for a sit-down dinner, it would be a tough decision to know which one to order (so I ordered the house signature item, which is Grandma G's Sunday Sauce, slow-simmered spaghetti with a meatball, pork rib, and Italian sausage, and it lived up to billing). I've since also had the Eggplant Parmigiana, meatballs, Caesar salad, all of which were equally excellent, and tasted the Limoncello Shrimp Paste, also very good. So among many Italian Restaurants in Mentor (including an also excellent one right there on Center Street), Danny's G's has already reached the Top 2 in my experience/opinion, and will be one of my "go-to's" when I'm wanting an excellent, homemade Italian Dinner.

The pappardelle in vodka sauce is, hands down, one of my favorite pasta dishes in Strongsville. Rich, silky, cozy, and exactly the kind of thing you order when you need dinner to fix something emotionally. At this point, it is arguably entering last-meal territory. And then there's the salad, which sounds like it should just be the responsible little side character to the pasta, except the CELERY DRESSING is absolutely wild. I do not know what kind of magic is happening there, but I now have strong opinions about celery dressing, which is not a sentence I ever expected to say. Basically, I come for the pappardelle, stay obsessed with the salad, and leave already thinking about when I can justify coming back. Comfort food. Last-meal contender. Sweet folks at the take out counter always. Weirdly life-changing celery dressing. No notes.

Oh well, I have my Capprese Pizza right? Well it was as plain as can be, It has a taste when it has a Balsamic Vinegar glaze, or at least a drizzle of Balsamic Vinegar and usually get it with a leaf of Basil on each tomato not a sprinkling of one piece of Basil on it. All in all, ruined it for three anniversaries. So the place is nice, but won't let me post without commenting on Ambiance.

That's what I wanted on a recent trip to Cleveland. If you want that neighborhood pizza place feel this should be your destination. The owner Larry was on hand to explain in detail how he designed the menu to pay homage to some of the original recipes from 30 years ago, but to also add some amazing seafood offerings. Funny and entertaining, I felt like I was visiting with an old friend while talking about the old neighborhood with him. He really cares about the quality of his food and it showed. I wanted something easy and light so I had the Penne Anita which was more of a soup dish than a pasta and sauce dish. Really fresh and delicious ingredients. Just what the doctor ordered on a cold November Northern Ohio day. Of course I had to order the pizza and it's perfection. It's all about the dough! Gorgeous, plump and crispy. Make sure you check out the wine offerings too. So happy I stopped by on my trip, it really made it a memorable experience. Its refreshing to know that a traditional family feel Italian restaurant is still plugging along in this world of industrial, cookie cutter eateries.
