Disappointed and shocked by the owner's behavior…read more I've been a customer here for almost 10 years, and while Sylvia (the owner) has never been particularly friendly, I continued to support her business. However, today was the last straw. I tried on four pieces and asked about the alteration prices. When she told me it would cost $38 to alter a dress I bought for $25, I simply said that didn't make sense to me financially. Out of nowhere, she began yelling at me--in front of another customer--accusing me of wasting her time and demanding $10 for it. She told me she would never do my alterations again (which I had no intention of continuing anyway), and falsely claimed that I always complain about her prices. This was completely untrue. The whole experience was upsetting, unexpected, and completely unprofessional. I was shocked by how aggressive and rude she became over a simple conversation. I won't be returning, and I hope others are treated with more respect than I was today.

They've always did what I asked at a decent price, which by the way, I always get a kick out of negotiating good-naturedly and half-jokingly with the Chinese lady who runs it. No, she doesn't speak perfect English (and can comr across a little gruff), but that just adds to the appeal for me. The interior is small, simple and very un-Stonecrest-like, but with the help of a little imagination, it is the probably the closest I will ever get to Shanghai.

They weren't able to split the side seams due to the pockets (or didn't want to) but they did make some very nice pleats in the back and also hemmed the sleeves for me. So a good result! I wear it all the time. But i've also had a few pants hemmed, and have had mixed results there. One pair is still way too long despite their careful measurements. ... and that brings me to another complaint I have. Now, i used to work in NYC by the fashion district, so my standards are a bit high...but they kept my measurements on file so i didn't have to try on a pair of pants every time I needed a hem. I'd bring them the pants, tell them to take 2 inches off the hem, and they would have that done the same day. Anna's insists that you try everything on for them to mark with pins...which is annoying especially when the hem length comes back wrong. Also the turn around is slow but I understand that. So i would suggest that careful communication is key, and inspect everything you get back.
