Stumbled across this place in Hollywood completely by chance. I was craving Peruvian, searched…read morenearby, and this place popped up. I'll be honest, when we pulled in, we almost turned around. The restaurant looked like it was under renovation, and it was completely empty. But let this be a reminder: never judge a restaurant by first impressions. We gave it a shot, and I'm so glad we did. The woman taking care of us was incredibly friendly and accommodating, especially with my wife's special requests. The service was warm and welcoming from start to finish. Now for the food... wow. The Lomo Saltado was great. The steak was cooked perfectly, the flavors were outstanding, and everything tasted fresh. Even the salad was excellent, which isn't something I usually rave about. Funny part. When we walked in, I thought, "Uh-oh... why is nobody here?" But as soon as we finished our food, it was like someone flipped a switch. The place started filling up, and by the time we walked out, it was packed. I guess we just arrived at the perfect time! It does look like they're expanding and renovating the restaurant, which is great to see. I'm not just going to tell you to try Kausitas.... I'm going to tell you to run there. Outstanding food, a hidden gem that's absolutely worth discovering. We'll definitely be back.

My family and I have frequented this restaurant many times because the food is genuinely very good…read more Unfortunately, after our most recent experience, we decided we won't be returning. We visited on Tuesday night as a party of 7 (5 adults and 2 children), and we were actually the only customers dining inside the restaurant. I had called ahead beforehand to confirm they were open and let them know the size of our party. When we arrived, the table was nicely prepared, which we appreciated. The food itself was great. That has never been the issue. What completely changed the experience for us was the automatic 25% gratuity added to the bill. When I politely asked why the gratuity was so high, I was told their structure is based on party size: 18% for 3+ people, 20% for 5+, and 25% for 7+. While the receipt does mention that parties of 3 or more are subject to a service charge, nowhere are those percentages clearly disclosed beforehand. A 25% automatic gratuity for a table of 7, especially in an otherwise empty restaurant with average service, feels excessive and misleading. For context, I am not someone who refuses to tip. I regularly tip 18-20%, even when service is mediocre, because I understand this is how servers make a living. But customers should be allowed to decide whether service warrants 25%, not have it automatically imposed without clear transparency. What made it worse was the dismissive attitude we received when simply asking about it. Again, the food was good. That's what makes this disappointing. But good food alone does not make up for poor customer experience and lack of transparency. Will not be returning.

We were in the Hollywood area and on the hunt for Peruvian food. This restaurant popped up and we…read moredecided to give it a try. It's in a very teeny strip mall, which did not have any parking spots. But across the street is a bigger strip mall with lots of parking. So, we easily found a spot there. The dining room is nicely decorated and clean. (The bathroom was spotless.) We were first greeted by a young lady who did not speak any English. I guess I asked too many questions (in Spanish) because she gave us to the other waitress (who spoke English, but we still communicated in Spanish). I tried to order a Pollo Saltado with Tacu Tacu but was told only the Lomo Saltado could be combined with the Tacu Tacu (still not sure why). Anyway, we ordered a fish ceviche, a Tallarin Saltado de Pollo, and a Lomo Saltado. The ceviche was decent. It was nicely seasoned and lemony. However, I struggled with a few fatty pieces of fish. The Tallarin Saltado de Pollo came covered in raw scallions (eek for my raw onions allergy), which I painstakingly picked off. The waitress offered to bring me a new meal when she saw what I was doing. I declined. I guess I didn't think I needed to warn about raw scallions when I asked for my onions to be well-cooked because I am allergic to raw onions. However, it was very good. The chicken was just right, not too dry. And I had enough leftovers for lunch the next day. The Lomo Saltado, too, was tasty. But the beef was very chewy because it was overcooked. We liked that both meals had a good flavor without being too salty (a problem we have with a lot of Peruvian restaurants). The eatery seats about 40 and was half full with 1 table of 10 and 5 tables of 2. I am guessing there was a chef in the kitchen. But the two young ladies had a difficult time keeping up and service was slow. One person at the large table got their meal so late they packed it to go home. When we were done with our meal, the waitress brought us two complimentary desserts. They were Mazamorra Moradas (a gelatin-type dessert with the purple fruit and other fruits in it). It was refreshing. I think it was offered because of the raw-onion fiasco. Luner for two with ceviche and two meals was $75. The food here was decent and there was even live music (though a tad loud), but the slow service was a detriment.

Unfortunately I didn't try the desserts because I had a ceviche de pescado to start and a lomo saltado as a main dish. Parking may be an issue but I think you can park across the street in the shopping plaza.

When I tried this place I was looking for a burger and their classic did not disappoint! It was absolutely GINORMOUS, juicy flavorful and had lil pepitas on it. The signature sauces were all a special surprise, my favorite was the roco, spicy and delicious! Giovanna let me know that back in Peru the roco sauce is extremely spicy but we would not be able to tolerate it LOL. It's on the corner, nice indoor theme and great customer service!
