Since I almost always gravitate towards Asian good, I got the chicken w'anh mi. It was a bit on the pricey side at around $9, especially since the best banh mi over ever had in my life was $3.50. But this is London and because of the lack of competition, things just cost more here. I can accept that. My first bite was delicious, the powerful flavored of the soy sauce marinaded chicken with the crunch of the pickled vegetables felt right. Unfortunately, by the third bite you realize they overmarinaded the chicken, leading me to finish off two bottles of water and wanting to taste anything else besides soy sauce after completing my meal. I was super sad because I really wanted to like it, but it's just mediocre. I wish I had just gone to benh thanh instead of having a sodium overload

Wanted to give this place a try for a while and so decided to stop in when I saw this location on…read moremy travels. I ordered a cold hook and ladder sub. What first struck me is that you can't see your sandwich as it's being prepared as the counter is so high. As such, you have no idea what they are putting on or if you may want more or less of a topping. So when I got my sub it had a ton of lettuce, sub standard pale tomatoes, and little in the way of mayo or mustard which I requested. The meat on the sub wasn't as shown on the menu pictures at all, being so thinly shaved that it was just a clump of meat with no texture at all. So in my opinion, the subs here are over priced for their quality and not very customizable. Likely won't return and don't recommend.

The menu at first glance looked expensive. They have 3 sizes, half a medium, medium and large. Their portions are definitely worth it! My boyfriend and I both had the beef brisket and cheddar. I like how they had the whole wheat bun option. The beef brisket was tender, soft and flavourful and definitely worth the money. Firehouse subs uses fresh ingredients! The drink station is one of the coca cola stations where you can pick pretty much any flavour. They also have a shelf packed full of hot sauces to try. The service is another thing, everyone greets you when you walk in. Everyone is very energetic and happy. It is a great atmosphere. I can't wait to go back and try other subs!

No, I don't tip if there's no service. I don't tip if I'm standing when I order food. I don't tip someone for being a cashier. The food shows up 15 minutes later. Good coleslaw and good pickles. Below average mac and cheese. It seemed like the brisket was cooked in a slow cooker. The texture was way off, basically what you would expect from a slow cooker, and there was no smoke flavor. They asked me if I liked the meat and I asked them if it was smoked, which is how it's advertised. They said yes but really froze up when I asked them what kind of wood they use. I asked them again, they said they use a pellet smoker, and I laughed. This is the first I've ever heard of a bbq restaurant using a pellet smoker. That certainly explains the lack of smoke flavor. But I've used pellet smokers. They still have more smoke flavor and better texture than the brisket served here. Whatever they are doing, it's terrible. I'm guessing they used an oven or slow cooker. I'm also guessing the brisket wasn't particularly fresh because I started feeling sick within about an hour.

When I went by, they said that they are new owners but did work with the previous business at one point. I thought the updates they did to the location were great! They put up lots of bright new menu signs that were easy to read. The one thing that really stands out is the wait time. I definitely waited half the time I normally do for a chicken parm sandwich. A very pleasant surprise. Once I got home I opened up the bag and got ready to chow down. Upon first inspection, the sandwich is just as large as any other I've ordered in town. The bread on the sandwich was a bit tougher than I had liked and I did find that the chicken was a bit chewy or hard to eat in some spots. I feel like Mama's Hot Italian Sandwiches has a grasp on what they are doing, but they missed the mark a little bit on the quality. Service was amazing and fast, but I've had better. I definitely would try it again if I was in the area as these sandwiches are the bomb.
