Wanted to give this place a try for a while and so decided to stop in when I saw this location on my travels. I ordered a cold hook and ladder sub. What first struck me is that you can't see your sandwich as it's being prepared as the counter is so high. As such, you have no idea what they are putting on or if you may want more or less of a topping. So when I got my sub it had a ton of lettuce, sub standard pale tomatoes, and little in the way of mayo or mustard which I requested. The meat on the sub wasn't as shown on the menu pictures at all, being so thinly shaved that it was just a clump of meat with no texture at all. So in my opinion, the subs here are over priced for their quality and not very customizable. Likely won't return and don't recommend. read more

I had been wanting to try this place for awhile and finally had the chance yesterday. We were going to go to Five guys but thought hey, we should try something new. In comes Firehouse subs! The menu at first glance looked expensive. They have 3 sizes, half a medium, medium and large. Their portions are definitely worth it! My boyfriend and I both had the beef brisket and cheddar. I like how they had the whole wheat bun option. The beef brisket was tender, soft and flavourful and definitely worth the money. Firehouse subs uses fresh ingredients! The drink station is one of the coca cola stations where you can pick pretty much any flavour. They also have a shelf packed full of hot sauces to try. The service is another thing, everyone greets you when you walk in. Everyone is very energetic and happy. It is a great atmosphere. I can't wait to go back and try other subs! read more

Let's just start this out as this is not your typical everyday sub place It is not cheap. But...you get what you paid for. I ordered an 8 inch meatball sub and ordered my wife an 8 inch turkey bacon ranch. They say it's a quarter pound of meat and it was close to that. My total was $19.87 Which is more then the competitors but definitely worth it I got the pepperoni on top of the gooey melted cheese on the meatballs. The sub was amazing. I would eat here more often if the price was in line with other sub shops. This is truly a unique place though. They ask you to round up and donate to the firefighting charity they support. The place is designed around firefighters with coats on the hooks and signs everywhere like. Bunk house and such Try it out. You won't be disappointed. read more

Sub was good but when I called to pick up an order at 8:35pm for pickup 10 minutes later they told me they couldn't do it for some reason because they closed at 9pm. I went to this new joint with my coworker. I ordered the meatball sub, and I gotta say this may have been the best meatball sub you can get! It was hot, the flavors were all there and the size (medium) was absolutely perfect for lunch! They have a hot sauce bar where you can choose your level of heat as well as the flavor. It was a really enjoyable experience. The people who work there are extremely cheerful and helpful. They welcome everyone in when they enter the restaurant and the service is really nice. You may think this is equivalent to Subway, but the quality of the food is defiantly higher. You are also supporting the fire department by going there so why not! Will definitely be back! read more

It's a bit subway and a bit of the now almost defunct Quizno's. The firehouse theme is evident from the name of the subs right through the decor which includes fire suits complete with boots, a large mural of what looks likes the fire training station down the road and a picture of London's first fire chief hanging on the wall. I went with the steak and cheese and the club on a sub for my daughter. The sub comes "fully involved" which means with a standard array of toppings but, as expected, you can easily alter it to your liking. It also come with a pickle spear. You can also add chips and a fancy custom pop from the fancy coke machine thing. Perhaps one of the more interesting things is the array of hot sauces one can add to their sub. Each has a number from 1-10 indicating degree of heat (to put it into perspective sriracha was a 6) and I eyeballed that there were about 50 sauces in all. I opted for "backdrafts" which came in at a 9. In the end, the subs were decent. The bread was better than Subway's. I wouldn't go as far as to call it an inferno of flavour but it certainly was more than a flicker. read more

I've been waiting for a Firehouse Subs to come to London forever! I first tried them in Whitby and fell in love, so when one opened up here I went in as soon as I found out!! It is pricier than most chain sub shops (subway, Mr.Sub etc) but you are paying for quality and amount of ingredients! Their meat is piled high, you can choose to have your onions/peppers raw or sautéed, add any extras you like (mushrooms, hot peppers, sauces, etc) and they have a huge bar of hot sauces to choose from ranging from 1-10 in heat. I personally chose "sub on a club" which is a mountain of turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, I added sautéed onions & peppers, mustard and mayo. I also chose a level 4 hot sauce to add some extra flavour! My bun came toasted and I'm pretty sure they steam the whole sub afterwards. To get it hot and melty! For sides they have chips, cookies, and brownies which all looked amazing but I went for the chili! It did not disappoint. It was really hearty, chunky and definitely tasted like a firehouse made it. They also have a coca-cola freestyle machine so there's an endless variety of beverages. This chain definitely focuses on great customer service, catering to the customer and you definitely get what you pay for here. 10/10!! read more

My coworkers are big fans of this place so I've had the chance to go twice in the last few weeks. Got the steak and cheese the first time and wasn't overly impressed but I fugured I should give it another chance since everyone raves about it. Got the cheddar brisket sub the second time and it wasn't any better. Both subs just left me wondering where the hype was coming from. They were ok, but nothing close to anything I'd be recommending to my friends. Once you factor in the very high prices, I'm out for good. The subs here are pretty good but not the best for the price. Paid close to 30 dollars for 2x 12inch subs. There was a significant amount of meat in it which made it good but for the most part I do think it's slightly over rated. It is a quality above an average sub from subway but for an extra 10 dollars more I don't know if I can justify it. I have to tell you I was a bit skeptical of all the high Yelp rating but can now happily confirm this place is the real deal! There is little question that they are a bit more expensive than your average sub shop but I thought the subs were excellent and as a result saw the value. The place has a firehouse theme and the cashier who greeted us was frinedly, patient and knowledgeable. The pop machine was broken which meant that we had to get more expensive bottled pop. I understand these things happen but to be honest that is probably all that kept this place from getting a fifth star. My wife and I both had the club sub and my boys split a BLT sub. With drinks and a bag of chips to share it came to just around $40. Expensive? Sure, but the sub was one of the best I've had in a while. All the subs come with set fixings and then it's up to you to add and remove to your taste. They are also grilled or toasted or something so that it's all hot and melted cheese and all that good stuff. The meat was of a good size and all the ingedients were fresh and of high quality. In fact, they slice everything fresh each day apparently. This isn't exactly close to my house but if I'm ever out in the area I will liekly return. Also, for you hot sauce lovers they have a pretty extensive collection - I'd say maybe 50 or so to choose from. New in London,Ontario....opened around the middle of November 2016. Great subs without excess bread that other subs are famous for. A little more money than other sub restaurants but more sub....value for the money is there. Staff is eager to please. They welcome people as they come in the door. Before you're finished dining they come over to ask how everything was and again thank you for coming in. This place is busy and the two times I was there....one day at noon hour and again early Sat evening and the place was 3/4 full but was able to get seated. Well the food tastes good, but the price is much higher than other sub shops and I don't think the quality is all that different. They seems to be attempting to play off the steam cooking but when you see the meat coming out of the steam oven all wet and dripping it's kinda gross. Now for the really bad part, read their nutrient content..OMG .. so much salt in some sandwiches is 180% of daily max, and then add 70g fat, 105mg cholesterol. Really ? For a place that claims there born from Firefighters they certainly don't seem to care for the health of their customers... Better hope the firemen are in the building to give you CPR when you eat this unhealthy food. Why can't fast food places get with it and realize people are shifting to much healthier eating and willing to pay more to get it. I entered the Firehouse Subs location just outside my hotel purely out of curiosity - I was used to the Subways and Quiznos that dominate the sandwich world, and I wanted to see just what Firehouse could add to the table. I was not disappointed. As soon as I walked through the door, I was greeted with the time, followed by a chorus of "Welcome to Firehouse!" I found the greeting to be canned and artificial, and it grew old fast as more customers arrived while I ate. This is probably the worst I have to say about my experience, however. The decor had the vibe of an olden style fire station, with brick walls and fire axes to decorate them. I found the effect to be rather cozy. The tables were made of varnished hardwood, and the chairs were comfortable, which added to the feeling that a lot of effort had been put into the place. A look at the menu told me that the food here was likely a cut above the average sub shop, though it had prices to match. The cashier had a great knowledge of the menus and was very helpful. After ordering the large beef and cheese brisket combo for nearly $20, I moved on to the selection of hot sauces which were on display. Again, as I looked over one particular sauce, an employee surprised me with her extensive knowledge of the sauces - clearly working here requires a certain amount of effort! After a short wait, the food was brought to my table, and it was fantastic. The bun was crisp yet soft with a light flavor that didn't take away from the toppings. The beef and cheese were smoked together to perfection, and the result was a delicious and tender brisket. The mayo and barbecue paired very well with the meat, and I found no other sauces were needed. Overall, this was easily the best tasting sub I have ever eaten. In conclusion, I would happily recommend Firehouse subs. Even if the greeting came from a can, the food, service and decor were certainly fresh! read more
