Poutine

This is a very unassuming place. Tucked into the corner of Dundas & Maitland in a stretch of businesses that I've never been to yet pass by often enough to say "I should check that out." Last night, it was my first foray into London Burger and I was very impressed. The gravy is AMAZING! I ordered gravy on the side, but in a tiny mix up I was upgraded to poutine and I'm glad I was. So yummy! Although, they do use shredded cheese so if you are a stickler, keep that in mind. The fries are cooked perfectly and didn't get sloppy soggy under all that cheese and gravy. Good stuff. I ordered the 4oz burger with cheese and bacon in a combo. With the "small" poutine it was plenty of food. Their topping choices are pretty varied, with some unusual ones you don't tend to see in a tiny place. My toppings were ketchup, lettuce, tomato, garlic mayo & corn relish. Great toasted-on-the-flat-top bun too. The bacon was a bit too crispy though. The service is friendly and inviting. Patient as well, which is good when their clientele is often high school students. There is a bit of parking on the east side of the building, which is good to know. They also sell some London Ice Cream Company flavours if you want dessert. And they have all day breakfasts on Saturdays so I think I need to check that out soon.

Menu. From a distance.

I guess I should start by admitting that I have lived within walking distance of the place for over ten years and have never been inside - including within three blocks for over five years. The appearance from the outside does not exactly inspire confidence. Not bad exactly - just a place you almost don't even notice. Well, that changed tonight and boy am I ever glad it did. It's not a large place, but is clean and somewhat sparsely decorated. Although I should note that they have a charming collection of old pictures of the city before I forget. I had seen some before but it was a lovely addition. The menu itself is actually quite varied - burgers of course but also hotdogs, gyros, tacos, salads, poutine, onion rings and milkshakes - I could go on. I myself had a burger combo with a side of gravy for about $10 - and I am quite sated. The burger was really good and they had a pretty good selection of topping to choose from. The fries were hand-cut and the gravy was some of the best I have ever had. I am delighted to have such a great burger joint so nearby and a little sad it took me so long to find it. Don't judge a book by it's cover - the food is great, as are the prices and the staff were super friendly. Really great stuff - an old school burger joint that deserves to be enjoyed by many more - a real hidden gem!

Smooth burger for what it was ( I just had a regular cheeseburger) Only downside I would say would be the fries.

I was overwhelmed with options until I discovered that John Catucci had popped into The Bungalow for an episode of You Gotta Eat Here, because I can't possibly say no to a joint that's received the Catooch seal of approval. We showed up in the early afternoon and the place was crowded but not completely full, which meant we were able to snag a nice booth in the middle of the restaurant. Having watched the segment on You Gotta Eat Here, I felt like I had no choice but to order the Nicky-John Burger ("House Made Lamb Patty, Goat Cheese, Arugula, Roasted Red Pepper, Grilled Onion, Tzatziki, Toasted Sesame Kaiser") and I got that with a bowl of their habanero beer cheese soup. It's a really tasty burger. All the components work really well together and the lamb patty itself is flavorful and very tender, although I will say that the copious goat cheese was occasionally a little overwhelming. A little of that stuff goes a long way. The soup was also quite tasty, and I enjoyed that hint of spice in it, too. It was maybe a little too heavy to eat with a burger, but I think it'd be delicious on its own. I really loved the vibe of The Bungalow. It really feels like a cool, friendly neighborhood restaurant, and I know I'd be there all the time if I lived nearby.

Our Waiter introduced himself and bright drinks But let me say it's Loud here . With all ages including children and daters and students etc I assume many must walk here as it was nearly a full house. The fish and chips were large and crispy and generally good BUT ( you knew it was coming ) The tartar sauce was probably hellmans mayo and the little cup of coke slaw was cold but laden with mayo The fries were awfully brown and random The table has French's ketchup Try it again !
