Had been meaning to go for awhile then it all came together one day so I grabbed a friend and made it happen. It's café style, meaning that you order from a counter then take a number. It seemed as though the daily specials are available until they sell out; perhaps a regular diner could confirm this. They looked good, but we were late, so we settled for pickings from the standard menu. Options include soups, salads ($4.65-$10), sandwiches and burgers ($9.50-$13), lunch bowls ($11-12.50) and all-day breakfast (actually just breakfast and lunch, so it's a pretty short day!). The beverage selection is extensive, including coffee, tea, smoothies, sodas that I haven't seen elsewhere in London, iced coffee, juices and more. All of the coffee and tea selections were under $5. There is a self-serve water station which is a nice touch; probably easier on staff, too. I appreciated their attempts to avoid single-use utensils and dinnerware. The only disposable waste were the paper napkins and the receipt. Food came out quickly and it really hit the spot. Good-sized portions were tasty and as described. I've come here a few times now on different trips to London and every time the food has been amazing. It's always a happy place, the ambiance is wide open and very bright, just perfect. I had the Chocolate Frappuccino and 3 Cheese Bacon Sandwich this time, both were great. The chocolate frap wasn't too sweet, unlike many cafes that make their fraps very sweet. The coffee flavour wasn't too overpowering either. The 3 cheese bacon sandwich was amazing. One of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I've ever had, plus it was gluten free bread, I couldn't even tell the difference! All together, it's very well managed, happy and has great food and drinks. The ambiance of this place is relaxing and minimalistic, with a lot of natural lighting and spacious seating, making it a fantastic spot for grabbing a meal with either friends or coworkers as well as a great spot to get some work done. The coffee (they have medium and dark roast) is certainly something I'll be returning for in the future. Now it's story time: My friends and I were excited to try Edgar and Joe's $4 breakfast wrap and coffee promotion as we've heard great things about the cafe, but we've never had the opportunity to experience it ourselves. Unfortunately, on our way to the cafe one of our tires blew, which meant we weren't able to make it to the cafe in time before their breakfast meal promotion ended. We were quite upset with a blown tire and our breakfast plans all screwed up, so we called the cafe in a last ditch effort to save our crummy day. Crystal was extremely understanding and helpful; she may be one of the most personable workers I've had the pleasure of interacting with before. Not only did Crystal assure us that the cafe would serve us the breakfast special, but she even placed our orders in with a hold on them so that the food would be made fresh for us when we did finally arrive at the cafe. Without a doubt, Crystal's stellar service and kindness turned our day around and because of that we would not hesitate to recommend Edgar and Joe's Cafe to any of our family and friends. This cafe has a really great atmosphere. The space is bright, modern and has plenty of seating. I got a vanilla bean latte which was amazing. My boyfriend got the big breakfast--the standard eggs, toast, bacon deal. He enjoyed it! I got the grilled cheese with bacon (a pretty hard dish to mess up) and it was great. The only qualm I had was with the side dish of rice and ketchup...I've never seen those things served together on the side of a grilled cheese, or any sandwich really, and it tasted very bland. Overall, we had an enjoyable experience and I'm looking forward to trying more items on the menu. UPDATE (Mar 22): I've been to Edgar and Joe's countless times at this point, but I've literally stuck to the grilled cheese every time...until 2 days ago. I got the egg omelette sandwich on an everything bagel and I was really disappointed. There are no details about what's on the sandwich on the menu, and the toppings were very odd. There were wilted spinach and tomatoes on top instead of inside the omelette which made the texture kind of icky. It was very slimy. Also, they used a "lemon mayo," and A LOT of it. I couldn't tell what it was the whole time--I had to go up to the counter before I left to ask. I honestly thought it was tartar sauce. Anyway, it was not good. Edgar and Joe's is one of my favourite places to grab breakfast in London! I always go for the classic breakfast which comes with 2 slices of toast, eggs of your choice (I get over easy), sausage or bacon and home fries (with potato and sweet potato). It's super simple but so so delicious! Along with the classic breakfast, I always grab a vanilla bean latte - I love it because it's nice and sweet, however it might not be suitable for somebody who likes their coffee strong. Edgar's and Joe's is extremely spacious and they have floor to ceiling windows so it's always nice and bright in there! Lastly, I think the best thing about Edgar and Joe's is how affordable it is - the classic breakfast is only $5.95 and leaves me full even past lunch! Not sure if this would be a deal breaker for anybody but they don't offer nonfat milk and instead only have 2% Also one last thing - they offer community coffees so make sure to purchase one if its within your budget! read more

I love the concept of the cafe and the café itself! It's an open space and brightly lit with natural light. I had the usual breakfast with scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes and toast. The food was decent. I found the sausage interesting--it was a mini patty and not the usual breakfast sausage link. I liked that you can ask for a side of peanut butter and jam with the toast! The food is yummy and the staff are friendly. I ordered a Chicken Roundhouse Wrap and it was tasty. The greens in the wrap are the mixed leafy type and it also had olives, cucumbers, pickles, and grilled chicken. The kitchen had a large order of brunch coming through a few tables and the wait for my wrap was about 15-20 minutes, from the first estimate of 5 minutes. I think the kitchen has sped up since they opened late last year and the quality of food is still as good. I'd visit again but when I have some more time for ordering and eating. read more

I really love the way this cafe's interior is set up! Incredibly open spaced, its perfect place for having brunch with friends or even alone while not feeling cramped in a space, yet still cozy. I had the classic breakfast which was so, so good and I really like that their home fries come mixed with yams and potatoes. Surprised I have not done a review of this place. It is one of my favourites. Today i ordered the Egg Nog Latte and a Soho Omelette. As usual there was plenty of food for the $7 plate. 2 pieces of brown bread, fried hashrowns containing potatoes/yams and a large omelette with cheese, ham etc. Even though the place was literally jammed, our food was out quickly. Really? I haven't reviewed Edgar + Joe's Cafe!? How has this happened!? Recently our office was under renovations so we went to Edgar + Joe's for our meetings. I really love that they have free parking in the back, and TONS of it! I never have to worry about where to park, or if I'm going to have to shell out a ton of cash just to have a quick coffee. I've had their breakfast here before and I really enjoyed it. Everything was so fresh and flavourful. They also have a low-carb breakfast which is awesome! Their Americano coffee is REALLY good. I have gone to Edgar + Joe's Cafe a number of times for breakfast, it's a great spot, light and bright with a patio in the summer. The food is amazing. I usually get the classic breakfast with toast, eggs, bacon & home fries. They do a mixture of regular & sweet potatoes in the home fries which totally kicks it up a notch. I've also had their ABLT which is a BLT with Avocado. The bread they use is home made, the bacon is delicious. They offer gluten free items and baked goods as well. They have lots of choice. I suggest you buy a community coffee when you buy your meal, it's a just $1 and allows someone who doesn't have the $1 to get a coffee. read more

This place gets 5 stars for the concept alone, but the food is delicious too! I love the fact that this establishment really focuses on social responsibility and a commitment to the community. The space itself is inviting, and the staff are very welcoming. Located in the Goodwill building, I came here for breakfast while I was in town for work, based solely on the reviews I read on Yelp! I was pleased as the staff were very friendly, the prices fair and the breakfast really good. At 7:45 am, there were lots of empty seats and tables, several attentive staff working, which helped to speed up the process of getting food and coffee inside of my body! I've been to this restaurant for breakfast several times, usually with a large group of ladies after our Nia dance class. The food is well-prepared and the servers attentive. You order at the counter and food is brought to your table. We are impressed with the healthy choices and gluten free options. Edgar + Joe's also serves a great purpose: they partner with Goodwill to employ folks who get job training, and they aim to raise awareness about poverty and other issues facing the community. It's a very welcoming space for all, and they let anyone who needs a safe and comfortable place to hang out do so. They serve lunch, too; I'll be back to try lunch sometime for sure. Its meant for upscale eating, but its in the goodwill building, it makes no sense. To drink I ordered a mango smoothie that was dull and seemed like mostly yogurt and milk rather than fruit. With that, I ordered the avocado toast with home fries. The toast was soggy by the time I received my food and the potatoes were mediocre. My friend ordered the eggs Benedict, which arrived only after I was done eating. Who is giving this place four and five stars? The food is only slightly less than the stark atmosphere. Feels like eating in a glass box. The food was horrible. The eggs on eggs benny was pretty well hard boiled served on a dry biscuit. The potatoes were grease soaked and cold. A mix of sweet and reg potatoes, like they had been around for a couple days. No one asks or even checks on you probably because they are aware of how bad the food really is. My wife had the oatmeal "cakes" and they were disgusting.
