I really wanted to love this place! I want to start off by saying Amanda is knowledgeable and explains aftercare of services very well. However this spa lacks the feel of a spa & is not luxurious and falls short of a luxe feel. Nonetheless, I wanted to support a local WOMAN owned business! And was ready to call this place my waxing home. Today would've been my 2nd visit at Abdelnour Spa, unfortunately Amanda has a strict cancellation/rescheduling policy which I respect. However, this morning, I woke up not feeling my best. My allergies have gotten the best of me and although I wanted to try my best to keep my appointment, I physically could not do it. I contacted her and informed her of how I felt and asked if I could reschedule for tomorrow but she replied back reiterating her rescheduling/canceling policy. Her policy states all appointments must be canceled or rescheduled 48 hours prior to your appointment. I'm not sure how many people can predict an emergency or know they will be sick 48 hours before an appointment... but I sure didn't! I lost my deposit but that's ok. I went to Amanda for the first time ever getting this waxed, I got a vajacial & my results are great. Amanda is very knowledgeable, she made sure to inform me on the right way to take care of my hair & skin when waxing. She is super kind & caring. She kept checking up on me to make sure I was okay & comfortable. She is fast with her hands but is also gentle so it doesn't hurt for too long. I was very sensitive after but it's totally normal. I got her coffee scrub & it helped my healing process & made me super soft. All Amanda's products are all natural which I love. I got this done 3 weeks ago & I can't believe how little & slow my hair grew back. The extractions hurt the most but have the best results. I'm very happy with everything I'll be coming back. The bottom line: Amanda does not care about her clients! She exploits them by smacking unreasonable policies in their face. Overpriced, no customer service and you will be talked down to in a condescending way about her "rules" and policies. Terrible experience after investing in her waxing for 6 months. Read below... I booked a 2h 15m appointment with Amanda which included 6 waxing services. I prepaid 50% in accordance with her policy. At the minute of my appointment time I receive a text asking if I'm there. I replied that I was stuck in traffic and running 20 mins past my appointment time. She sent back a screenshot of her policy saying she would have to cancel the appointment and treat it as a no show, effectively charging me $300 worth of services for doing nothing. At this point it was only 5 minutes past my appointment time! I was driving, and tried to call her but she only replied via text. Next, I asked her if she could cancel one of my 6 services (still charging me for the service) and use the 1h 55m left of my scheduled time to do the rest of the services I booked. She again threw her policy at me saying she needs 48hr notice to cancel any service. I am getting married in a couple of days. I have been going to her for 6 months, investing in waxing services, ahead of the big day. She refused to perform the services she was booked for, paid half in advance for, and had the time for. She would not compromise and would not even answer her phone. This is how she treats her clients. Beware! PS: It's misleading to call this place a spa. I've heard so many great reviews about this place from friends and many others, so I just had to try this place out! My appointment today was a bottom leg wax and the famous vajacial (with the Brazilian). It was my first time dealing with hard wax, and it is definitely much better than soft wax more due to the pain tolerance. My pain tolerance is already pretty high with waxing, so with the hard wax it wasn't too much of a big deal. The Brazilian however was a bit painful, but still handled it well for first time waxing down there. The vajacial was the best part since it made me feel very relaxed after all the redness for the waxing. Amanda herself was THE BEST! I booked my appointment in the middle of the night and I got a call in the morning to confirm and answer any questions I had since this was my día time ever waxing. The customer service is great she has created such a relaxed and chill atmosphere that you don't fond in many places. Amanda was so knowledgeable and forthcoming about what to expect and after care. I was so nervous that I was sweating !! But I can't express how comfortable she made me feel! I booked a last minute appointment with Amanda 45 minutes prior to my appt. I've seen nothing but highly recommended reviews with before and after shots. I came to NYC all the way from Maryland to bring all of my insecurities and skin issues to her. Once I arrived, the building numbers were so easy to find and parking is highly accessible. She's on the fourth floor and gave me very clear instructions to her shop. I never knew YoHo was so big on the inside! There were many local business owners from tattoos, food, art, you name it, it's there! Arriving inside her spa, I immediately recognized the clean hygiene work space and it smelled great! I took off my shoes to respect her rugs and help keep the spa clean! Before venting my life away haha, Amanda asked me about my day and it felt like talking to an actual caring human rather than a give-me-your-money-and-get-out feeling, which I've experienced many times with other spas. I was very nervous as I've never been waxed and actually sweated to a point I was embarrassed. Amanda made me feel so comfortable and played some music to help calm me. Not only was the wax painless, she also tweezed and removed my ingrowns and small hairs that were missed. IVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THAT. She was very attentive to detail and made sure no spots were missed. Seeing my skin and lifting my arms to take a look in the mirror almost bought me to tears. I've always wanted to do laser hair removal, and so for my birthday my sister bought me a 6 session package at Abdelnour Day Spa. Now I didn't do much research on this, but Laser Hair removal fucking hurts! Amanda however is an angel sent from above. She plays cool music makes you laugh, and generally makes every part of the appointment pleasurable, i find myself looking forward to seeing her. In addition to this she actually CARES which is a big deal when you have as many clients as she does. She always makes sure her work is on point, she's trained and knows exactly where to focus her laser and how to best treat each client. It's that type of personalized feel that really gives her business its charm. So I googled spa's near me and came across Abdelnour. After checking out her website I called her and made an appointment. The day of the appointment I was a bit lost because the numbers on the building goes from #540 to #578;however, Amanda was great with walking me through directions and parking. So The appointment began with a very thorough consultation, where I learned how strongly Amanda feels about shaving ( Lol), she educated me on the pros and cons of shaving vs. waxing. So the service began and I was pleasantly surprised, it didn't hurt as much as it usually does at other places. Amanda is super sweet, hella funny and literally talks you through every single step and makes you feel super comfortable.
